Does anybody knows what's the next update for android gingerbread 2.3?

Q. I have a samsung exhibit 4g gingerbread

A. after 2.3 Gingerbread is the all new Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0....

but... i highly doubt Samsung will put ICS onto the exihibit... If they do plan on putting ICS onto the exhibit, then you wont see it until probably December 2012... Remember Wireless Marketing 101... only thr most popular and profitable phones get updated first... all 2nd and 3rd class phones get updated last---or if at all.....

in the mean time, you can google to see if someone made a ICS custom ROM for the exihibit, like XDA forums...

Can you switch phone but keep the same contract?

Q. I am with Koodo, I have unlimited texting and a limited amount of calls. I have an LG Android Optimus Chat, but I am thinking of starting to save up for a Blackberry Bold. Can I Stay with Koodo and keep my cheap plan but use a new phone instead? How wiuld I do that?

A. Sure can. Buy a new phone that's unlocked (or pay to get it unlocked) and then put your Koodo sim card into it and you're good to go. If you get a Blackberry Bold, please note that you must get a data package in order to use Blackberry Messenger. BBM will NOT work off WiFi.

New phones coming to KOODO?
Q. Does anyone know if there is a way to find out which phones Koodo will be adding in the near future?

A. Looks like they will get Android devices, which is awesome news! I always liked koodo and now that they will beef up their phone line up I like even more.

What are some good android phones?

Q. I am planning to get an android phone for my birthday, and I was wondering what are some good phones? I know the latest Android operating system is the Jelly Bean 4.2, so what are some phones that run on this system, or could be upgraded to this system?
I'm not interested in the Samsung Galaxy S3, but I was interested in the HTC One X+ and the HTC Windows 8 phone, and the Google Nexus 4.
Also, I was reading an article that was talking about phones that may be released later in 2013, like the Samsung Galaxy S4, Nokia Lumia 9xx, and HTC EVO 4G LTE 2.
So what would be the best choice at the moment? Buying a phone right now, or waiting? And which phone should I buy?

A. It's always better to wait but if you still want to buy a phone then Nokia Lumia 920 is best & HTC One X comes after it. Galaxy S3 is also good but you have already mentioned that you don't want it. And ofcourse Nexus 4 is also a great device. You can choose from these. Only wait for Galaxy S4 otherwise buy any of these phones.

Help! with SD card in my Android phone please!?
Q. When I first got my Android phone, I of course got the microSD card so I can take pictures. It worked fine for the first few days. Now, it is saying there is no SD card (when there is) and won't let me take any new pictures. And when I try to tap "mount SD card" it says it's a blank card. But I have already taken lots of pictures on it. I don't know if the problem is in the phone or the card itself, But I'm afraid I have lost all the pictures I took?? :(
???ADVICE PLEASE???
Oh, and we live in Europe, so we don't have any sort of contract with anyone.
My phone is a GT-S5830i Gingerbread.

A. Well, to be obvious, there can be three things wrong:

1. The hardware of your phone (The phone itself can't read cards),
-or-
2. The software of your phone (Due to an update it's 'driver' that helps it read the card broke so you can't read the card anymore)
-or-
3. The SD Card itself (When electricity flows through electrical components, they break slowly. Maybe it was it's time. It's rare, but normal).

Before you can fix the issue, you'll have to 'troubleshoot' the problem and see what it was.

1. You'll need to update your phone or roll it back (if you know how) to see if it's the software of your phone.

2. If this still hasn't fixed your problem, if you have another SD Card around try plugging it in. Ask a friend or a colleague if you can borrow theirs (or buy a new one) if you really wish to.

3. If you can't read other people's SD Cards - your phone has gone bad.

4. But if you can read other people's SD Cards - your SD card is broken.

Alternatively:

1. You can try getting a SD Card adapter for your PC (make sure it supports the tiny one you use) - they're cheap and you will find yourself using it often.

2.You can try reading your SD Card from the SD Card adapter - if you can read the SD Card on your PC but not on your phone, your phone is likely the troublemaker.

3. If you can't read the SD Card, it's broken.

If you have identified your problem:

1. If your SD Card is broken, get a replacement. You can find a technician offer services of retrieving data from broken memory (such as a SD Card) and they should be able to recover some of the things you have on it.

2. If your Phone is broken, get a replacement. You can talk to a technician to fix it for you or replace the broken parts.

3. If updating or rolling back your system fixed the issue, you have a company to be angry at ;)

I hope this helps. There isn't really much you can do other than those steps, unless you find analytical software to check your phone and SD Cards for errors (usually it's a program you install on your computer) - but I don't have any to recommend to you and it's often quite technical and doesn't always find the problem.

