Android phone question?

Q. ok so i have a LG OPTIMUS android phone and it has 2.2 froyo. i saw an app called gingerbread and searched some videos its the 2.3 right so if i download this app does it just change the look or does it add all the new things that were added in 4.3?

A. Gingerbread isn't an app, it's a whole new version of Android - 2.3 to be exact, so it's a newer version than the 2.2 Froyo that you currently have.

However, because it's a complete operating system and not just a normal app, you can't just download and install it like you can with an app.

Instead, you have two choices:

- Wait for an update to come from your phone company; if that happens, one day your phone will show a message telling you it is ready to update to 2.3, and if you accept it'll all happen automatically in a few minutes. Whether this will ever happen, and when, depends on LG and your phone company. To find out more you could google "LG Optimus 2.3 update" and see what you get.

- Root your phone, then install a 2.3 ROM specifically for your phone (if one exists - there are different programmers out there who - because they are cool and have the time to do it - make
custom updates for phones). But rooting and installing ROMs is a lot more complicated than installing apps and if you make a mistake, you can mess up your phone permanently. Rooting also voids your phone's warranty, even if the phone is still working fine.

P.S. Rooting is the same as jailbreaking. It's just that in Android-land it's called rooting, but in iPhone land it's called jailbreaking. Either way, what you are basically doing is breaking through the safeguards that are normally built into the operating system to prevent you from making too many changes to the phone.

A problem with my android phone.PLZ answer!?
Q. i have Alcatel one touch pixi wich android is 2.3.6 but i cannot run new games like the new version of subway surfers, temple run, call of duty strike team and a lot of games. When i google the problem i discovered that new games were not able to run due to the old version of android and i founded suggestions to buy galaxy s4 and alcatel one touch xpop but i can't because my pocket canoot handle it.
And i also founded suggestions to root my mobile but it didn't work while it worked with hundread of persons using alcatel onetouch pixi (the model i have) why it didn't work i don't know. tried the mobile fota upgrade and it didn't work. PLZ tell me am i doing something wrong? (all of these attemps to get android 4.0 or higher) My mobile have 1ghz cpu and 500mb ram and i am sure it can handle android 4.0 because galaxy s4 wich has an android 4.3 has the same specifications as my mobile. Whats going on? PLZ help me i need to upgrade it as fast as possible. Any links to download an android upgrader? (Without survey) you can also give me torrents plz?
Note: There is no alcatel center behing my neighboor and mobiles centers or shops tell me that i need to go to the alcatel center wich is in another city. No suggestions to buy a mobile.

A. An android upgrader? If a file you're looking for you can only find it with surveys it means it's more than likely a scam. Sounds too good to be true anyway if the phone can't run it, it can't run it. You can't magically change it to an extremely good phone.

How to unlock android galaxy?

Q.

A. There is several bits of software out there, however often this type of software is riddled with viruses and even keyloggers. My suggestion is to take it to a local phone shop who will usually do it for around £30

Does anyone know a good free website for a android phone or laptop to hack a facebook?
Q.

A. No... Firstly, 'hacking a facebook' is illegal if you mean hack in its dictionary definition. More likely, you probably want to phish or use a keylogger to obtain a password for someone else facebook account. Anyway, there are no free websites which will do this. Any you find online will probably be a virus site or such.

Can any android phone be updated to any android firmware?
Q. I'm thinking about getting a droid phone from cricket. Its on 2.1 and I was wondering could I find a newer firmware online and update it that way.Don't all android phones go threw the same firmware? The reason I'm asking this because, cricket hasn't came out with the update yet and I want it to updated for more fun such as multi touch?

A. The Android software on those phones are almost the same (in terms of running apps or functionality), but you cannot just update an android phone to any firmwire (like flashing a Droid X with HTC firmware), because there are factors, like hardware. Each firmware is designed to work on the phone it is supposed to work in so there are as fewer problems as possible. However, because of this, it can take a long time sometimes to get an official firmware out to the users, from the time Google releases a new Android version.

There are unofficial ways, however. You could root your phone and get modded 'newer' software for your phone. These are usually compiled by other android users. BUT, beware that rooting your phone and installing non-approved firmware could void its warranty and your carrier may end up canceling your service.

I need a really good phone?
Q. I am looking for a smartphone. Which phone is closest to be like the iPhone? Android or blackberry? These are the lists of the phones I can choose from.

