what is the best android phone?

Q. hi i was looking into getting a android phone but which on is best the 1 with the fold out type board or the full touch 1 thanks!.

A. The Samsung Captivate is the most advanced Android phone ever created. It has a 4-inch Super AMOLED screen which is the brightest screen currently available on a phone. It also has the most responsive touch screen keyboard of any phone on the market.

What is the best phone on the market?
Q. Best android phone. (I don't like I phones)
And what is the best tablet on the market?

A. Best android phone I'd have to say Nexus 4, but if you wait a month, a whole heap more will be coming out (MWC), and my guess is a lot of them will be the 5-inch 1080p phones which seem to be the Android trend for the year.

Tablet, depends on whether Android or Windows 8 or whatever else you had in mind. And on your purpose. 7-inch, 10-inch, bigger etc.

Is my rooted android the reason my sytem update keeps failing?

Q. My husband rooted my phone. I don't know what it does. I don't even use it and now I keep trying to do a system update and it fails. I can't call Verizon because I have a rooted phone. Help!

A. Restore to the stock Android firmware.

By the way, rooting is a process allowing users of mobile phones, tablet PCs, and other devices running the Android operating system to attain privileged control (known as "root access") within Android's subsystem. Rooting is often performed with the goal of overcoming limitations that carriers and hardware manufacturers put on some devices, resulting in the ability to alter or replace system applications and settings, run specialized apps that require administrator-level permissions, or perform other operations that are otherwise inaccessible to a normal Android user. Rooting is analogous to jailbreaking devices running the Apple iOS operating system or the Sony PlayStation 3. On Android, rooting can also facilitate the complete removal and replacement of the device's operating system.

As Android was derived from the Linux kernel, rooting an Android device is similar in practice to accessing administrative permissions on Linux or any other Unix-like computer such as FreeBSD or OS X.

Description
Most devices running Android must be rooted in order to install custom versions of the Android system such as CyanogenMod. The stock configuration (unrooted), user-installed applications do not have direct access to the flash memory chip on the device and are not able to replace or modify the operating system itself. Rooting is also necessary for certain applications and widgets that require additional system and hardware rights such as rebooting the phone, certain backup utilities, and other access to other hardware such as status LEDs. Rooting is also needed to disable or remove manufacturer-installed applications such as City ID. Rooting the phone typically also includes installing an application called Superuser that supervises which applications are granted root rights.
In contrast to iOS jailbreaking, rooting is not needed to run applications not distributed by the official Android Market (sometimes referred to as "sideloading"). However some carriers, like AT&T, prevent the installation of applications not on the Android Market in firmware,[2] although the Samsung Infuse 4G from AT&T allows running applications not downloaded from the market.[3]
As of 2012 the Amazon Kindle Fire is locked to the Amazon app store instead of the Android market, and other vendors of Android devices may lock to other sources in the future. Access to alternate apps may require rooting but rooting is not always necessary. As an example, for the Kindle fire it is possible to load the "easy installer" app from the Amazon app store and then use it to "sideload" apps from any source.
One of the potential downsides to rooting is some phone makers consider it to be "modifying" the phone, which may void the warranty. However, if the phone is un-rooted before the user tries to use his or her warranty, there is no easy way for the warranty provider to know that the phone was previously rooted. The term "bricking" is used to describe a device which has had its software modified improperly to the point where it is no longer functioning.[4]

Process
The process of rooting varies widely by device. It usually includes exploiting a security weakness in the firmware shipped from the factory. For example, shortly after the T-Mobile G1 was released it was quickly discovered that anything typed using the keyboard was being interpreted as a command in a privileged (root) shell. Although Google quickly released a patch to fix this, a signed image of the old firmware was leaked giving people the ability to downgrade and use the original exploit to gain root access. Once this exploit is found, a custom recovery image that does not check the digital signature of a firmware update package can be flashed. In turn, using the custom recovery, a modified firmware update can be installed that typically includes the utilities (for example the Superuser app) needed to run apps as root.
The Google-branded Android devices, the Nexus One, Nexus S and the Galaxy Nexus, can have their boot-loaders unlocked by simply running the command "fastboot oem unlock" from a computer connected to the device while it is in boot-loader mode.[5] After accepting a warning the boot-loader will be unlocked so that a new system image can be written directly to flash without the need for an exploit.
Recently, Motorola, LG Electronics and HTC Corporation have added security features to their devices at the hardware level in an attempt to prevent retail Android devices from being rooted. For instance, the Motorola Droid X has a security boot-loader that will put the phone in "recovery mode" if unsigned firmware is loaded onto the device.

Can you recommend an Android phone with a keyboard?

Q. I currently have a Motorola Dext (EU version of Motorola Cliq) which I dearly love. But it is starting to show it's age & Motorola refuse to upgrade these past Android 1.5. I know these can be cracked & updated but I couldn't make it work & it's really not worth paying someone to crack such an old phone.

What I Love: Android, large screen, slide out keyboard.
What I hate: Crap battery life, No updates & therefore poor app compatibility

What I would really like to replace it with is more up to date version of the same thing, i.e. another slide out keyboard design, but there are so few on the market. Can people recommend some phones for me to look at.

A. The Samsung Galaxy Smart has a slideout qwerty, as does the HTC Shift something or other... these are both really reliable and advanced smartphones.
The thing with updates is that no phone is going to CONTINUE getting updates, because at some point any phone will be outdated. For example, the Samsung Galaxy S3 is IT right now, so of course it's getting updates... but in a year, that phone will be really old, and might not be getting new Android updates anymore. So just choose a phone you're happy with, and don't worry too much about the updating feature.
One thing, though... I understand why a lot of people want physical qwerty keyboards, but I'd have to say I've converted from that, thanks to the text input method called Swype. Read about it here: http://howdoyouandroid.com/2012/11/how-do-you-use-swype-keyboard.html It's SO much easier than any of those lame virtual keyboards, and actually is pretty close to as fast as typing on a computer keyboard, even if you're up there around 120 wpm.
Last point, about batteries... tbh, smartphones have pretty lame battery life right now. But I've totally overcome that problem, by following this method: http://howdoyouandroid.com/2012/11/how-do-you-deal-with-battery-that.html
Feel free to comment there, if you have any more Android questions!

Quadcore 4G Qwerty Phones?
Q. I was wondering if anyone had any info about upcoming quadcore 4G smartphones, particular if they'll be on Verizon or if they'll have a physical qwerty keyboard.

I just got an iPhone 4S and I CANNOT WAIT to sell it and upgrade to a quadcore ANDROID phone.

I could've gotten a Rezound or Droid Razr, but they are too big for my small pants. thanks!

A. well were not quite at quadcore yet with android smartphones, (still at dualcore, but some tablets are quad core) but the first quadcore androids will probably be released in early 2012, Im keeping my eyes out for the galaxy s3, I currently have the s2 and its the best phone ive ever had.

as for a qwerty keyboard the Samsung stratosphere has a nice keyboard, as well as the DROID 3.

Any body have an idea of what my new phone would be?

Q. So I have a contract with AT&T and I got my phone XMAS 09. It slides with just number buttons. It is in horrible condition so I'll get a new one. I only get an upgrade though. On the AT&T site can anyone guess what I'll get to have as a replacement?

A. Motorola Atrix 4G Android Phone
Apple iPhone 4
Samsung Focus Windows Phone

For U.S. AT&T. If you're eligible for an upgrade, you can upgrade your phone (contract extension) on AmazonWireless, the most trusted store online, phone price for an upgrade start at penny. Also, you can purchase a new phone without contract as a replacement, too. If you don't require a data plan (most top AT&T phones above are smart phones and need a data plan), you'll can narrow down them by phone type (such as No Data Plan Requirements), or by phone feature (such as QWERTY Keys, Touch Screen, etc.). Select the phone you're interested in, read user reviews & ratings to help you find the best phone.

Best android-based smart phone in India for under Rs. 15000?
Q. I wanna buy a new smartphone and my budget is around Rs. 15,000. My priorities in terms of features are (most important first, least important last):

1> Excellent voice quality
2> Ease of use
3> Camera
4> Music quality
5> Internet connectivity (should be able to check GMail, and browse with ease)

Any suggestions?

why are all the android phones copies of the Iphone?

Q. Please don't get all harsh, I know that android was in production at the same time as OS for the iphone but can we think about it. Look at all the new phones... they all look like the Iphone, and the app pages look exactly the same. But they just can't get the touch screen to be any good... and it seems that google has been copying everything lately.. making a computer os that looks about the same as OSX, the Google TV, I mean for God sake they even called it the same thing.... when apple clearly had the apple TV, and when the Iphone OS came out, as did Android... just saying.. why isn't apple suing?

A. All android phones don't look like iphones. I have a Droid X. It has a 4.3" display that makes an iphone look like a wristwatch.

The HTC Evo and a lot of the others do. I will give you that. But, what are android phones supposed to be? Triangle shaped? A phone is basically a phone.

As for operating systems, the basic difference is Apple treats theirs as if you need a security clearance to customize, or write an app for it. That's not even to mention refusing to "allow" Adobe Flash, or Java on their browser, or refusing to allow iphone users to do simple things like download YouTube videos to their phone memory.

When it comes down to it, you don't "own" an iphone, you use it. You own an android phone and you can upgrade memory and battery, enter text on your touchscreen with Swype, download 3rd party music, and on and on.

Iphones are nice. Just not something I'd spend money on.

what is the best android phone and why?
Q. i was thinking of getting an android phone and i was wondering what phone and why i should get it

A. Motorola DROID X Android Phone (Verizon Wireless)
A worthy successor to the original Droid, the Android-powered Droid X by Motorola for Verizon Wireless is a pocket-sized home theater with a massive 4.3-inch high-resolution display, HDMI high-definition output with optional cable, and 720p HD video recording capabilities. And the 1 GHz processor provides excellent response for game play, such as the preloaded EA Need for Speed Shift.

Android user suggestions?

Q. I got my first android today (Samsung Infuse 4G with AT&T) and it's charging so I didn't really get to play around with it yet. I used it for a few minutes and I am very happy, considering I was using an Iphone 3g which I thought was HORRIBLE. Anyway I want to know how to adjust the brightness, know some good apps and what to expect when I plug it into my computer.

A. First... Welcome to Android!

Now.... Lets break your question down! LOL There is just toooooo much info to tell ya.. I'll be basic and let your learn the rest. We all were noobs at 1 point in life..

Anyway I want to know how to adjust the brightness
------------------ Settings app...... display... select your brightness to none, auto, or custom

know some good apps
------------------ Well, as of March 2011, there are about 275,000+ apps (60% are free)... Here is what I love...
*** LookOut Mobile Security - your #1 APP!!!! Scans all downlaods for viruses, malware, spyware, etc... Also, if you loose your phone, it will GPS track it on your mylookout account online! Also it has SIREN mode, turn the siren ON via the website and your phone will SCREAM until you turn it off on the website
*** Watchdog Task Manager - Makes sure apps dont go crazy and drain battery life. "Advanced Task Killer" is not meant for the Infuse!--- Please remember that!!!!!!!!!!!!!
*** next, PowerAmp - greatest MP3 player ever! You'll see why!
*** Handcent SMS - This apps will replace your stock texting app... customize ANYTHING about teh text... colors, themes, signatures, emoticons, fonts, display, tones, etc ANYTHING
*** Ringdroid - make your own ringtones from your current mp3 library
*** Free MP3 Download - never buy MP3s again!
*** Weatherbug - weather and radar at your fingertips
*** Dolphin Web HD - better internet browser than stock browser
*** Fusion Visual Voicemail - Free visual voicemail... drop that carrier paid stuff! SAVE MONEY!
*** Zedge - over 500,000 wallpapers, ringtones, notification tones.. ALL FREE!
There is just to much!!!!!!!! LOL LOL

what to expect when I plug it into my computer.
----------- Android has 4 USB settings... PC mode/suite (NEVER USE IT!), Windows Media SYNC, (NEVER USE IT), Mass storage mode, and Charge mode... When you first plug it in for the first time, you'll see a usb icon appear... go to notification bar on top... swing down... click the icon... you should be in Mass storage mode... if not, select it... Now, the phone will auto install drivers onto your pc... this will take about 5-15 minutes depending on your PC LOL... Take a break!..... Now, you should be cool... to sync your mp3s, you can do it 2 ways... I use Windows Media player... Let WMP sync to the phone.... the phone should appear in the upper right corner of WMP, go to sync tab.... now hit sync... depending on you library size, this can take a long time... Mine took 45 minutes (about 600 songs) LOL.... OR, if you tech savy, find your mp3s on yoru PC/laptop... copy all... go to My computer... your'll see your phone listed as a extra jump drive (mass storage mode)... open it... go to music folder... if its not there, make a folder called "Music". and paste all there!!!!!!!!! Do the same with your pictures... but paste in Picture folder... same with videos... but in Video folder... or let WMP do it all............. after that, disconnect from PC/laptop... powercycle phone for good measure.... open PowerAMP or stock music mp3 player... and enjoy! Open Gallery to see your pics... Open video player to wathc your vids.... Walla....!! Enjoy

What Mobile Phone would you reccomend for me?
Q. I want it with WIFI, qwerty keyboard and touch, possibly not too expensive

A. One word ANDROID. Anyone who says don't go android is insane. Also seeing on how you want a cheep phone. Androids are less expensive, the most phones and the come in a verity of QWERTY and touch screen. Not only that some even have overlays which allow ultimate social networking. Like Motoblur, HTC sense, or Timescape of Sony.

Not only that it has tons of apps approx 8000 being added every month and 80% of the apps are free of charge rather then Apple where only 40% are free.

These phones also have better possessors and come in more of a Verity of phones, where blackberry and iphone are, well they are just blackberry and iphone they don't change that often.

ok so ill give u a cheep phone on every carrier, cuz you never said which one you are on
AT&T- Moto BACKFLIP----- Verizon- Moto Devour ------Sprint- Samsung Intercept-------- T Mobile- Moto Cliq. My favorites would be Moto Droid and droid 2 on verizon the are more price but o so worth it :) anyways hope i helped Oh and all the moto phones i said have MOTOBLUR. the droids dont tho sadly :(

Question on purchasing a Verizon Samsung i910 Omnia Touch Smart Cell Phone?

Q. I was wondering if this phone was decent? Worst phone you've ever had? I'm wanting to buy it and would like to hear opinions from some who own/have owned it.

A. It's a nice phone and one of the best touchscreen phones of 2008-2009. But it's a bit sluggish and you will not feel like using it if you've already used an Android phone or any touchscreen phone of 2010-2011.

the WiFi my phone receives is through a router in my house

A. you need to set up ur phone as a wifi hotspot, take a look at this link, it talks about it briefly under the section 6th day of Xmas.

As a sprint customer...i am looking to buy my wife a phone for xmas?
Q. What phone is or gonna be the best sprint phone out by xmas time....

A. We've reviewed a lot of midrange Android devices here at PCMag, and most of them fall short of the mark. The $49.99 LG Optimus S has changed that. It's the first reasonably priced Android device we can wholeheartedly recommend. Even if it doesn't have high-end specs, it's ideal for anyone who wants to avoid the extra monthly charges Sprint adds to the otherwise excellent, HTC Evo 4G ($199.99, 4 stars). It's one of The Best Android Phones as well as one of The 10 Best Touch-Screen Phones.

A. 4 inch S4 mini Android 4.1 Smart Phone DMDK4x12 1GHz HVGA Screen Dual SIM Quad Band WiFi and it's only $85 bucks! I use it personally as I travel a lot as well :)

Can an "unlocked" android phone connect to WiFi?
Q. If I buy a new unlocked android cell phone, can I connect Wi-Fi?
And would I be able to use an app like ''Text-Plus'' to text and make phone calls, when I'm in Wi-Fi range?

The situation is, I don't use my phone outside of my house very much. So if i just had a basic android phone that had a calling app (text-plus, Google voice, etc.) I think it would work perfect for me, and i wont have to pay a monthly phone bill.

Note: I do not plan on getting a SIM card... if i don't have to.

Thank you for any help!
Don't comment with something that's NOT an answer! if you have no information that will help me, I don't need it. Simple as that!
will it work even if i get something with android v2.2?
Thank you so much!

A. Im using a unlocked android phone right now so the answer is yes.

I've also been using my phone for wifi and using a free calling app, instead of paying $100.00 a month phone bill. The app I use to make calls is magic jack. I go to the play store (app store) and type in "free calls" in the search bar, and magic jack is towards the top of the list.

To turn on your wifi, go to your phone menu, click on setting, then click on wireless & networks. After clicking on wireless & networks, go to wifi settings and click on your account name and type in your password, then click connect. Also make sure you have a "check" in the Network Notification box under Wireless & Networks along with a check in the WiFi box.