PS:
I hope you have learned your lesson from this - always back up your things! Copy your SD card contents over to your computer regularly (monthly?) and then, when they are on your computer, (assuming you have a Windows PC) simply right click the files, from the drop-down menu "Send To", then "Compressed (zipped) folder".

This will store the files in a .zip file that will save space on your computer and will hold the backed up files.

Also, if you followed the backup steps, you will have 3 copies of your files. One on your Phone, second one on your PC (the files you just copied) and third - inside the zipped folder. You can erase the second one on your PC (the files you just copied) as you just copied it again into a .zip folder.

Make sure you name the .zip folder appropriately (and don't erase the .zip on the end of the name if it's there!!!) such as "My Pictures 23 May 2013" so you know what it is later on ;)

Good medium-sized Android Phones?

Q. My Droid Incredible is beyond repair :) and I need a new phone. Even though 90% of my school has an iphone, I am a strong Apple-hater. :) I would like a phone that functions well, has a good camera (front and back) and is small enough to fit into my pocket. Thank you!!!

A. The best android phone currently in the market would be the HTC One then followed by the Samsung Galaxy S4. If you watch a lot of videos on your phone then the HTC One would fit you as it has speakers that face towards you and an all aluminum build makes it look more like a high quality phone than the S4's plastic build. If you like taking pictures or download a lot on your phone then the S4 would be the better choice as its' camera is better and it allows for a microSD card.

iPhone or Android Phone?
Q. So I am going to get a new phone in a few weeks, but I dont know which one to get. I am debating between the iPhone or an Android phone like HTC Aria. I want one that is touch screen, has a keyboard, and is not huge, but for AT&T.

A. Get an android phone.try sony ericson xperia pro or mini pro.android is customisable and has a better market.

Is an Android 4 Phone a Better Deal than 2?

Q. I am looking for a prepaid phone and I am not sure what the difference is between Android 4.0-4.2 and Android 2.0-2.3. Is getting on or the other any better of a deal? Can I upgrade my phone to the newest Android model? Thanks!

A. The 4.0's are the latest updated androids
The 2.0's are the first androids or the first software . I recommend the 4.0s since it's faster and upgraded . If you get the 2.0's you will come across a lot of apps on the play store or android market that you can't use since your phone has an old version of android.

Do all android 4.0 phones take screen shots with the vol down and power button?
Q. I'm ordering a straight talk phone either on Monday or Tuesday... I'm either getting the huawei ascend plus, or Galaxy Centura. Both run android 4.0. I read online that if you hold thepower + down vol button on at the same time it will take a screenshot.I just want a confirmation of that! Thank you!

These are the phones...

A. As far as I know, that's correct. That method worked on my Android 4.0 tablet, and my last phone, and my current phone (all different brands).

If not, then the HTC Desire V - Same thing, but slightly older parts (still 1Ghz), and 4 inch screen

If you're a Samsung fan, the Nexus S is a great choice, it's 4 inches and has an ICS update. It's cool because it has a curved screen like the GNex :)

A. not an android phone. kids at a young age dont need a fancy phone, they might think they dont or they might want it because its "cool" to have one now a days. but actually all they need is a simple phone for calling and texting, nothing special.

kids dont need data plans, tv,apps, etc. on their phones

just get him a normal phone

What are the advantages having android operating system on mobile phone?
Q. What are the complete advantages and features of android os behind symbian os?? Please answer me because i am planning to buy an android mobile ranging 7 to 10k Indian rupees.THANK YOU

A. for budget of 7k-10k android doesnt offer much, maybe some basic apps, you need to buy atleast in range of 17k to get full potential of os,like flash support on browser, future update like ics,hd gaming 800*480 resolution,hd recording etc.for 7-10k symbian is safe bet coz most android phone at the price have terrible battery backup, call and signal quality issues, stability issues etc.

Should I buy an Android or iOS Phone?

Q. I am in the market for a new smartphone, and I am unsure if I should buy an iOS or Android device. Don't get me wrong, I know enough about technology and all, but I have been a common user of iOS currently, and have little to no idea of the long-term benefits of Android. If an iPhone should I wait for the 5, because of the unveiling of iOS 5? If an Android is it really worth it to buy a 4G phone? If an Android is Motoblur, HTC Sense, or Touchwiz the overall best skin for Android?

Thanks Guys!

The first thing is: Do you want to be connected like using whats app, getting news and just browse through the internet or do you want some power in your mobile phone and pay a high amount of money for extras like a good camera or some other extra things...

I give you some suggestions which should help you a bit. I tell you something from my experience. Maybe some other users tell you something different but this is just the way it works in yahoo answeres.

First of all I can advice the galaxy series from samsung, If you wish an android you can find for different needs the right phone. There are more than 20 different variants of phones or tablets so maybe one phone matches with your plan to buy a new android phone.