Samsung Transfix
Blackberry Curve 8530

Which one is better.

A. Go with Android phones unless you are a big Apple lover like using iTune store or Mac.

I have an iphone4 for myself. I have friends who have an iPhone4s, a Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket and a Sony Ericsson Xperia arc S. Galaxy,Xperia and iphone4s come with a great digital camera. I wish my iPhone4 has a better camera like theirs. I like my iPhone4, the battery lasts long and I love the front camera.

Android phone does most of the features that the iphone does. You can even download some apps for free when you have to pay with the iPhone. Android also offers a great GPS using Google technology.

If I were you, I would choose an Android phone or iPhone4S whichever cheaper with a warranty.

I adore android! but im on a low budget :(!
So what is the cheapest of the androids.. and the best compared with its price?

A top 10/5 would be LOVELY!

A. the cheapest android devices are samsung galaxy mini(8000 rs), sony ericsson xperia x10 mini(10000 rs) xperia x8(9000 rs) and sony ericsson w8(10000rs)these all are cheapest price less than 200 dollar. Question on purchasing a Verizon Samsung i910 Omnia Touch Smart Cell Phone?

Q. I was wondering if this phone was decent? Worst phone you've ever had? I'm wanting to buy it and would like to hear opinions from some who own/have owned it.

A. It's a nice phone and one of the best touchscreen phones of 2008-2009. But it's a bit sluggish and you will not feel like using it if you've already used an Android phone or any touchscreen phone of 2010-2011.

Android user suggestions?
Q. I got my first android today (Samsung Infuse 4G with AT&T) and it's charging so I didn't really get to play around with it yet. I used it for a few minutes and I am very happy, considering I was using an Iphone 3g which I thought was HORRIBLE. Anyway I want to know how to adjust the brightness, know some good apps and what to expect when I plug it into my computer.

A. First... Welcome to Android!

Now.... Lets break your question down! LOL There is just toooooo much info to tell ya.. I'll be basic and let your learn the rest. We all were noobs at 1 point in life..

Anyway I want to know how to adjust the brightness
------------------ Settings app...... display... select your brightness to none, auto, or custom

know some good apps
------------------ Well, as of March 2011, there are about 275,000+ apps (60% are free)... Here is what I love...
*** LookOut Mobile Security - your #1 APP!!!! Scans all downlaods for viruses, malware, spyware, etc... Also, if you loose your phone, it will GPS track it on your mylookout account online! Also it has SIREN mode, turn the siren ON via the website and your phone will SCREAM until you turn it off on the website
*** Watchdog Task Manager - Makes sure apps dont go crazy and drain battery life. "Advanced Task Killer" is not meant for the Infuse!--- Please remember that!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*** next, PowerAmp - greatest MP3 player ever! You'll see why!
*** Handcent SMS - This apps will replace your stock texting app... customize ANYTHING about teh text... colors, themes, signatures, emoticons, fonts, display, tones, etc ANYTHING
*** Ringdroid - make your own ringtones from your current mp3 library
*** Free MP3 Download - never buy MP3s again!
*** Weatherbug - weather and radar at your fingertips
*** Dolphin Web HD - better internet browser than stock browser
*** Fusion Visual Voicemail - Free visual voicemail... drop that carrier paid stuff! SAVE MONEY!
*** Zedge - over 500,000 wallpapers, ringtones, notification tones.. ALL FREE!
There is just to much!!!!!!!! LOL LOL

what to expect when I plug it into my computer.
----------- Android has 4 USB settings... PC mode/suite (NEVER USE IT!), Windows Media SYNC, (NEVER USE IT), Mass storage mode, and Charge mode... When you first plug it in for the first time, you'll see a usb icon appear... go to notification bar on top... swing down... click the icon... you should be in Mass storage mode... if not, select it... Now, the phone will auto install drivers onto your pc... this will take about 5-15 minutes depending on your PC LOL... Take a break!..... Now, you should be cool... to sync your mp3s, you can do it 2 ways... I use Windows Media player... Let WMP sync to the phone.... the phone should appear in the upper right corner of WMP, go to sync tab.... now hit sync... depending on you library size, this can take a long time... Mine took 45 minutes (about 600 songs) LOL.... OR, if you tech savy, find your mp3s on yoru PC/laptop... copy all... go to My computer... your'll see your phone listed as a extra jump drive (mass storage mode)... open it... go to music folder... if its not there, make a folder called "Music". and paste all there!!!!!!!!! Do the same with your pictures... but paste in Picture folder... same with videos... but in Video folder... or let WMP do it all............. after that, disconnect from PC/laptop... powercycle phone for good measure.... open PowerAMP or stock music mp3 player... and enjoy! Open Gallery to see your pics... Open video player to wathc your vids.... Walla....!! Enjoy

There is just ALOT.. Dont get overwhelmed... play... learn... tap here.. tap there... read internet review and articles..... have fun

oh, and see www.androidcentral.com and maybe even my facebook page and twitter page for android news and updates, hacks, tips, etc. LOL.... Us Mods are friendly and wacky. LOL

best android phone for hd gaming at a price less than rs 15000?
Q. I want to play games like asphalt 7, gta 3. Also i dont want micromax or karbbon as they are not durable.

A. Have a look at Samsung galaxy S Advance and Galaxy S Duos. Both are good in your price range but they only have 8GB inbuilt storage out of which only 4GB is available for use. As you know GTA 3 itself is 2 GB game. And you install 2 games and you are out of storage.
My advice go for Spice Stellar Pinnacle MI530 or MI535. both have 16GB inbuilt storage and 1GB Ram.

unlocked android phones?

Q. captivate or nexus one? which would you recommend according to hardware quality, price, features? Why? also what year did those two come out to the market? thnx
if you choose the captivate, why not the nexus one? if you choose the nexus one, why not the captivate?

A. i bought a nexus one the day it was announced and unless Google makes another phone i am not getting rid of it.
its a flagship android phone meaning it will get all the updated first and that huge considering Google is pushing out updates and improvements faster than carrier can push them out.

nexus one currently has 2.2 froyo and has full flash support, it lets you tether(share you phone connection so you can go online with any device with wifi or usb) and froyo is super fast in general.

captivate is made by samsung, its missing a camera flash, does not have froyo and its running samsung touch wiz UI( which can delay the delivery of froyo to your phone) it does have a beast of a processor, the speed is the closest it gets to PS3, and after it gets froyo it will be very fast.

GO TO NEXUS ONE, its the best phone i have owned so far.

How can I connect internet from cable modem to my android phone?
Q. Except any PC ! I bought an ethernet adapter that helps -in word- converting ethernet cable to micro usb. But it doesn't work. What can I do?

A. Whoooa, Nellie. The Android is looking for a wifi [wireless] signal. You'll need to add a wifi router to your computer system.

The cable modem takes the cable signal (on its F-connector) and puts out computer signals (from its Ethernet connector). But the Android is only designed for attaching its USB cable to the USB jack of another computer, so the Android will appear as a USB hard drive on the big computer. The Android doesn't expect the output of a cable modem to be fed into its USB jack. For connectivity to the internet, the Android only uses wifi, and that means you'll need to add wifi to your cable modem system.

When you get the Android working on your wifi, you'll be amazed, and congratulations will be in order.

Back up and punt. The basic system is to run an Ethernet cable from the cable-modem's Ethernet jack to a computer's ethernet jack, to connect the computer to the internet.

The next evolution [in complexity and functionality] is to take the [ethernet] output of the cable modem and run it to a wifi router. The wifi router will split the internet connection, making it available to all your wifi enabled computers, Androids, smartphones, iPads, etc.

(USB-wifi-dongles to put an old computer on wifi can cost less than $20.)

And, actually achieving communications between the wifi router and the Android [and/or other computers and devices] will certainly be a learning experience, with a learning curve, and lots of googling and hair-pulling-out.

I like newegg.com for buying computer hardware, like routers. Go to their Router selection, and "Sort" the list by "Best Rating." High ratings will assure that you're getting good quality hardware AND good human usability. I have a Belkin N600 DB dual-band wifi router that I like a lot. It doesn't have the best ratings on newegg, but I found it in a brick-and-mortar store, bought it, and it works great for me.

"Dual band" means the router transmits on the traditional 2.4 GHz band and the newer 5 GHz band. You can save money if you don't have any 5 GHz equipment, and get a router that only transmits on 2.4 GHz. But if your Android works on 2.4 and 5 GHz, I'd get the dual-band wifi router.

I have a smart phone that connects to my wifi router. I can use it to talk to the router's web interface, make adjustments to its operation, etc., no computer necessary. However, a real computer with a real monitor makes it a lot easier. Check this out and tell me if you can't resist:
