I am s frustrated with this stupid kids tablet?

Q. I have a android kids tablet, it was cheaper. I just want Facebook and twitter! I tried getting the app online from google play, but I had to make an account so i did. I try to download the app, but it says there are no devices connected. What the fuck do I do.

A. Ok first you said it was a android so use the android market, if the tablet is updated use the play store,
The only reason why it says no devices connected was because you just cant download games from a website unless its a adk, but google play dont do that, so for you to download games from the browser connect it with the app play store or android market and sign in there and your device will be with your android device, It with download via internet i think im not for sure and you will need to have the phone on internet, also if the tablet does not have google play and its not supported you might have bad graphics playing it because cheap tablets are android but use a diferent marketplace

Apple’s mapping failure couldn’t have come at a better time for Garmin. With public transport options ready to go, Garmin have updated their Navigon app for iOS 6, complete with support for the iPhone 5’s taller 4 inch display. Garmin StreetPilot Onboard will also follow shortly with an iOS 6 update in the near future, complete with their alternative to Street View.

The public transport options include support for trains, trams, buses and water taxis, as well as Garmin’s new ‘Last Mile’ feature, demonstrated at the IFA: consumer electronics trade show in Berlin earlier this month.

According to the Official Garmin Blog: “Users will be guided to a transit stop by foot and be able to look up detailed information on what line to take and where to get off. The new Last Mile function automatically saves the location of the user’s car when continuing by foot, making it easy to find it on the way back.”

Apple’s own mapping app provides links to third-party navigation and mapping apps to provide the missing public transport features. Garmin’s updated apps join the list of supported services, so you can jump from app to app as painlessly as currently possible. It’s not the ideal situation, but it’s currently the best option available until Apple’s native mapping experience is up to scratch.

It’s surprising that Apple didn’t choose to licence these features from the likes of Garmin in order to make their native mapping experience more feature complete, instead of delivering a half-baked app like they have this week. It’s possible that they may have tried and failed to partner with third-party mapping companies, although no rumours of such talks have ever leaked. Surely, Apple has some plans in the works other than to leave users wanting until Apple themselves catch up.

Based on the current negative attention iOS maps is attracting, Apple may be forced to strike a deal with a third-party to quickly bring the native experience up to parity with the competition. Google have already stated that they want to bring Google Maps to every possible platform, so it’s only a matter of time before we see an official Google Maps app in the iOS App Store. There have been rumours that Google already have an app awaiting approval from Apple, but this has not been officially confirmed.

Until Google or Apple bring a more complete mapping experience to the iOS ecosystem, it looks as though Garmin might be the best port of call for the time being.

Questions about the Samsung Galaxy Note?
Q. Okay I'm 14 and I really like that phone, I've compared it to the iPhone and I figured it would be better

But the problem is that my mom doesn't really like 2 year contracts, so she's always got my brother and I prepaid phones from walmart(I don't even want to use mine anymore)

So my questions are
1.How much does it cost with a 2 year contract
2.How much does it cost without a contract
3.What company's carry this phone

I'm hoping she would get it since she got me a 32G iPod and a prepaid phone that was nearly around 200 dollars(I never got use to it, because it confused me and til this day I don't now how to use it, the settings are just really hard to understand)

A. Hi there!
I just bought the Galaxy Note yesterday on a plan and its brilliant! I transferrd from an LG phone but all i have always used my family's Apple phones so i do indeed know the difference. Without going into too much detail, i will answer your questions for you!!

1. I got it on a plan (In Australia) but still it might be around the same price. Anyway i got a $75 dollar plan at Crazy Johns. That included TWO phones that were BRAND NEW from the market and they were both amazing. It also included $750 talk and data as well as around 4-5 GB of data per month. Not to mention unlimited text!
If it was just for the Galaxy Note, then i would of got the same deal except for $55 dollars per month.
Depends on where you live but usually plans like that are around the same price. Really amazing deal we did.

2. One of the shops we went to (Overall we went to: Vodaphone, Crazy Johns, Telstra, Optus, Virgin, TeleChoice, Allphones and a few more places) had it for under $600. I think he said it was $540 or so but thats AMAZINGLY CHEAP. Notes are usually around the same price of a Iphone, if not higher. They are almost always above 700-800 guaranteed. Thats why plans are much more better. You get them straight away with $0 upfront, you dont have to go out all the time to restock your credit etc. AND you can get just about any fine for a reasonable price.

3. In Australia where i live pretty much every shop stocks them. If not, then they will. This phone is hot on the market and every was googling at my phone when i showed them it. My entire family and a few other people (who used iphones) were incredibly jealous of me. They were practically cradling it the moment i showed them it. Here are the only people in Australia i know who stock them, not including ALL shops:Vodaphone, Crazy Johns, Telstra, Optus, Virgin, TeleChoice, Allphones, Samsung

Get this phone. Its brilliant and simple. It takes a moment or two to get used to whe you go from apple to Samsung but you WILL NOT REGRET IT! For Upcoming smartphones such as the Iphone 5, i cant tell you if it will be better or not. I DONT think they will have it BIGGER than the Galaxy Note but for the other specifications, i have no knowledge on.

I CANT EMPHASISE HOW GREAT THIS PHONE IS. STOP THINKING ABOUT IT AND GET IT.

Screen is incredible for gaming. Iphone FINALLY seems like a little girl compared to the Galaxy.

Definitely a WIN for Android/Samsung

What are the system requirements for Android update?
Q. I am thinking about buying a refurbished Android smartphone and it has an old Android OS. Where can I check for the system requirements for the different Android OS versions?

A. With all the different android operating systems. Here is what you need to know.

Android 2.2 (Called Froyo. The oldest of the android operating system).
Android 2.3 (operating system. called Gingerbread. Supports Adobe flash).
Android 3.0 (only for tablets, usually 7 to 10 inches. Called Honeycomb)
Android 4.0 (only on Nexus cell phone and the newest tablets. Called Ice cream)

* For cell phones, I would recommend getting Android 2.3. Make sure that it is running Android 2.3 or Gingerbread. I would say 90 percent of the cell phones already have Gingerbread running on the android cell phones.

Using my american phone in kenya?
Q. I use a virgin mobile prepaid android phone in america. I plan on traveling to kenya for a few months soon. I want to have my plans in order for comunicating back home while im in kenya. Im asking for help on phone services that would best serve me for making these international calls, without needing internet, and as cheap as possible.

A. There are 4 mobile phone service providers in Kenya. I use Airtel Kenya to make calls to my friends and relatives in the United States. For calls to the United States Airtel Kenya charges Kenya Shillings 3 per minute.

$1 USD = 83 Kenya Shillings as per last Wednesday December 28, 2011.

That means for $1 USD you can talk for 27 minutes to your friends and relatives in the United States. You can buy a cheap Airtel Kenya phone for about Ksh 2,000 (about $25 USD) and use the phone while you're in Kenya.

Enjoy your stay in Kenya.

The samsung Galaxy Nexus

I have the older Samsung Nexus S running 4.04 Android and it's great too.

I'd say if your not crazy about specs and aren't going to be using it for heavy duty stuff, get the Nexus S, otherwise get the Galaxy Nexus.

The specs on the galaxy Nexus are better and it looks cooler.

How do i see if my wireless carrier is throttling me?

Q. So I've had a problem with my wireless over the past few months. In November and December I had a lot if calls and cooperation with Verizon to figure out why my service randomly clicks off for a couple of seconds. It's not a matter of decreased speeds, its a matter of losing my data connection all together. I've tried a couple of things with Verizon, such as checking certain setting, getting a new sim card, and replacing the phone (3 times). Every call was met with critism about my data usage (20gb+ a month) but they never said that it would cause the problem I'm having. After a month of failed trouble shooting, I had started to get angry with them. The only possibilties that were left were either the service is to blame, or the thunderbolt phone itself (i replaced it, remember). Verizon leaned towards the thunderbolt phone, and after some argueing, they decided to upgrade my phone to the HTC 4G LTE Incredible. Janurary I started off having no problems, but after a week I started experiencing times where my data connection just doesn't work again. Very similar to what I had with the thunderbolt.

So, I am really suspicious of Verizon. I use about 20+ GB a month with my 4G LTE unlimited data service. I know they had been throttling their 3G users, but I am wondering if they are now doing the same to me(I'm 4g). Before I call Verizon again about this issue, I want to test to see if they are possibily throttling me. Is there any way to check on my android phone if I am being throttled? Is there an app that I could run that would check my connection for when it dies out?

A. You seriously use over 20+ GB a month on your phone? Haha, that's nothing. I use 40 GB per month and I'm fine. I just leave my phone streaming movies 95% of the time and I leave it plugged in.

will the android phones be able to upgrade to the 4g network?
Q. i just got the HTC droid incredible with verizon, and i was wondering if, once verizon gets the 4g network, with there be a mass android phone upgrade that will upgrade all the android phones to the 4G network? i know that there was an update that gave the droid the pinch feature for making screens bigger. So will there be an upgrade that does this?

A. No, how it works is for the phone to be able to utilize said connection of 4G, it requires certain hardware similar to how some computers are not able to access wireless, they need a hardware chip and can't just simply install a program/set it up. Which is why Sprint only has the Evo able to use 4G and why the others can't due to not being a software upgradeable compatibility but a hardware requirement able to use the signal.

An example is T Mobile's HSPA+ rollout. T Mobile is rolling out HSPA+ a 3G network with enhanced speeds fast as and faster than Sprint's 4G, although their devices are able to receive a boost because it is still 3G, the hardware is not capable of utilizing the full power, therefore the need for an HSPA+ device to show off their network which is where the HTC Vanguard/Vision comes in with the hardware capability - soon to be released this summer stated by T Mobile via Twitter feed, although thought to be October/November.

So you will need a new cell phone for 4G, and even then it has to be in your area, I recommend mid 2011 since it's planned to roll out end of 2010/ beginning of 2011 I believe.

What kind of cell phone should I get if I barely make calls?
Q. I just lost my cellphone so I need to get a new one. But the thing is, I barely make any calls. I only had the old cellphone just to receive calls from my manager and family. As far as making calls, I usually only made calls when I needed to, like if I was instructed to phone a company or something. The last time I had my old phone before I lost it, I had recently rolled-over 4000 minutes that were going nowhere.

Is my rooted android the reason my sytem update keeps failing?

Q. My husband rooted my phone. I don't know what it does. I don't even use it and now I keep trying to do a system update and it fails. I can't call Verizon because I have a rooted phone. Help!

A. Restore to the stock Android firmware.

By the way, rooting is a process allowing users of mobile phones, tablet PCs, and other devices running the Android operating system to attain privileged control (known as "root access") within Android's subsystem. Rooting is often performed with the goal of overcoming limitations that carriers and hardware manufacturers put on some devices, resulting in the ability to alter or replace system applications and settings, run specialized apps that require administrator-level permissions, or perform other operations that are otherwise inaccessible to a normal Android user. Rooting is analogous to jailbreaking devices running the Apple iOS operating system or the Sony PlayStation 3. On Android, rooting can also facilitate the complete removal and replacement of the device's operating system.