The best of them is in my opinion the Samsung Galaxy S2.

You have everything what you need
Pro:
- Camera with flashlight
- flash player
- fast internet (also with boost)
- micro sd card slot to expand your memory to 32 GB
- dual core processor 1,2 GHz (for fast loading of apps and internet sites)
- a long duration of your batteries (up to 2-3 days with using it a bit... after long use you have just one day but you have this problem with every modern smartphone)
- big and clear display (4,5")

Con:
- high price
- big mobile phone
- most of it is plastic

I am using a Samsung Galaxy S i9000 (the generation before the S2) and I am full satisfied with it. Payed less money and can do everything what I want with a good speed.

An another good mobile phone is HTC Sensation XE

It is a good music player and has a 1,5 GHz dual core which can open fast apps and internet sites
The display has also a good size (4,3") and you have also per charge a good duration for 1-2 days.
The camera takes like the galaxy s2 nice pictures with 8 MP.

There are also some mobile phones which cost less money and are good for browsing... but have of course less quality

My girlfriend has a samsung galaxy y and is a small mobile phone which has less power but costs only a piece of the big ones.

Pro:
- Long Batterie duration after charge
- Cheap Mobile Phone
- Good browsing
- Not so much pre installed apps in it

Con:
- less power
- bad camera but in good light you can take some nice pictures (3,2 MP)
- No slot for Micro SD Card

I hope I could give you some advices for your future buy.

Maybe you watch some videos or rating sites who test the mobile phones or go try yourself an android mobile phone in an electronic store. In some stores they put out some devices for testing purpose. It depends only what you really want with your phone. A cheap one can be sometimes better than an expensive one :)

what android phone should I buy at the budget of 10000 to 20000???????????????????????????????
Q. I want to buy a phone between 10000 to 20000. I am confused. Plz help me ASAP

A. $1,000 to $2,000 for a phone???? That's what's confusing, no phone should cost that much! And if u meant $100.00 to $200.00 you didn't type it clearly but for that you can get a older version of the iPhone which I happen to own and love!

Q. I just got the samsung aspire from metropcs. I don't understand how to get the calendar app to work. Every time I try to add an event or note it just tells me "you have no calendars" and doesn't allow me to fill anything in.

When I click the calendar button on settings menu, the screen stays black like its loading but nothing ever comes up.

So. i don't understand. pls help?
5 stars

p.s. i also tried dling another calendar app but it did the same thing.

A. f you have a Google Gmail account set up on your Android phone, you can use your account information along with Google Calendar Sync to synchronize Microsoft Outlook Calendar. You'll need to download and install the free software application on a Windows computer. Currently, Microsoft Outlook versions 2003, 2007 and 2010 are compatible with Google Calendar Sync. Check to make certain that your Microsoft Outlook version, and Windows computer are compatible with Google Calendar Sync.
1,Turn off any syncing applications that you have synced to Microsoft Outlook Calendar on your computer.
2.Open your Web browser. Type the following URL address in the search field and press the "Search" button.
3.Click the "Save File" button when the pop-up box appears on your desktop. Double-click on the Google Calendar Sync installer icon and follow Windows' installation instructions.
4.Double-click on the Google Calendar Sync icon to launch the application, if it doesn't automatically open.
5.Open the Web browser on your Android phone. Type the URL address, "google.com/calendar" in the search field. Click the "Search" button.
6.Type your Gmail email address in the "Email" field. Enter your password in the "Password" field. Click the radio button next to "2-way" to sync Google Calendar Sync with Microsoft Outlook Calendar. Enter a number in the blank "Sync every ..." minutes field to set the sync interval minutes. Click the "Save" button.
7.Check the lower-right side of the taskbar on your computer. Right-click on the Google Calendar Sync icon. A drop-down menu will appear on your desktop with the following options, "Sync", "Stop Sync", "Options", and "Exit".
8.Select the "Sync" option from the drop-down menu. Google Calendar Sync and Microsoft Outlook Calendar will automatically start synchronizing your events information.
9.Go to the Home screen on your Android phone and press the "Menu" button. Click the "Accounts" button. Select your Gmail email account from the listing. Click the "Sync Calendar" button.

Which in is best for educational purpose?lumia or android?

Q. i am a college student,my budget is in between Rs-5000 and 9000..suggest me a smart phone between android and lumia thats suits my need and budget..

A. Hi Tridona,

I'd recommend the Nokia Lumia 520, for around 8820Rs.
http://www.flipkart.com/nokia-lumia-520/p/itmdj5f6zyyqy6dh?pid=MOBDJ4ZNC7PTMG68&otracker=from-search&srno=t_4&query=nokia+lumia+520&ref=5e775b37-0cc9-45f9-8242-70abc04c02a5

It has Microsoft Office built in; for Word, PowerPoint, Excel and OneNote built in. There's support for almost any email account (including Yahoo!, Microsoft and Google); with support for multiple inboxes.
It has Facebook, Twitter, Skype and Xbox also built in. There's Nokia Music for completely free and unlimited music mixes, and the world's best maps. The home screen makes it really easy to organise all your favourite people, apps and information.

It has 8GB of storage with expandable memory, a 5MP camera and a super sensitive 4" touchscreen.

Hope this helps!

Which is the best Android phone or iPhone?

Q.

A. All android running Samsung has worst battery life .
If u play normal games a full charge s2 will die in 3.5 Hours n if u play 3d Games it will die in less than 2 hours of full charge . N even if u search web battery dies soon . Take iPhone as u can play upto 8 hours of Normal n 4 hours of 3d hd games.

Go for iPhone cuz -
625000 apps to select from.
Free iPhone to iPhone imsg
Free video call to any Idevice via wi fi
Best music player of apple iPod inbuilt .
Best touch experience
Most user friendly operating system
U will get free 3d map in next update
Siri virtual assistance can call n MSG ppl n do much more just by using ur voice .
iCloud to back up everything .
Plus is had retina display with 339ppi which is highest n no other has such awesome display n graphics .
"N IF U DONT HAVE AN IPHONE U DON'T HAVE AN IPHONE" ;)

Gaming in android phones?
Q. i am planning to buy an android(samsung galaxy ace) mobile. My primary objective is gaming. i want to know all the games will work on it or not..what i meant is.... should i think about the processor and graphics and all sort of things like that before buying....

A. Avoid galaxy ace first. It is suitable only for low end gaming and good looking(looks like iphone). In order to solve your question, you must reveal your budget.
If your budget is below RS 20000(approximately $400)(I am from india and it is indian rupee), go for sony xperia sola which has 3.7" screen with floating touch technology. If it is around RS 16500($325) go for sony xperia U with 3.5" screen.remember it does not have memory card slot and 4Gb to store your music and videos + 2Gb to store your apps.it is very powerful that it has highly energy efficient novathor 1 Ghz dual core cpu and mali 400 mp gpu to handle graphics intensive tasks.
I don't tell you to go for samsung ,because it just does not produce value for money smartphones for medium range(not high end).
If you want to store higher data,go for HTC one v available for RS 17500($350).But it has only single core cpu and adreno 205 gpu which is not powerful as mali 400mp.If your budget is again low go for sony xperia mini which has great display and 1 Ghz cpu and much better specs than Ace.Only disadvantage is 3" screen.
However it is your choice and select a suitable one.

help with Android stuff?

Q. I'm a beginner android user so i don't understand a lotta things for example what' s the difference between Hgva and Qvga? And what does it mean when you must have your device rooted? Can somebody help me?

A. 1. hvga and qvga are screen resolution size where hvga=320x480(usually any android phone of which screen is about 3.5-3.7 inch) while qvga is 240x320(usually a phone with 3.0-3.2 inch). Those hvga and qvga terms usually used to match any compatible software(mainly for game resolution) so that it'll fit the screen properly when running the app but many games and app set on multiscreen resolution, some games which need extra/additional data "usually" run on specific resolution so that u need to find the right one like games from gameloft, angrymob, etc. If ur phone's an hvga device, u can search on google "download (name of the game) for hvga device"
2. Rooting mean gets acces to android system to modify its default settings or files go it, getting root acces to run certain root apps, etc. Some apps require root acces to enable it to work well.

What are some cool smart phones?
Q. Need to get one used but can't decide.

It's okay if they are a little old for example I'm diggin the g1.

Tell me a little about the ones thanks

A. For Android phones, I would go with either the Samsung Galaxy S3 or HTC One X. They both have large and very vibrant screens (4.8 inch for samsung and 4.7 inch for HTC) and are very fast and capable. Basically, they are the front runners for Android right now, they can do everything. If you are looking for used, the Galaxy S2 or Galaxy Nexus are great as well.

People will bash iPhones all day long, but the fact of the matter is that they are actually excellent phones. They are very simple and user friendly. They always work and run smoothly. The screen on the iphone is only 3.5 inches but you may prefer the smaller screens. The iphone that is coming out in a few months will probably have a bigger screen (4 inches or so).

Basically, if you like a very customized phone, Android are better because you can do more things and they have much larger screens. iPhones are easy to use and very reliable. It is really a personal choice, you can't go wrong with any of those!

Verizon android phone?

Q. Hi. Do any of you know what the best android phone on verizon is? I am looking for something around $200, so the note 3 is out. I need something that will last me a while, thanks

A. The best Android phones that Verizon offer around $200 are:
Samsung Galaxy S4
HTC One
LG G2
Moto X

However the Galaxy S4 and HTC One are a bit on the old side as they're soon to be replaced with next gen phones in a few months.
The Galaxy Note 3 is good too, but it costs $299.99 w/ a contract.

unlocking android phone?
Q. My friend has an Android phone. She got for Easter. It has been used before, but didn't have an email set up with it. And she made the lock pattern when she was half asleep, doesn't remember it at all. She can;t log into any Google account to unlock it though. What does she do
? and no, the phone doesn't currently have service, if that would have anything to do with unlocking it.
"x" button? D:
Where is that at?
I have no idea what i am doing wrong, but I cant find any instructions that work. it's a US Cellular LG Android. that is all i know. And when i search that it doesn't work.

A. if you cant figure out the password, there is a way to preform a factory reset, if necessary. I had an Android before and it was done by holding the "x" button while starting up. This is very drastic and only should be done if no other solution is available.

what is the best android phone from verizon?

Q. im thinking of upgrading to a smart phone. Just want to know whats the best.

A. droid x- for bigger screen and better camera but droid 2 if you want a keyboard and android 2.2

verizon iphone vs droid?
Q. hey! so my my mom gets a new phone tomorrow. she currently has the second droid that ever came out.
she's been having a TON of problems with her droid in the past two years! example: email not working, phone breaking, touch screen not working.
i have an iphone and LOVE it.

so my question is:
should she get the verizon iphone or another verizon droid??

and also:
she doesn't use her gmail at ALL, she only had to make it so she could get the droid.

A. get a new android phone, like the galaxy s2, the one(2011) are far better than the ipone, and with a app called "double twist" you can sync all your itunes music to your android

I prefer android over apple for the reason that its open-source, that means that the majority of the apps are free, and you get more revolutionary and cutting edge apps. And do things are even only barely available on a jail broken iphone
The android market already has 250000 apps- closing in on apple 500000; some say it will surpass it before the year is over. Also any popular iphone game or game adaptation can be found in the android market for free.
Another great thing about android as that if you dont like something (keyboard, homescreen, etc.) it can easily be swapped without jail-breaking, unlike the iphones one-size-fits-all approach.

Other features only on android
Turn-by-turn voice GPS
Better and larger screen
No need to connect to computer to sync
Here is a big one, add a sd card
Live wallpaper
Better calls
4g
More customizable
More powerful hardware
Flash support, watch ALL the online videos

Apple lovers that say that the iphone is made of better quality material? They dont realize that Samsung, an android phone maker, supplys the screen, processor and memory for apple devices, so android has the advantage here.
The iphone is pretty, but not durable, drop it once- it breaks, all that glass around it? That was honestly a mistake. Android manufactures clearly saw that, and decided to do with something a little more durable.

And the iphones retina display is a huge scam. By definition a retina display is one where the human eye cannot distinguish individual pixels. But this is determined by several factors; most important being the distance between the screen and your eyes. The iphones retina distance is 12in, move any closer than that- say 7in and its no longer a retina screen because your eyes can now see the pixels, by that same token, if I move my android phone back, to say 16-17in, amazingly, it becomes a retina screen as well! (feel free to google this)

Also apple never invents anything, all they do is steal old technology, give it a fresh coat of paint and mass advertise it as magical and innovating, thus fooling the mass of the population into believing that apple offers cutting edge technology, that in fact has been around for quite a few years.
So instead of innovating, apple actually hinders technology- after 4 years they still have low-power single core phones, while android, an example of technology in overdrive, has rumored that, after their second year, the release of quad core phones that will surpass even some desktop computers in shear processing power.

Apple should now feel pretty worried; android has passed it in market share
http://www.businessinsider.com/android-iphone-market-share-2011-4

Then apple panics and sues
http://www.dailytech.com/Google+ExCEO+Apple+Doesnt+Innovate+They+Sue/article22190.htm
The funny thing is that apple cant sue for being the first touchscreen or tablet, because they werent,(Nokia fist touch screen, archos first tablet) so instead they sue for much more relevant things like, the rounded icon corners and having a flat screen or the square shape of the phone..

To top it all, if youve seen apples 2011 presentation, they blatantly copied over five "new" features that were previously on android.
http://androidandme.com/2011/06/news/five-features-in-ios-5-that-show-how-apple-is-now-playing-catch-up-to-google/

http://www.droid-life.com/2011/06/06/apple-introduces-ios5-with-notifications-ota-updates-and-tabbed-browsing-android-users-giggle-at-their-late-arrival/
1. Notification bar
2. Twitter integration
3. No need to connect to PC to sync
4. Launch apps from lock screen
5. Tabbed browsing

And not only are they copies, but apple didnt even bother to improve, or change some of them in any way- some even have LESS features than their android counter parts, its basically a cheap imitation with the ever-popular iphone skin.
According to Steve jobs, these "revolutionary" new technologies that android users had since 2007 will be available on IOS5, and it would not surprise me to see some more android features from 2008 on IOS6.But the truly sad part is that due to apples marketing, in a few months, apple lovers will really think that apple invented those features and call android the copycatsyet again.

Though I suppose Google shouldve seen it coming.

Good artists copy great artist steal- Steve jobs (apple CEO)

I want a phone with a Good operating system like Android and with Camera 12 M.P?

Q. It should have 12 M.P Camera xenon flash ,auto focus ,HD touch screen , Wi-Fi and Tv out function
My sim operation is Vodafone
I know that this options are in Nokia n8 But i really not intersted in it
I want a Comparison between Sony ericsson Xperia X10 and the Satio
To all thxx for all who suggested n8 for me but i'm really not interseted in it's design

A. No Android phone has a 12 MP camera. The only recent phone with 12 MP is the Nokia N8 which seems to meet most of your wants/requirements. Unfortunately, the N8 runs on Symbian^3 which ain't as good as Android but still gets the job done.

----------

Didn't see your additional details before. An alternative so far would be the Samsung Galaxy S which only has a 5 MP camera but still does pretty well in quality and sound and does run on Android and can connect to Wi-Fi. Unfortunately, it doesn't connect to TVs and has a flash light for the camera. A camera doesn't exactly need to have a high megapixel number to have a good quality. Try comparing a few phones and you'll see what I mean (eg: try comparing the camera on the HTC Desire HD which has 8 MP and then compare it to the Galaxy S or the iPhone which has 5 MP).

If you have patients, wait for the LG Optimus 2X which will meet all your demands. Android, 8 MP Camera which can record in 1080p (the 1st phone that can), LED flash (Xenon flash is harder to find these days), QHD 4" Touch screen, Wi-Fi, HDTV Output.

-------------------

You wouldn't really want the Sony Ericsson Satio as it runs on Symbian^1 so it works like a Nokia N8 but worse because Symbian^1 is way slower (very laggy), hard to use, buggy, quite unsupported nowadays. The Xperia X10 is average. It runs on Android 2.1 Eclair which is an older version and Sony Ericsson has already ditched support for it. For something newer, wait for the Sony Erricson Xperia Arc which is larger (the screen) and is the slimmest phone at the moment and also has an 8.1 MP camera and runs on Android 2.3 Gingerbread which is the current version. Get Xperia Arc, don't get the Xperia X10 or Satio.

On camera phones, how big a difference is there between Xenon flash, and LED flash?
Q. In terms of photo quality, how big is the difference between camera flash types? What about Dual LED flash compared with Xenon?

I am a big photography enthusiast, and own the Nokia N8 which takes fantastic photos. However, I'm thinking of getting a HTC Desire HD phone (as I prefer Android software, and the bigger screen). I know there would be a slight compromise in camera quality (Nokia N8 has 12mp camera and Xenon flash, where Desire has 8mp camera and Dual LED flash).

So, how big is the difference between the two types?

A. If you're a photography enthusiast, you should know that megapixel has nothing to do with image quality. Xenon flash is much powerful than LED flash. Dual LED is good but still not better than Xenon. Still you can go to the store and check for yourself. Nokia N8 has good image quality compared to HTC Desire HD.

How can I update my android phone?

Q. I have an AT&T unlocked phone (Samsung INFUSE 4G) with Simple Mobile. Each time I go to settings -> Software update, it says that the software is up to date, but I have 2.2.1
It has: Build number: FROYO.UCKH1 if is any help.

A. Many Android phones with older versions of Android will never get updated. Whether or not a phone gets updated depends on whether the phone company (AT&T) and the phone's manufacturer (Samsung) think it's worth doing. Usually a new phone model will get updates for maybe a year after it's first available, but after that it may not.

However, even if there is no official update, you might still be able to update your phone anyway, but only if someone has made a newer unofficial version of Android available for your specific phone... and your phone is rooted (because you can't install an unofficial update unless your phone is rooted).

Here are instructions for rooting your phone: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1428411

And once you've done that, here's a list of other unofficial Android versions you can install: http://alchemistar.blogspot.com/2011/06/samsung-infuse-4g-custom-rom-list.html

P.S. Rooting and updating on your own is a tricky technical process and things can sometimes go wrong if you don't know what you're doing, leaving your phone in an unusable state.

Android phone or iPhone 5?
Q. I`ve had the iPhone 4 for about a year now and am starting to get a little bored of it.I like iOS but android seems very compelling.I don`t know if i should get an android phone or just wait for the iPhone 5.

A. get a droid phone, and with a app called "double twist" you can sync all your itunes music to your android,
http://www.tested.com/news/the-best-android-phone-for-your-network-july-2011/2660/

I prefer android over apple for the reason that its open-source, that means that the majority of the apps are free, and you get more revolutionary and cutting edge apps, and do things are even only barely available on a jail broken iphone

Despite the false rumors, The iphone is also just as, if not more vulnerable to viruses as android
http://www.pcworld.com/article/183763/experts_not_surprised_by_iphone_malicious_app_report.html

Other features only on android
Turn-by-turn voice GPS
Better and larger screen
No need to connect to computer to sync
Here is a big one, add a sd card
Live wallpaper
widgets

Also apple never invents anything, there never the first. All they do is steal old technology, give it a fresh coat of paint and mass advertise it as magical and innovating, thus fooling the mass of the population into believing that apple offers cutting edge technology, that in fact has been around for quite a few years.
So instead of innovating, apple actually hinders technology- after 4 years they still have low-power single core phones, while android, an example of technology in overdrive, has rumored that, after their second year, the release of quad core phones that will surpass even some desktop computers in shear processing power. (now any 2011 android is smoother and faster than the iphone)

Apple should now feel pretty worried; android has passed it in market share
http://www.businessinsider.com/android-iphone-market-share-2011-4

Then apple panics and sues
http://www.dailytech.com/Google+ExCEO+Apple+Doesnt+Innovate+They+Sue/article22190.htm
The funny thing is that apple cant sue for being the first touchscreen or tablet, because they werent,(Nokia fist touch screen, archos first tablet) so instead they sue for much more relevant things like, the rounded icon corners and having a flat screen or the square shape of the phone..

To top it all, if youve seen apples 2011 presentation, they blatantly copied over five "new" features that were previously on android.
http://androidandme.com/2011/06/news/five-features-in-ios-5-that-show-how-apple-is-now-playing-catch-up-to-google/
http://www.droid-life.com/2011/06/06/apple-introduces-ios5-with-notifications-ota-updates-and-tabbed-browsing-android-users-giggle-at-their-late-arrival/
1. Notification bar
2. Twitter integration
3. No need to connect to PC to sync
4. Launch apps from lock screen
5. Tabbed browsing

And not only are they copies, but apple didnt even bother to improve, or change some of them in any way- some even have LESS features than their android counter parts, its basically a cheap imitation with the ever-popular iphone skin.
According to Steve jobs, these "revolutionary" new technologies that android users had since 2007 will be available on IOS5, and it would not surprise me to see some more android features from 2008 on IOS6.But the truly sad part is that due to apples marketing, in a few months, apple lovers will really think that apple invented those features and call android the copycatsyet again.

Though I suppose Google shouldve seen it coming.

Good artists copy great artist steal- Steve jobs (apple CEO)

should I wait for a better Verizon 4G LTE Android phone?
Q. I want the best 4G LTE Android phone on Verizon. So far the HTC Thunderbolt is a the top of my list. The Samsung Charge has that bluish tint and bloat that annoys me about samsung phones. LG model doesn't look impressive. Is the Droid bionic ever coming out? What about the Droid X2?

A. " want the best 4G LTE Android phone on Verizon"

you mean the one that;s the best now? How can somebody tell you that a better one won;t come out in a few months?

If you want to know what people think about existing phones, your best bet is to go to Verizon's site and read user reviews there. Verizon apparently doesn't prevent people from venting about their phone.

Is there an android phone as reliable as an iPhone?
Q. I have owned a few android smart phones and switched to an iPhone 4 about 2 years ago. I have previously had an HTC Aria, lasted about a year and got really laggy and unresponsive so I then got a LG Optimis Elite and that phone lasted about 8 months and slowed way down and very app on the phone froze, then I had the Samsung Galaxy S2 for about 9 months and then the same thing started to get slow and unresponsive. Then when I switched to iPhone amazing speed super reliable no freezes, great battery life, and a year later is still running the same. I don't get it is there a reliable android phone? If there isn't why not?

A. I think if you any android phones that came out 2013. It'll be as reliable as an iphone.

I do know what you mean when android slows down as time passes and more apps are installed. On the iPhone it rarely does that.

Now I have a Nexus 5 with Kit Kat. I must say it's pretty fast and smooth. iPhone still has a little better transition graphics, but I can always change my transitions now because I'm running android.

Finding unlocked Android phones under $100?

Q. The current phone I have is from sprint and by the time my prepaid card runs out, I'll probably need a new phone. This phone was only $60, it's a Samsung (dunno what it is EXACTLY). It has a qwerty keyboard, touchscreen, wifi, & 3.5 inch screen. It's an android 2.3. I just want a phone with wifi, a qwerty keyboard (if possible), & a decent size screen. I don't exactly have a big budget either, so preferably I want an android phone around under $100 to $140 at the most.

A. ok i have a smartphone android it has wifi, keyboard, and decent size like u said

What are the pros and cons of Samsung Galaxy y?

Q.

A. Samsung Galaxy Y S5360 is an Android Gingerbread phone with 3" capacitive touchscreen display. The phone offers Bluetooth, 3G, and Wi-Fi connectivity. It has 2MP camera with video recording feature. The phone has social networking app and IM to let users stay in touch. Other features include A-GPS, push email, 832MHz processor, and 32GB expandable memory. In this article lets see some of the good and the disadvantages of Samsung Galaxy Y S5360. And to start with, here are some of the Good features of Samsung Galaxy Y S5360:Very responsive touch screen and also excellent Battery Life, I've downloaded angry birds and other games and it worked well, no lags whatsoever. YouTube videos in HD showed very good on the dolphin HD browser.Battery life is up to 3 days on standby, but I tried using it often for today to drain the battery and it lasted around more than 10 hours, with me playing games and using Wi-Fi.

Disadvantages are here:It only has android 2.3, and most mobile running froyo can be upgraded to 2.3.Its screen is too small & resolution of the screen is pathetic, typing SMS will be much tougher. Also, many android apps will not run in this resolution.Another thing the inbuilt browser doesn't support embedded flash video, but with dolphin HD browser you can see any video. The browser is really smooth and no lag.In any Android phone from Samsung can use the Dolphin Browser to support flash. You can download Dolphin HD browser from Android Market. If you face problem with Bluetooth connectivity, and if you are not able to connect Samsung Galaxy Y S5360 with your laptop as a modem through Bluetooth, and if you feel that there is some problem in Bluetooth, make a note that, Android Bluetooth devices are not discoverable by default. so maybe you need to turn on Bluetooth visibility which turns visibility on for 2 minutes only. menu-->wireless and network --> Bluetooth settings --> visible (tick)If you still not happy with your mobile, Don't do anything just go to your seller and tell him to replace it with a new phone. Don't go 2 service centre. There is a 7day replacement guarantee. Just force your seller to replace it with a new phone.Samsung Galaxy Y S5360 at this price range of Rs.7000 is good. Excellent buy, you won't regret it for all the features of this phone. Very efficient and affordable. Go for this phone if u have low budget.

Whats the best prepaid android phone?

Q. Ok, so i need a prepaid android phone with a plan thats 50 dollars or less with unlimited web and text. But most importantly it has to have a really really good battery life!

A. Probably the best prepaid plan for unlimited web and messaging is the Virgin Mobile Beyond Talk plan that gives you 300 anytime minutes per month, along with unlimited web and messaging. It costs me $25.00 a month plus tax and fees. Here in the U.S., that comes out to $27.19 a month. There is no contract. This is the plan I have.
The best Android phone they have on the plan is, in my opinion, the LG Optimus V. This is the phone I have. They also have a new phone available called the Motorola Triumph that looks nice. Of course, you have to buy the phone outright. The LG Optimus V is $149.99 + tax; the new Motorola Triumph is $299.99 + tax.
Keep in mind that these phones are 3G only (are not 4G enabled), and only work on Sprint's 3G network. There is no roaming on other carrier's networks. So as long as you are within range of a Sprint tower, you are OK.
As far as battery life goes, no Android smart phone has "really really good battery life." The display screen takes a lot of power, as does the transmit function when you are making calls, sending emails and messages, or surfing the web. Even playing games uses a lot of battery power for the display.
To put it in perspective, keep in mind that these smart phones are essentially micro-computers with cell phone functions. How long can you reasonably expect a small 1300 to 1500 mAh battery to last?
Depending on your phone settings, screen brightness level, and how much you use the phone, you should be able to get 6 to 12 hours of "normal" usage with the phone with a fully charged battery. If the phone is just 'on' (standby mode) with the screen darkened, you might get upward of 24 to 48 hours of standby time.
Most people I know who own a smart phone, including myself, charge it every evening so that it is fully charged in the morning when they go to work or whatever. It's also a very good idea to have a charger available wherever you are, so that you can plug in the phone to charge it if the battery runs low.
The other option is to have a spare battery, or buy an external phone charger that has a built-in battery.
Some folks opt to buy an extended life battery. This usually means that you also have to change the rear cover of the phone, because the extended life battery is physically thicker than the standard battery, so the original cover will not fit with the extended life battery.

Hope this info helps you out.

I'll pay up to 300$ for it, maybe 50-100$ more if it's worth it. I use my phone a lot for Social networking also.
Please help, this is greatly appreciated(:
