Windows Phone 7 Mango vs Android Gingerbread vs iOS 5?

Q. Compare each new version OS, and I would love personal experiences with all 3 Operating System's, and opinions on each one. Provide your favorite and why also, if possible. Thanks.

A. -Android -I personally don't like this because of the fragmentation. If you buy one form Motorola it may be entirely different from a Samsung Android. I don't know too much about Gingerbread, but I can tell you Android will be gone in the next 10 years. Its becoming like Windows Mobile 6. Which used to be a smartphone but is know obsolete.
-iOS 5- iOS in general is getting quite old, and is a grid launcher for apps. Of course it is very wide spread and you are more likely to see someone using this than a Windows Phone. iOS 5 is not really new amazing features, they are features that Apple is catching up with. A better Notifications system with cues from Android. The camera app has many cues from Windows Phone 7 too. For example swiping to the right to see the last picture you took. A hardware (sort of) camera button to take pictures, and a faster way to get to the camera (although this is different from WP7's, iOS will use a software button instead of a hardware button like WP7 uses). They are just trying to catch up with competition.
-WP7 Mango-This is probably the OS that I know the most about, while yes they are catching up witch competition like Apple with Multitasking and such, they are also bringing a plethora of new features. Local Scout which will show you nearby places and sightseeing attractions, Threads which let you switch between Facebook chat, Windows Live Messenger and Texting without the need of a third party app. Groups which let you see all your "Family" or "Friends" contacts in one place. Music Search which is like Shazam without an app (built in), Visual Search (which is like Google Goggles, except with Bing).

Personally I love Windows Phone 7, because it isn't just a grid of icons and icons, they use Tiles instead which update with the latest news. For example you may pin a Weather app to the Start Screen and it will show you the latest weather. You can pin a Sports app and it could show you the latest scores, you can Pin a contact and it will show you Social Network updates. The possibilities are endless. The UI design is so different from the compettiton, and it's just soemthing new to look at. Instead of going in and out of apps to look for info, all the Info is right there on the start screen.

Which is better? An Android phone or a Windows 7.5 phone?
Q. What are the advantages and disadvantages?

A. Windows 7.5 phone especially on the Nokia Lumia's is much better than Android because it is a lot more stable and more powerful. Android uses a virtual machine called Dalvik to run apps which reduces their performance by a huge margin. Android phones (depending on brand) take ages to get updates. WP is also fresher with new ideas and a new Ui it also has backing from Nokia. WP is also a lot more unified with the same interface across the ranges. Furthermore Microsoft have ensured all phones running WP are powerful enough to run it at 110% meaning you will always have a smooth experience. The Lumia's also have Nokia's Drive application which gives you free lifetime navigation on Navteq (The best) maps.

There are many more reasons why Nokia Lumia's with WP are much better including Carl Zeiss optics but basically WP is hands down the better option.

iPhone 5 or new Android phone?

Q. I am soooo stuck. give me pros and cons of each phone and why you should think i should get one or the other

A. get a droid phone, and with a app called "double twist" you can sync all your itunes music to your android,
http://www.tested.com/news/the-best-android-phone-for-your-network-july-2011/2660/

I prefer android over apple for the reason that its open-source, that means that the majority of the apps are free, and you get more revolutionary and cutting edge apps, and do things are even only barely available on a jail broken iphone
The android market already has 250000 apps- closing in on apple 500000; some say it will surpass it before the year is over. Also any popular iphone game or game adaptation can be found in the android market for free.
Another great thing about android as that if you dont like something (keyboard, homescreen, etc.) it can easily be swapped without jail-breaking, unlike the iphones one-size-fits-all approach.

Despite the false rumors, The iphone is also just as, if not more vulnerable to viruses as android
http://www.pcworld.com/article/183763/experts_not_surprised_by_iphone_malicious_app_report.html

Other features only on android
Turn-by-turn voice GPS
Better and larger screen
No need to connect to computer to sync

Apple lovers that say that the iphone is made of better quality material? They dont realize that Samsung, an android phone maker, supplys the screen, processor and memory for apple devices, so android has the advantage here.
The iphone is pretty, but not durable, drop it once- it breaks, all that glass around it? That was honestly a mistake. Android manufactures clearly saw that, and decided to do with something a little more durable.

And the iphones retina display is a huge scam. By definition a retina display is one where the human eye cannot distinguish individual pixels. But this is determined by several factors; most important being the distance between the screen and your eyes. The iphones retina distance is 12in, move any closer than that- say 7in and its no longer a retina screen because your eyes can now see the pixels, by that same token, if I move my android phone back, to say 16-17in, amazingly, it becomes a retina screen as well! (feel free to google this)

Also apple never invents anything, there never the first. All they do is steal old technology, give it a fresh coat of paint and mass advertise it as magical and innovating, thus fooling the mass of the population into believing that apple offers cutting edge technology, that in fact has been around for quite a few years.
So instead of innovating, apple actually hinders technology- after 4 years they still have low-power single core phones, while android, an example of technology in overdrive, has rumored that, after their second year, the release of quad core phones that will surpass even some desktop computers in shear processing power. (now any 2011 android is smoother and faster than the iphone)

Apple should now feel pretty worried; android has passed it in market share
http://www.businessinsider.com/android-iphone-market-share-2011-4

Then apple panics and sues
http://www.dailytech.com/Google+ExCEO+Apple+Doesnt+Innovate+They+Sue/article22190.htm
The funny thing is that apple cant sue for being the first touchscreen or tablet, because they werent,(Nokia fist touch screen, archos first tablet) so instead they sue for much more relevant things like, the rounded icon corners and having a flat screen or the square shape of the phone..

To top it all, if youve seen apples 2011 presentation, they blatantly copied over five "new" features that were previously on android.
http://androidandme.com/2011/06/news/five-features-in-ios-5-that-show-how-apple-is-now-playing-catch-up-to-google/
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/06/06/apple-introduces-ios5-with-notifications-ota-updates-and-tabbed-browsing-android-users-giggle-at-their-late-arrival/
1. Notification bar
2. Twitter integration
3. No need to connect to PC to sync
4. Launch apps from lock screen
5. Tabbed browsing

And not only are they copies, but apple didnt even bother to improve, or change some of them in any way- some even have LESS features than their android counter parts, its basically a cheap imitation with the ever-popular iphone skin.
According to Steve jobs, these "revolutionary" new technologies that android users had since 2007 will be available on IOS5, and it would not surprise me to see some more android features from 2008 on IOS6.But the truly sad part is that due to apples marketing, in a few months, apple lovers will really think that apple invented those features and call android the copycatsyet again.

Though I suppose Google shouldve seen it coming.

Is the iPhone 5/iOS 6 better than all Android phones?
Q.

A. No the Samsung Galaxy S3 is better then the Iphone 5 by a long run. The S4 is coming out in a few months and that will put all other phones to shame.

The Iphone is good if you don't want to do anything outside of the Apple box and all it's restrictions as they tried to make it idiot proof by not allowing the end user to do things they want to do in order to protect the user as they don't think the end user is smart enough to think for themselves. They took the choices out of the end users ability. The Androids let the end user use the phone the way they choose without all the restrictions.

You can expand the memory of most android phones you can't with apples. With an Iphone what you buy is all you will ever get. If you want more memory you have to buy another phone. With the Galaxy if you want more memory just add a second memory chip with does not cost much.

This is just one of the many things that the androids are better for. I could go on about all the things you can't do with the Iphone that you can with an Android but there are too many to mention.

Here is a leaked specs list of the S4 rumoured to be out in April of this year for your information.

Should I return my iPhone 5 and get some type of Android phone?

Q. My first iPhone 5 arrived with a scratch, and the second had sim card issues (even with a replacement card) and Wi-Fi problems. I wanted this phone mostly so I could continue to use my apps and purchase upcoming games. Getting an Android phone is tempting since I'm getting tired of Apple's quality control but I will no longer be able to use my games. What do you recommend doing?

A. If you're open to trying and exploring another platform then sure go ahead and get an android phone. A lot of apps that are in the app store are also available at google play. It does take some time getting used to if you switch so keep that in mind. And also, there's no perfect phone so you're going to experience some type of problem along the line with every phone.

If you do decide to switch, you can get that famous Samsung Galaxy S3, Motorola Razr Maxx HD or HTC One X.

You can go to a store and play with one of them the you decide.

Will switching to android phone make me start the boost mobile shrinkage plan all over?
Q. I have a regular monthly unlimited shrinkage boost mobile plan. I manage to make 8 payments so far and shrink my payment from $50 to $45. Now I want to switch to an android phone. Would my 8 payments be erased and i have to start over the shrinkage. or do they just add 5 dollars to my already $45 a month?

A. Yes, Boost Mobile will do everything they can possibly do to get out of reducing your bill and living up to their promise. They are the worst phone company that I have ever delt with. They basically suck.

How do I get an Android phone without a contract, to use like an Itouch?

Q. I had an I touch for about 5 years until it broke. I was never a huge fan of it mainly because of apple, iTunes, etc. I am looking into the Archos mini tablets but it seems like an offline phone will fit me better. However I cannot pay nor want to get a data plan. I am looking for an Android phone that will work offline, but I don't know where to get one or if it will work without service.

A. buy any used android phone on ebay or craigslist. when people sell their android phone, the contract will be over so you can use it just like an itouch (an android phone with no service) ALL android phones should work with service or not... good luck!

Which is better an Android Phone or IPhone 5?
Q. I have never used an Iphone but have used a few Android Phones.
I'm planning to get a new smartphone. So what to do? Stay with android or buy ios device? Please mention pros and cons of these two and suggest for a best Mobile OS in your opinion. Thank you.

A. Stick to Android.
Android pros: open source you can root and install a custom ROM if you don't like the UI the phone came with, customization, personazation, widgets, more free apps at Google play store, freedom, less restrictions, better battery life(varys on the phone) expandable storage, microsd card support, removable battery(applies to the samsung galaxys not sure on othwrs)
Cons: fragmentation but its improving, if you don't own a pure Google android phone you could end up waiting for months or weeks to get the latest android update from your
Manufactuer.

Iphone 5 pros: taller, more portable, simple os, you'll get the latest iOS update faster
Cons: no expandable storage, no removable battery, resrricted, more paid apps, lack of innovation

Winner? Android. It is the best i am even typing this answer on mt android phone. get more freedom and choice

Oh yeah there are launcher at the play store like iPhone 5 or windows etc etc enjoy

How to reduce cell standby battery usage on samsung galaxy mini?

Q. My samsung galaxy mini battery finish quickly so i went to the batteryvusage and check it always say the cell standby and the phone idle used 40-50%. But my another android phone takes about 5-10%. Is there anyway i could reduce it? Help me quick.

A. There is no way you can adjust your cpu power to reduce your phones power consumption without rooting your phone. I wanted to do exactly that cause i had to charge my phone every day by noon. So I found this company that rooted my phone for me and optimized it.

Their website is www.rootwizards.com but i had my phone done through them and it came out great my battery lasts at least double the time. All i did was fill out the form and they contacted me. But here is the contact info email rootwizards@gmail.com or call them at (848) 228-3595

Good luck hope this helps.

Where can I find phone cases for my Android phone?
Q. I have an Android phone (The box says W007 4.0.3). If you don't know what that is, just imagine an iphone 5 that is about 3 and a quarter inches in vertical length, the power button on top is on the left instead of the right, and the side volume and silence buttons are on the right instead of the left. I'm looking to buy a protective phone case for it, but I can't find one.

A. It sounds like you have a Chinese phone. Look for cases where ever you bought it from.

A. buy any used android phone on ebay or craigslist. when people sell their android phone, the contract will be over so you can use it just like an itouch (an android phone with no service) ALL android phones should work with service or not... good luck!

What are the upsides and downsides of getting an android phone?

Q. I have been looking at android phones and I'm thinking about getting one. Also if anyone has their phone on a virgin mobile plan please tell me if it is even worth it.

A. Android phones are great to have and fun to use. Downsides- most have average battery lives, and some have horrible (like 5 hours) but you can find one with good battery life. Also, they are pretty fragile so you might need a case if you are prone to dropping things. But there are a lot of upsides. They look nice, perform fast, and have fun and useful apps.

Should I upgrade to an Android phone or the upcoming IPhone 5?
Q. I would just like to hear some opinions, as the Android phones I am looking at are the Samsung Galaxy S3, and the upcoming Samsung Galaxy Note 2. On the Other hand, I was interested in the IPhone 5. Please express your opinions.

A. My opinion is that there's no point in deciding now when nobody has seen the iPhone 5 and there's no developed reputation for how reliable it is.