As Android was derived from the Linux kernel, rooting an Android device is similar in practice to accessing administrative permissions on Linux or any other Unix-like computer such as FreeBSD or OS X.

Description
Most devices running Android must be rooted in order to install custom versions of the Android system such as CyanogenMod. The stock configuration (unrooted), user-installed applications do not have direct access to the flash memory chip on the device and are not able to replace or modify the operating system itself. Rooting is also necessary for certain applications and widgets that require additional system and hardware rights such as rebooting the phone, certain backup utilities, and other access to other hardware such as status LEDs. Rooting is also needed to disable or remove manufacturer-installed applications such as City ID. Rooting the phone typically also includes installing an application called Superuser that supervises which applications are granted root rights.
In contrast to iOS jailbreaking, rooting is not needed to run applications not distributed by the official Android Market (sometimes referred to as "sideloading"). However some carriers, like AT&T, prevent the installation of applications not on the Android Market in firmware,[2] although the Samsung Infuse 4G from AT&T allows running applications not downloaded from the market.[3]
As of 2012 the Amazon Kindle Fire is locked to the Amazon app store instead of the Android market, and other vendors of Android devices may lock to other sources in the future. Access to alternate apps may require rooting but rooting is not always necessary. As an example, for the Kindle fire it is possible to load the "easy installer" app from the Amazon app store and then use it to "sideload" apps from any source.
One of the potential downsides to rooting is some phone makers consider it to be "modifying" the phone, which may void the warranty. However, if the phone is un-rooted before the user tries to use his or her warranty, there is no easy way for the warranty provider to know that the phone was previously rooted. The term "bricking" is used to describe a device which has had its software modified improperly to the point where it is no longer functioning.[4]

Process
The process of rooting varies widely by device. It usually includes exploiting a security weakness in the firmware shipped from the factory. For example, shortly after the T-Mobile G1 was released it was quickly discovered that anything typed using the keyboard was being interpreted as a command in a privileged (root) shell. Although Google quickly released a patch to fix this, a signed image of the old firmware was leaked giving people the ability to downgrade and use the original exploit to gain root access. Once this exploit is found, a custom recovery image that does not check the digital signature of a firmware update package can be flashed. In turn, using the custom recovery, a modified firmware update can be installed that typically includes the utilities (for example the Superuser app) needed to run apps as root.
The Google-branded Android devices, the Nexus One, Nexus S and the Galaxy Nexus, can have their boot-loaders unlocked by simply running the command "fastboot oem unlock" from a computer connected to the device while it is in boot-loader mode.[5] After accepting a warning the boot-loader will be unlocked so that a new system image can be written directly to flash without the need for an exploit.
Recently, Motorola, LG Electronics and HTC Corporation have added security features to their devices at the hardware level in an attempt to prevent retail Android devices from being rooted. For instance, the Motorola Droid X has a security boot-loader that will put the phone in "recovery mode" if unsigned firmware is loaded onto the device.

How do I get Google Wallet on my Droid DNA?
Q. I can't find it on Google Play, but I know Verizon and Google have issues with this.

A. DROID DNA is not a supported device for Google Wallet.

All Verizon android phones will not have Google Wallet anytime in the near future either. Verizon and Google have a major disagreement over the secure element (SE) in the phone. Wallet needs access to this chip for security purposes and your safety. Verizon refuses to grant any app access to SE in their ROMS, for your safety (remember, the manufacturer and wireless carrier colaborate when maing android ROM and android updates from the google sdk)................... so...................... we'll see where the courts go

From now until then, I would like a decent smartphone but only temporary.

I have AT&T, and I would like the phone to have the app WhatsApp and Viber, etc on it.

thank you!

Ok i'm getting my first cell phone wondering if a htc droid is a good one?
Q. Ok for christmas i want a cell phone or a fender guitar and if i get a cell phone i was wondering if the htc droid is good. If i do get i want it with Verizon because it covers Montana. I'm really careful and protective of my stuff so i'm not worried about how easily it breaks. If not it wat is a good cell phone. I would prefer a touch screen and i live in montana so i need a provider that covers most of montana.

A. Ok right...well it really depends on what you want to use it for...

Phone specs:

The processor & ram isn't the fastest or biggest but if you're not a big "techy" then I doubt it will make a big difference to you.

Overall, it's a good phone for a normal user who wants to do most "day-to-day" things.

If you're looking for a superior device, then I would advise to buy the HTC HD2! It's just stunning!
Fasssst 1ghz snapdragon processor, HUGE 4'3 inch screen (biggest in the market) & a beautiful UI (the layout & design of the phone) & really nice and thin! Here's a link to it; http://www.gsmarena.com/htc_hd2-review-418.php

I hope you make a good choice :) (I'm buying the HD2 btw)

What should I look for when trying to find a smartphone/android compatible with T-mobile gsm network?

Q. I want to use it as a prepaid but don't necessarily want the phones the company offers at this time. Wanted to see if I could find a better phone that's unlocked that I can activate on the t-mobile network and use it as a prepaid. Any help would be appreciated.

I want to buy an android phone under 12000 INR?

Q. My requirements are external slide qwerty keypad, large screen and android 2.3 if possible.

A. http://hubpages.com/hub/Budget-Smartphone-Buying-Guide

Either the Sony Xperia X8 or the Samsung Galaxy 3 should do pretty well, I think. ZTE Blade is great too, and much cheaper at 8500 INR.

which is the best android qwerty mobile?
Q. I want to buy a new android qwerty phone .budget 10000-12000.it should be with qwerty keypad and android. Whats ur openion about htc cha cha and htc status.what are the other qwerty anroid from htc.my first preferenc is htc.

A. Ok. HTC ChaCha and Status are bad phones. I don't even know what carrier your on, or if you want a GSM phone. Anyways, a G2( HTC Desire Z elsewhere) is an outdated phone, but has a good keyboard. HTC Desire HD, HTc Sensation, HTC Amaze are good phones also, but no keyboard. HTC MyTouch 4G Slide(i don't know the name for non-us carriers) is the most recent keyboard phone htc has had. They sorta quit keyboards.

Seeking guitar game that listens and grades the player?

Q. I am looking for guitar game that actually listens to the player and would grade their performance.
Preference would be something PC/software based or I found some cool/free guitar tuning and chord apps for my Android cell phone. Games like Guitar Hero don't interest me. Something free/open source would be great, and something that teaches music, chords, lessons would be neat. Thanks for reading my question.

A. This is currently in development right now (http://www.guitarrising.com/ ). I was looking for one awhile back and this is the only one i found

How do you install a game from the browser onto your android phone?
Q. I just bought the humble bundle for my android phone, and I don't know how to install the games. I downloaded the games, but when I go to install them it says it won't accept anything that isn't from the market. I tried to go to settings>applications but there isn't an option to allow unknown sources. I bought a file manager and tried to install them from that, but it says the same thing. What do I do?

A. you can use PandaApp for Android to download the free apps

Could anyone answer some questions I have about the Nokia Lumia 520?

Q. 1. How is the music playback through headphones? I use a pair of philips headphones and I know this phone has no settings to enhance music playback whatsoever, is it decent enough? It says it has the same audio quality like the Lumia 720 on GSMarena. Is it good enough for prolonged use? Could it replace my mp3 player (which is a Sony, by the way, with excellent bass) and become my music hub?

2. How is the app selection? Does the 512 mb ram limit the compatibility of apps other than games? I'm not a hardcore app user and I searched for a few apps on the Store and all that I needed were there, and I came across just temple run which wasn't compatible. This pretty much answers this one but I want to know from users who have actually owned the phone.

3. How is the messaging experience on this device? Is the keyboard easy to use? How good is the autocorrect? I would be using Kik, Whatsapp and casual text messaging. How is typing on this phone (in both portrait and landscape)?

4. Does this phone get really hot? I mean, so hot that it seems unnatural after a few minutes of usage? I will be a hard user on it (playing games and communicating a lot). How hot does it actually get?

5. How is the web browsing experience through the IE browser and Nokia Xpress? Does it load webpages fairly quickly? How well does it render them?

6. Out of 10, what you give it for its battery life? When does it drain the most?

8. Is there any way that I could buy maps of any other country on this phone? I'm in India, and its SatNav license will be limited to my country. Could I pay and get the maps for any other country?

9. Lastly, are the inter-changeable shells available yet and how much do they cost?

A big thanks to whoever answers this (please provide some details and your personal experience)!

Extra Info- I plan to use all of the featured nokia provides with the lumia 520, like mix radio and lenses. My most used apps are whatsapp, kik, facebook and twitter on the social front. I would like to try out a lot of games, but I don't need the latest and greatest all the time.

A. Hi there,

1. Music playback will be comparable to most smartphones - average. Your Philips headphones will probably make your listening experience better than those provided by Nokia; but it likely won't be as good as your Sony personal media player. However, it would be a much better music hub - with access to applications like Nokia Music; in addition to your own music collection. You've got 8GB of storage, and it accepts 64GB microSD cards.

2. The app selection is getting better every day - though its still not as good as Android. Unfortunately, 512MB RAM does limit compatibility of some apps (and most of the incompatible apps are games). Temple Run was actually made compatible with Lumia 520 today.

3. The Messaging experience is awesome. It combines texting and MMS with Facebook Chat, so your conversations are all in one place. The software keyboard and autocorrect are one of the highest rated on the market today. Unfortunately, KIK is not available for Windows Phone 8; however, WhatsApp, Viber, Nimbuzz, Skype and WeChat are.

4. Like any device made out of plastic, the phone will get hot if you use a radio (e.g. calling, using the Internet, GPS) or play a really heavy game for prolonged periods. It should never be hot enough to be uncomfortable, but you will notice it.

5. The web experience is great. Internet Explorer 10 is really fast and easy to use, with great rendering of HTML5 and text (no Adobe Flash though)

6. Battery life is excellent for a smartphone - at least a day's usage (if not more) with moderate use. Again, it drains the most using games or using the Internet.

7. Nokia's HERE Maps are built into the phone. On the 520, you can download the maps for one entire country for offline usage, but you can still navigate other countries using a data connection. Otherwise, you can browse the mapping applications in Windows Phone Store if you require offline maps for multiple countries.

8. I'm afraid I cannot comment on the availability of shells; I am not based in India.

All in all, I'd definitely recommend the Nokia Lumia 520.

Hope this helps

Q. i am a college student,my budget is in between Rs-5000 and 9000..suggest me a smart phone between android and lumia thats suits my need and budget..

A. Hi Tridona,

I'd recommend the Nokia Lumia 520, for around 8820Rs.
http://www.flipkart.com/nokia-lumia-520/p/itmdj5f6zyyqy6dh?pid=MOBDJ4ZNC7PTMG68&otracker=from-search&srno=t_4&query=nokia+lumia+520&ref=5e775b37-0cc9-45f9-8242-70abc04c02a5

It has Microsoft Office built in; for Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OneNote built in. There's support for almost any email account (including Yahoo!, Microsoft and Google); with support for multiple inboxes.
It has Facebook, Twitter, Skype and Xbox also built in. There's Nokia Music for completely free and unlimited music mixes, and the world's best maps. The home screen makes it really easy to organise all your favourite people, apps and information.

It has 8GB of storage with expandable memory, a 5MP camera and a super sensitive 4" touchscreen.

Hope this helps!

Update for Galaxy Note?

Q. Hi People, I posted this yesterday and everyone seems clueless about it.

Does anybody know when there will finally be ICE CREAM SANDWICH for galaxy note?

I can't stand Gingerbread...the most simple of actions either make the phone lag/ crash and the UI is even worse! It was meant to be a so CALLED "Upgrade" from the S2 which has ICE CREAM SANDWICH and runs games/ apps flawlessly with no lag and can easily manage apps, doesn't get hot ect, ect.

Websites keeps saying it will be release Q2 2012? what the hell does that even mean, even google can't define it? I love samsung phones but they are just terrible at promising updates then stalling behind.

Regards

Shane.
Android phones do update like IO phones (apple)

Do i have galaxy nexus or nexus 2?
Q. How do i know if i have galaxy nexus or nexus 2?..if i type nexus 2 in google its the same

A. There never was a "Nexus 2". All of Google's Nexus devices have been named differently. Here are the names of each device.

Google Nexus One - Made by HTC and released around Q1 2010 - Q2 2010 (3 year old phone now). First of the Nexus phones and had extremely high end specs during its release. All aluminum design, 3.7" AMOLED display (or SLCD display depending on the model). Has a circular trackpad that glows when a notification is received.

Google Nexus S - Made by Samsung and released around Q4 2010 - Q1 2011. Introduced the Android 2.3.x Gingerbread OS. Has capacitive buttons and removes trackpad that Nexus One has. 4" SUPER AMOLED display and a plastic design.

Google Galaxy Nexus - Made by Samsung and released around November 2011. Introduced the revamped Android 4.0.x Ice Cream Sandwich OS. First Nexus device to have a dual core processor, 720P HD display and 1GB of RAM. 4.65" SUPER AMOLED HD display and has a removable back similar to the Galaxy S II.

Google Nexus 7 - Made by ASUS and released around Q2 2012 - Q3 2012 (India got it around Q1 2013). First Nexus tablet ever introduced with the Android 4.1.x Jelly Bean OS. Also first Nexus device to have a quad core processor (nVidia Tegra 3).

Google Nexus Q - Made straight from Google's headquarters and originally released around June 2012. First device to be integrated straight with the Google Play Store. First Nexus device to be a total flop (according to CNN.com). First device to be discontinued so early after launch (discontinued around October 2012 with the announcement of the Nexus 4 and Nexus 10).

Google Nexus 4 - Made by LG and released around November 2012. First Nexus phone to have an all glass design and the first phone to be released with the Android 4.2.x Jelly Bean OS. One of the first Nexus devices to have 2GB of RAM.

Google Nexus 10 - Made by Samsung and released around November 2012 (February 2013 for Japan). First Nexus device to have such a powerful display (2500x1600 HD display) and the first device to have an A15 based processor. First tablet to have the Android 4.2.x Jelly Bean OS and 2GB of RAM.

These are all the names of the Nexus devices. Hopefully you can find out which device you have from there.

What are the qood qualities and bad qualities about Samsung Android phones ?

Q. Im planning to buy Samsung Galaxy so before buying it I would like to know some review about the phone as to what do you feel about phone and is it worth buying and if not, Which is a good phone to look out for

A. Samsung galaxy phones are the biggest family of phones. They are the best performers for their price. But all of them are made of plastic to make them light and thin and share almost the same candybar design. It's definitely worth buying.
Best design in Samsung galaxy smartphones-Samsung galaxy s2
Biggest among Samsung galaxy smartphones-Samsung galaxy note.
Best performance among Samsung galaxy smartphones- Samsung galaxy s3.

What is the cheapest android phone for the best quality and performace?
Q. my blackberry broke in more ways than one so im switching developers. my dad also agreed with me. I an fine with buying something around 200 or 300 dollars because buying cheap only means you have to spend more sooner most of the time. i asked my dad what my price range should be and he said "60 dollars"
http://i.imgur.com/nIF8e.jpg
so does anyone have any ideas?

A. $60? Good luck on that one. The best deals I've found are through straighttalk which can be bought at Walmart. They range from $75-$250

Should I get a new verizon android phone now or wait?

Q. I'm already due for my upgrade and I currently have an lg dare. I will stay with Verizon. Currently the top android phones in verizon lineup are Motorola Droid 2 and X, htc droid incredible, Samsung Fascinate. Should I wait or get one of these now? Heard there is an amazing htc phone called htc merge with 10 megapixel camera and a droid pro.

A. Verizon is getting Iphone in january BUT compared to an android phone is suck.

The only thing you'll be getting with an Iphone is the novelty to say... "I HAVE AN IPHONE!!"

My android can give my laptop internet access anywhere.

Plus apple is expanding because their sales are expected to drop because of Android being such a strong competitor.

Android is an affordable smart phone that almost every carrier offers therefore you'll have more connectivity with people. You can also pick up an android phone with not only touch screen but a slide out keyboard making it easier to text in class, or while driving (not that I condone it.)

Plus if something happens to it you aren't doomed to make an appointment with specialist only for them to tell you that you have to buy a new iphone.

Is there an app available in the android market that will root my droid x?
Q. I've been reading posts on various forums about an app from the android market that'll root my phone with "1 click". Does it exist & if not, what's the simpliest method to root my Droid X?

Why people like android phones of samsung the most ?
Q. Samsung phones have cheap build quality, sluttery design, low quality of diplay (talking about ppi not amolded or whatever) etc (example galaxy phones especially galaxy s3)

By comparing to other android phone brand like htc and experia i come in to result that experia has better display and better build quality, better technology like bravia engine etc (example:- sony experia z)

And by comparing with htc, it have better display, htc sense for better UI,better sound quality, better camera, better looks etc example:- htc butterfly, one x+ and latest htc one)

Now i wonder what samsung have ?

A. Many people choose a phone for purchase based on what is offered by their cell phone provider. My cell phone provider offers many Samsung and LG phones and no HTC phones.
I have owned one LG phone that was a horrible phone. The next time I went to buy a phone, I choose to try a Samsung model. I had good luck with that Samsung phone. The next phone was a Samsung phone. I think that many people stick with a specific brand of phone because of brand loyalty. I own 4 Samsung models of phones. I have not had a problem with any of these phones. As long as my provider keeps selling Samsung phones. I will keep buying Samsung phones.

What is the best computer tablet?
Q. I want a computer tablet that does just about everything. I want a big tablet. I want one with a good App selection. I also want one that is customizable. I want to be able to change my home screen, like you can on most Android phones. Please help! :) Thank you!

A. The best tablet computer depends on your needs...

If cellular service is important, you may want to consider which tablet your favorite carrier supports:

AT&T:iPad 2 and Galaxy Tab
Sprint:PlayBook and Galaxy Tab
T-Mobile:G-Slate, Streak 7, and Galaxy Tab
Verizon:Galaxy Tab 10.1, iPad 2, Xoom, and Galaxy Tab
Unlocked: Grid 10
None:Eee Slate, Slate 500, TouchPad, Thrive, Eee Pad TF101, Iconia Tab A500, Archos 101, Archos 70, VIZIO VTAB1008, NOOK Color, Kindle Fire, and NOOK Tablet

At the low end, $199 can get you a Nook Color (price just reduced today), which has an ereader orientation but is really a budget, 7-inch, camera-less, tablet running Android 2.2. Better than the color Nook is the new Kindle Fire ($199) or the new Nook Tablet ($249, newly announced today). If you can do without cameras, SD slots and 3G, the Kindle Fire offers great web browsing with its new (cloud-accelerated) Silk browser. The Nook Tablet lacks the advanced Silk browser and is more expensive but does have an SD slot and more memory (16G).

If Windows OS compatibility and a digitizer pen are important to you, consider the ASUS Eee Slate or HP Slate 500. The biggest differences between those are that the ASUS has a better display (12.1 inch AFFS 1280x800) than the HP (8.9 inch TFT 1024x600) but is larger, heavier and more expensive. Both the Eee Slate and the HP Slate 500 are expensive, however: Eee Slate is ~$1,200; HP Slate 500, ~$770. A more economical Windows 7 tablet is the Acer Tab W500, which runs about $500 and includes a keyboard and dock.

If high-end video recording is important to you, consider the LG G-Slate or BlackBerry Playbook, both of which can record at 1080p.

For overall value, the ASUS Eee Transformer (TF101) has surprisingly good specs for under $400: Android 3.1, 10.1 inch 1280x800 IPS (like iPad, but bigger and higher resolution) display, up to 9 hours of battery life (16 hours if optional dock added), optional ability to dock with keyboard, 1 GHz Tegra 250 ARM CPU with 1 GB RAM, good array of ports (mini HDMI, SD, micro SD), preloaded Polaris Office 3.0 for editing documents (.doc), spreadsheets (.xls) and presentation (.ppt) files. Note, though, no 3G (however people report success in tethering it to smart phones). Note that there's a successor in the works going by the name of "Asus Eee Pad Transformer Prime" that's expected to have an even faster (quad-core) processor.

The iPad (0.34 inches) and Galaxy Tab 10.1 (0.336 inches) are the thinnest. The Galaxy Tab 10.1 (1.25 lbs) is the lightest of the big-screen (greater than 9 inch) tablets.

iPad 2 Advantages:

IPads have a higher degree of fit-and-finish than the competition. Like iPhones vs other smart phones, iPods vs other MP3 players, or Macs vs PC's, iPads are widely regarded as being more refined and polished than the competition. iPad also has a large and refined App Store (although Android Market is closing the gap).

iPad 2 Disadvantages:

1. No Flash.
2. No SD expansion; no HDMI port; no USB port.
3. ASUS Eee Transformer has a better display (10.1 inch, 1280x800, IPS vs 9.7 inch, 1024x768, IPS) for less money.
4. PlayBook and G-Slate have better rear camera video recording (1080p vs 720p).
5. PlayBook has much better front camera video recording (1080p vs VGA).
6. Almost all tablets have better camera resolution than iPad's lousy 0.7 MP.

Motorola Xoom is heavier and thicker than the iPad 2 and Galaxy Tab 10.1. The Xoom's advantage is that it has HDMI out and micro USB ports. It also has a 5MP rear camera compared to Tab's 3MP. The Xoom has a front webcam and a 720p rear video camera; the Tab has only the 720p rear video camera.

Q. I feel confused to selsect a perfect android mobile for me

A. You didn't specify the currency... so not sure which conversion to use for your 15000. A good lower priced phone would be the Samsung Galaxy S2 or if you can afford it, the S3. Newer phone, go for S4 or Note 2.

Will switching to android phone make me start the boost mobile shrinkage plan all over?

Q. I have a regular monthly unlimited shrinkage boost mobile plan. I manage to make 8 payments so far and shrink my payment from $50 to $45. Now I want to switch to an android phone. Would my 8 payments be erased and i have to start over the shrinkage. or do they just add 5 dollars to my already $45 a month?

A. Yes, Boost Mobile will do everything they can possibly do to get out of reducing your bill and living up to their promise. They are the worst phone company that I have ever delt with. They basically suck.

How do I get an Android phone without a contract, to use like an Itouch?
Q. I had an I touch for about 5 years until it broke. I was never a huge fan of it mainly because of apple, iTunes, etc. I am looking into the Archos mini tablets but it seems like an offline phone will fit me better. However I cannot pay nor want to get a data plan. I am looking for an Android phone that will work offline, but I don't know where to get one or if it will work without service.

A. buy any used android phone on ebay or craigslist. when people sell their android phone, the contract will be over so you can use it just like an itouch (an android phone with no service) ALL android phones should work with service or not... good luck!

SOME GOOD BRANDS OF MOBILE PHONES FOR TEENAGERS?

Q. PLZZ ...not touch screen....should hav games..camera blutooth....a little stylish.....voice recorder

and costs between 100- 400 dollars or 5000- 8000 indian rupees

A. why don't you want touch screen..?
You can buy querty cell phone if you don't want touch screen i would recommend HTC chacha.( it'll cost nearly 8k)
And if you want games any android phone above 2.2 will work. In android market there are tons of game for you to chose and download on the phone.
I'd still say but a touch screen phone if you want a really cool gaming expreience.
If your planning on buying a touch screen phone then HTC wildfire S will be the best below 8000.

I'll be glad if that helps.

What mobile phone is better?!!?
Q. Which mobile phone is better the nokia lumia 610 or nokia lumia 710 or htc wildfire s?

Please help cant decide!!!!!

A. If you choose the phone by quality and sturdiness you must choose Nokia Lumia 610. They are good phones but for me an android lover nokia is boring. This is more dumb because it doesn't have a card slot and java.

Some opinions from users from gsmarena:

From Jay_Jay:
Personaly i think this phone is just Dumb... phones are suppose to make your life easy and not aliving hell... dont understand why i need a PC to have ma music, pics & videos on my phone... just dont understand why is not so user friendly!!
"BING" 4ever getting on your way whenever you busy with the phone nxa, it sucks! And its a very very very very very slow phone, takes forever to notify you about things!

From Bertie:
I have been using Nokia mobiles for nearly 20 years and been fully satisfied so when I decided to update, naturally chose another Nokia, the Lumia610. Very disappointing and a big mistake. I will never purchase another Windows powered phone.
Why do I have to constantly have Bing interrupting my use of the mobile no matter what I a doing. I don't use Bing, I don't want Bing but I have not found a way of removing it or switching it off.
To connect my PC to my mobile I have to use 'Zing'. It's terrible software. Why can I not simply connect by USB and transfer files by Windows Explorer, or the like? No file transfer by Bluetooth either!
I expected the camera and associated software to be better than on my previous phone (N96), but not so.
The messaging and emailing composing software is very limiting and in use is regularly interrupted by Bing

From taib:
Im the new user 610 nokia,i really satisfied with this phone, coz the performance and price,is worth.
Camera is good, internet surf is fine,
satisfied with this nokia..

But if you choose phones by apps you gotta choose HTC Wildfire S, it's an android. THey both have a 5 mp camera.

Here are some opinions from gsmarena,

From Ali:
hi its a very nice phone but battery timing is too short pls tell me how to increase its battery timing?

From fuckr:
This phone is a very good option for people who want a phone in 8k and with a good cam .but there are some problems with it like msg ringtone cannot be changed and .the android vertion is ginger bread . I feel that sony tipo is a better option than this htc wildfire s

From drake:
A friendly advise : DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE.
here are some things i dnt like this phone
1)My phone randomly restarting
2)Very disappointing battery timing (very hardly 1 day if not used wifi)
3)Slow will playing any app
4)takes alot of hours to fully charge

For Nokia Lumia 710 you'll go crazy for apps and social networking.

But I really liked HTC Wildfire S.

Why does my new Android phone keep saying I have apps open when I'd never opened them?

Q. Alright, I just got my new One X Android phone yesterday. When I go to my 'running apps' page or task manager, it says I have apps open that I've never even touched before.

Does anyone know why it's doing this? Is it a malfunction or is it supposed to do that?

Thanks!

A. The running apps list is more of a service list, like hitting control-shift-esc in Windows. The phone (dialer) itself is considered an app. The market (Play Store) checks for updates in the background, so it's running behind the scenes. Wifi, Bluetooth, GPS, etc., all have apps running in the background. Gmail could be syncing your email account, checking for new emails, etc. If you have a desktop widget, that app is running in the background to get the information for the widget.

These are all supposed to be happening. Many apps are set to start automatically when the phone starts, and/or run again once closed for these reasons.

Most phones have "junk" apps that the cell carrier installs that will do the same thing- for example, NFL Mobile for Verizon. You can remove these apps by clicking on them in the installed app list and clicking Uninstall in the upper right. If you have a newer phone with ICS (go to Settings > About Phone and see if the OS version is 4.0.something or higher), you can also click on other apps and choose to uninstall updates and then disable the apps; this will prevent them from running.

can you have a att flip phone with wifi but not have to have data plan?

Q. My husband is looking for a simple att flip phone that he can hook up to our wifi at home. He does not text or use internet but would like to download a few apps.

A. There have only been a very few "smartphone" flip phones made. Currently AT&T offers no "smartphone" flip phones, though you can use an unlocked GSM-capable phone on the AT&T network (i.e., a flip phone that doesn't come from AT&T).

The last "flip" smartphone offered through AT&T was the Blackberry Pearl Flip in 2010 (the current version is the model 9670). Although you can still buy the Pearl Flip from other sources and use it on the AT&T network, AT&T will recognize any Blackberry phone and charge you a mandatory $30 per month for their "Blackberry Data Plan" even if you only ever use it on wifi.

Some non-smartphone flip phones may still offer "apps" though these are not the apps you normally think of in terms of iPhone, Android or Windows Phone apps. Feature phone "apps" are JAVA-based and tend to be much harder to find and not as good in quality as smartphone apps.

It is possible to operate a smartphone on the AT&T network without paying for the data plan, using only wifi for the "apps". To do so you must *not* use a phone that was originally sold by AT&T (AT&T will recognize one of its own phones and force a data plan onto your bill). Instead you must find a GSM-compatible smartphone from T-Mobile or from outside the US and "unlock" the phone for use with any carrier. When setting up the phone for use AT&T you do *not* configure the SMS, MMS or data plan settings. This assures that your phone can't use AT&T data connectivity.

More specific info can be found in the posting "Smartphones Without a Data Plan":

Good luck!

what is the best android phone from metro pcs?
Q. hi all, i have been looking and phones and want some opinions.... there are a lot of nice phones out there but i am wondering about:

Coolpad Quattro™ 4G

LG Connect 4G

HTC Wildfire S™

thanks!

A. The best in my mind is Lg Connect 4G,but see for yourself
If you've never lived in China, then chances are you've never heard of smartphone maker Coolpad. The company, which is a major mobile player across the Pacific (Coolpad outsells Apple there by a wide margin), hopes to make the jump to the United States with the Quattro 4G ($79 contract-free from metroPCS as of 10/2/2012), its first smartphone offering here. Though the phone has speedy 4G LTE and a good-sized 4-inch display, the Quattro 4G's clunky feel, outdated operating system, and poor camera won't make Coolpad a household name here any time soon.

ne of the recent phones to be released by the Taiwanese mobile giant HTC is the HTC Wildfire S. It is primarily meant to be a budget class Android phone and it has really served the purpose. It caught our attention at first sight and we have loved the phone ever since. So we thought we would give it our full attention and focus on the pros and cons of the HTC Wildfire S. So, here is the list of pros and cons of the phone.

Pros:

The phone has really excellent design and dimension specifics of 101.3 x 59.4 x 12.4 mm lengthwise, breadthwise and by thickness respectively. The device weighs a mere 105g which competed with all the devices in the market today.

The TFT capacitive touchscreen is actually miserly but given the cost of the phone, we feel it is pretty much worth it! We have always loved the HTC Sense UI and it is the same in this phone too.

The microSD expansion of the phone’s memory can be done up to 32GB which is really awesome but we were pissed with the internal memory specifics of the phone. We will come to that in the cons section. Still, we loved the RAM of the phone which is a pretty decent 512MB one.

The camera is a pretty decent 5MP shooter which can shoot good pictures at a resolution of 2592 x 1944 pixels, has features like autofocus, LED flash, geo-tagging, etc. VGA video recording is also possible at 24 fps, in the phone.

Unlike the LG phones, the HTC Wildfire S runs on the most advanced version of the Android operating system, the Android v2.3 (Gingerbread) and this is one of the features we love most about the phone.

Cons:

Of course, the phone has its own set of bad qualities too. Some of them are manifested in the form of bad processor, bad battery, etc. HTC, learn fast!

The processor of the phone is a really simple 600 MHz processor which can be easily beaten even by a Nokia 5130 Xpress Music phone (remember those red phones which caused quite a furore when they were released)

We also hate the speeds of GPRS and EDGE, which are 114 kbps and 560 kbps respectively. I mean come on, you can give us better speeds for the money we are paying. The phone isn’t that cheap!

The battery of the phone really sucks! The 1230 lithium ion fuel is no match for the rate at which Android is growing virulently! A powerful battery is a must have in all phones and HTC simply does not seem to understand this basic fact as far as mobile phones are concerned!

Anyone looking for a budget Android device; buy this one and you’ll not regret it!

How do you buy games on an android phone?

Q. So like the Apple Store you use itunes cards for them, but what about the android market?

Please help , i might get an android phone and buy games..

A. to buy games for android on Android Market, Gameloft, Amazon, Tegrazone, or other game sites, you need a credit or debit card... some carriers, like ATT, have a "bill to mobile" or "carrier billing" on Android Market... go to the app, select this option, and the app purchase will appear on your next bill

Is it possible to get an Android phone without a talking plan?
Q. I'd like to get an Android phone WITHOUT buying any kind of talking plan, only a data plan.
Is this possible?
I'd like to use it as an iPod but be able to get on the internet where I don't have wifi.
I don't know much about this, as you can tell.
Thanks in advance.

A. If you don't need any type of talking plan but you want an android, I would suggest the galaxy tablet. Plans start at only $20 per month and you can do everything on these but make phone calls. If you sign a contract the price is only $199. The only negative is if you wanted to use this as a ipod, it might be a little too big.
