but... i highly doubt Samsung will put ICS onto the exihibit... If they do plan on putting ICS onto the exhibit, then you wont see it until probably December 2012... in the mean time, you can google to see if someone made a ICS custom ROM for the exihibit, like XDA forums...

Xperia Play -> FPse Emulator?

Q. i have it on my android phone i have all of my play's buttons(ps controller) set to buttons for the emulator controls, but 'O' on the slide game controller is also the 'back' button and i can't press it to set it Dx any suggestions?

every time it says "press key to assign" i press 'O' and it just gets out of the menu without assigning the key DX

A. O's defualt is the back ... it can be set to do otherwise if you go to options menu then controls then change it and do a hard reset ... this shall work for most androids

Q. I was planning on flashing my sprint Galaxy sIII, but I heard if you flash a phone you can't use the Data (Not counting wifi} and all you'll really can do is text and call is this true I'm just curious? I'm planning on flashing my sprint SGSIII to Metro PCS.
I meant flashing my Sprint "Samsung Galaxy S3" to work on Metro pcs's network and if any negative would happen if I did "use" wise.
Not sure if I answered you right I'm just not very techno wise as you can tell lol :P.

A. I'm not sure what you mean by "flashing my sprint SGSIII to Metro PCS," but flashing a custom ROM to your phone (such as CyanogenMod 10.1 or AOKP or Paranoid) won't affect your ability to use voice, data, SMS, or anything, assuming you're flashing a well-known and proven ROM.

I've tried several ROMs on my Samsung Galaxy Nexus (Verizon) and had no issues. In the end, I've stuck with CyanogenMod because it's the closest to pure Android 4.2.2 (soon to be 4.3) and has lots of customization features I like.

If you can explain more about "flashing my sprint SGSIII to Metro PCS," maybe I could address that part as well. If Metro PCS uses the same technology as Sprint, namely CDMA (the same as Verizon uses), then you should be able to use your Galaxy S III on Metro PCS. If Metro PCS uses the technology used by AT&T and T-Mobile, though, which is known as GSM, then you won't be able to use your CDMA Galaxy S III on it whether you flash a ROM or not.

UPDATE:

OK, I see what you mean. It looks like MetroPCS does currently use CDMA, as does Sprint, but I found out that since MetroPCS's merger with T-Mobile, they're now planning to shut down the CDMA network by 2015:

So while it doesn't have anything to do with flashing a custom ROM, your Sprint Galaxy S III wouldn't work on MetroPCS beyond 2015. If you plan to switch phones and/or carriers before then anyway, then no problem. :-)

Your best bet to find out for sure if your phone will work on MetroPCS is to call them and ask if an unlocked Sprint phone will work on their network. If so, you're good to go. Just download something like the Galaxy S III Toolkit, unlock and root your phone, and get your MetroPCS SIM card. You'd need to do that whether you flash a custom ROM or not.

SGS2 2.3.5 update, will it erase everything?

Q. Wassup everyone, i am in hurry, but my girlfriend right next to me have a Samsung Galaxy S2 since 2012, and she is currently using Gingerbread 2.3.5, the classic (original one).
Her phone is just getting slower and slower... So we both decided she should update her phone, we downloaded the update from Samsung, the update was around � 202Mb.

When the download was ready, right after i opened the installation this message pop up saying "The installation process can lead to data loss.".

Before she updating, she wants to know what kind of data she risks losing. What does it means, I actually know by my self since i updated my Google Nexus from 4.0.0, 4.2.2 & 4.3.0, i did not lose any data.

She doesn't want to lose any messages, pictures, film clips, game data saves & such. Would she lose any data? Or is backup recommended?

I really need to know in hurry! Time is running away actually! But thanks in advance!

A. Rooting will not delete any data from your phone , in case you are very aware about your files then you can make a backup.

Required files and stuff
CF root modified kernel for XXKI3 firmware � Mirrors | Multiupload link
Download ODIN3-v1.85 from here [use only this version otherwise it can bring serious problems]

Instructions to Root Samsung galaxy s2 on android 2.3.5 XXKI3 Firmware

1. Unzip CF Root kernel file and you will see a .tar file, it is possible that your pc shows .tar file as extractable archive but don�t extract it further. save this .tar file on safe place like desktop

2. Unzip Odin too and you will see two files first is .exe and second .ini

3. Right click on Odin3 v1.85.exe and run it as admin

4. Check Auto Reboot , F.Reset Time and leave Re-partition unchecked.

5. Now click on PDA button and select CF-Root-SGS2_XX_OXA_KI3-v4.1-CWM4.tar

6. After this, put your Samsung Galaxy S 2 in download mode.

7. To do that Switch off your phone

8. And press and hold volume down and middle key ,while holding both keys press power on key (don�t leave until it boots in download mode)

9. Once your phone is in download mode, you can connect your phone to the computer via USB.

10. Just after connecting you will ID COM box in Odin will turn yellow and in message box ADDED appears

11. Click on the Start button and wait for the kernel flashing process to complete.

12. During this process don�t stop Odin and don�t turn off phone.

13. Once the process is over, your phone will reboot automatically


How to remove yellow warning triangle
1. Download Stock kernel of XXKI3 | Password: intratech@XDA
2. Extract it by double clicking on it ,you will get .tar file
3. Now flash this .tar file on your phone , flashing procedure is same as above. you have 4. To use kernel .tar file instead of cf root .tar file

What can I do to fix this?
Need to not void warranty when I send back into TMobile

A. You could try flashing the ruu to restore to stock rom.

-If I were u, I would rather choose any gingerbread custom rom as it is best for speed, performance and battery backup. Both jellybean and ICS require more ram which will give u less performance and speed though they're still good for daily use but not good for gaming especially for playing HD games.

I know basics about how to root a phone but I want someone to tell me how to install a custom rom with a link to download this rom.. !! and please tell me what are the precautions I should take before installing rom.. like backup of stock rom and apps and contact and IMEI etc.. !! so please please please please please help me.. very very very thanks in advance . :-)

-If I were u, I would rather choose any gingerbread custom rom as it is best for speed, performance and battery backup. Both jellybean and ICS require more ram which will give u less performance and speed though they're still good for daily use but not good for gaming especially for playing HD games.

Can the Samsung Stratosphere be upgraded to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich?

Q. I just hit the Stratosphere and was wondering if there was any way to upgrade it to 4.0

But you can always root it... and wait for a custom ICS 4.0 ROM. Cyanogen is currently making CM9, which is based on ICS 4.0 SDK....... or see if XDA has a half baked ICS rom for the stratosphere....

but if you want stock updates, this will be awhile... Like i said... who knows!.... since the phone isnt as popular as the GS2 series or Galaxy NExus, Samsung will put the stratosphere on the back burner... so expect Samsung and Verizon making their stock ROM of ICS 4.0 by halloween 2012...

How do I update my android phone?

Q. I have froyo, and its 2012 now... don't even have gingerbread. When I check for updates, it says no update avaliable. I have a galaxy s i19000 btw. Is there a way I can manually update? I herd about rooting, but once I root where do I go to get the new firmware?

A. If your manufacturer or network don't have an update for your phone then your only other option is rooting.
XDA is a site that will give you many different options for new software. There will be guides I'm how to root the device as well

Does anybody knows what's the next update for android gingerbread 2.3?

A. after 2.3 Gingerbread is the all new Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0....

but... i highly doubt Samsung will put ICS onto the exihibit... If they do plan on putting ICS onto the exhibit, then you wont see it until probably December 2012... Remember Wireless Marketing 101... only thr most popular and profitable phones get updated first... all 2nd and 3rd class phones get updated last---or if at all.....

in the mean time, you can google to see if someone made a ICS custom ROM for the exihibit, like XDA forums...

Screwed up my HTC One S Root?

Q. Ok, so I'll try to shorten this story.

Rooted my HTC One S.
Got Jellybean 4.1 ROM Cyanogen.
Vibrate stopped working out of no where (tried different roms, resets, etc)
Presumed the vibration broke
called t-mobile and a replacement is on the way.
Problem - my phone is rooted.
I installed Super SU and unrooted phone while it was on Jellybean, assuming it would go back to stock.
Unrooted, yet jellybean is still installed, and now the internal storage will not mount (ie camera doesn't work, can't USB to computer anymore)

What can I do to fix this?
Need to not void warranty when I send back into TMobile

A. You could try flashing the ruu to restore to stock rom.

2:Downlaod the RUU(Rom Upgrade Utility) and run it while phone is connected to pc(no need to mount sd). It should completely wipe and re install the tmo stock rom. It WILL NOT relock the boot-loader (which voids warranty and was needed for you to load custom rom). If it cant find your phone try downlaoding the adb drivers from this post