Android phone below 15000 ?

Q. i was wondering is there any point in buying android phone below 15k indian rupee, coz major advantage of os is:
1.adobe flash 10.x support
2.lot of hd games
3.480*800 resolution over 360*640 of symbian
5.good performance with 1ghz and above cpu and 512 and above ram
So none of the phones below 15000 has these features so is there any pointing in buying an android over symbian below 15000.dont say some crap apps most important app are avilable for symbian some advantage of symbian device below 11-15k
1.hd games support,hd video ,divx support
2.amoled or ips led display future major updates like carla os
3.html5 browser with future update.
4.excellent battery and better resolution 640*360 against 480*320 of android below 15k.
So isnt symbian say symbian belle or carla os device better below 15000.

A. If you're gonna buy an Android phone, you'd have to pay way more than that to meet your requirements.

1. Adobe Flash 11 is only supported on the more mid-range to high-end Android devices while the low end (in your price range). The majority of phones in that range cannot support Adobe Flash due to hardware incompatibility.

2. Again, this requires a good phone as the low end Android devices aren't powerful enough to handle HD games which needs a decent phone to run on. Also, HD games requires a minimum of 480x800 resolution on the screen.

3. The majority of Android devices in the low end uses HVGA resolution (640x240) which is lower than the resolution used on Symbian devices. Only mid-range to high end Android provides WVGA and higher (largest at HD which is 1280x720).

4. Again, 1 GHz processors are only covered from mid-range onwards. The majority of low-end devices runs between 600-800 MHz. However, a lot do luckily have 512 MB of RAM.

So yeah, definitely not worth buying an Android phone below that price. But there are some advantages of an Android devices over Symbian like a more better UI that is easier to use and one that is more responsive. The experience is slightly better. For instance, the browser on Symbian is crap (even the new one is). The Android browser feels a lot better.

1. That is definitely true. Most HD games on Symbian is supported at that range but that's mainly because the graphics aren't as high. But the multimedia part is definitely true. Most Android handsets at that price range are only capable of 480p videos. But there are some phones with DivX support too.

2. Can't complain there. AMOLED and IPS LCD displays are fantastic. But, AMOLED is only used on their more higher end devices. The lower end uses IPS only. I wouldn't call Carla a major OS update. It just mainly adds MS Office and such. But considering how Nokia is slowly moving away from Symbian moving on to Windows Phone, I wouldn't really say Symbian updates are that interesting.

3. Um, Android's browser already have HTML 5. As I said earlier, the Symbian browser experience is actually quite horrible. Even the Anna one isn't that good. And even though it does have HTML 5, it's not a very capable one. Android's HTML 5 browser actually works better.

4. Symbian is more light-weighted. Android has a sh*t loads of background services running. That's the reason why the battery life sucks.

Under 15000. It's probably true that the Symbian devices are better since they do offer some better stuff. But, I can also say you're wrong. The only Symbian devices I see below 15000 are the crappy Symbian phones running on Symbian S60v5 which won't get the Carla update, can't play HD games, no HD or DivX video support, nor AMOLED or IPS LCD or even a good browser. It's actually worse than an low-end Android phone if you don't count the resolution in. However, I have found an Android phone that is 15000. Which does offer most of your needs though. The Huawei Vision.
Has Adobe Flash 11
Can play HD games
Has 480x800 resolution
Has a 1 GHz processor with 512 MB of rAM

So, yeah. Debatable.

which is the best android phone in india range Rs10000-15000?
Q. plz compare with other mobiles, I want the best phone.

A. Get Samsung Ace or Try Defy..

Dont go for Lower end devices like Samsung Galaxy Pop like that..

An Galaxy Ace or Defy will be an VFM...

Should I buy an Android or iOS Phone?

Q. I am in the market for a new smartphone, and I am unsure if I should buy an iOS or Android device. Don't get me wrong, I know enough about technology and all, but I have been a common user of iOS currently, and have little to no idea of the long-term benefits of Android. If an iPhone should I wait for the 5, because of the unveiling of iOS 5? If an Android is it really worth it to buy a 4G phone? If an Android is Motoblur, HTC Sense, or Touchwiz the overall best skin for Android?

Which boost mobile android phone should I buy?
Q. So, this Friday i'm getting paid, and i'm planning on buying my first phone. A couple people told me not to go with contracts because it's just my first job, so i'm going with boost for a while. Which phone should I buy? Talking about pros and cons and everything else... Thanks! :)

A. Well the thing is what do you want with your phone?

The first thing is: Do you want to be connected like using whats app, getting news and just browse through the internet or do you want some power in your mobile phone and pay a high amount of money for extras like a good camera or some other extra things...

I give you some suggestions which should help you a bit. I tell you something from my experience. Maybe some other users tell you something different but this is just the way it works in yahoo answeres.

First of all I can advice the galaxy series from samsung, If you wish an android you can find for different needs the right phone. There are more than 20 different variants of phones or tablets so maybe one phone matches with your plan to buy a new android phone.

The best of them is in my opinion the Samsung Galaxy S2.

You have everything what you need
Pro:
- Camera with flashlight
- flash player
- fast internet (also with boost)
- micro sd card slot to expand your memory to 32 GB
- dual core processor 1,2 GHz (for fast loading of apps and internet sites)
- a long duration of your batteries (up to 2-3 days with using it a bit... after long use you have just one day but you have this problem with every modern smartphone)
- big and clear display (4,5")

Con:
- high price
- big mobile phone
- most of it is plastic

I am using a Samsung Galaxy S i9000 (the generation before the S2) and I am full satisfied with it. Payed less money and can do everything what I want with a good speed.

An another good mobile phone is HTC Sensation XE

It is a good music player and has a 1,5 GHz dual core which can open fast apps and internet sites
The display has also a good size (4,3") and you have also per charge a good duration for 1-2 days.
The camera takes like the galaxy s2 nice pictures with 8 MP.

There are also some mobile phones which cost less money and are good for browsing... but have of course less quality

My girlfriend has a samsung galaxy y and is a small mobile phone which has less power but costs only a piece of the big ones.

Pro:
- Long Batterie duration after charge
- Cheap Mobile Phone
- Good browsing
- Not so much pre installed apps in it

Con:
- less power
- bad camera but in good light you can take some nice pictures (3,2 MP)
- No slot for Micro SD Card

I hope I could give you some advices for your future buy.

Maybe you watch some videos or rating sites who test the mobile phones or go try yourself an android mobile phone in an electronic store. In some stores they put out some devices for testing purpose. It depends only what you really want with your phone. A cheap one can be sometimes better than an expensive one :)

I want to buy android phone. my budget 10000 so i want know that which phone is best.it has best music quality?

Q.

A. For that budget the best option for u among the androids is the xperia e.there r devices from micromax and karbonn too but i am not sure if they're reliable enough.
Xperia e has -
a 3.5" hvga display, android 4.1 jb,3.2 mp cam,1 ghz single core cpu,4 gb internal memory expandable upto 32 gb, 512 mb ram and a great loudspeaker as well.
If u r interested in windows phone then there is the great value for money lumia 520.
It has a 4" wvga display,5 mp autofocus cam,720p hd recording,1 ghz dual core snapdragon s4 krait cpu,512 mb ram,8 ab internal memory expandable upto 64 gb and a complete suite of nokia specific apps.
If u don't like wp then xperia e maybe better for u but lumia 520 does pack better specs and features in almost the same price.

A. i'd say go with lenovo p770. u may not have heard of this phone but this is a great phone to have and truly value for money.. check the specs and see the reviews.
otherwise you always have options in samsung and htc..

should I wait for a better Verizon 4G LTE Android phone?

Q. I want the best 4G LTE Android phone on Verizon. So far the HTC Thunderbolt is a the top of my list. The Samsung Charge has that bluish tint and bloat that annoys me about samsung phones. LG model doesn't look impressive. Is the Droid bionic ever coming out? What about the Droid X2?

A. " want the best 4G LTE Android phone on Verizon"

you mean the one that;s the best now? How can somebody tell you that a better one won;t come out in a few months?

If you want to know what people think about existing phones, your best bet is to go to Verizon's site and read user reviews there. Verizon apparently doesn't prevent people from venting about their phone.

verizon iphone vs droid?
Q. hey! so my my mom gets a new phone tomorrow. she currently has the second droid that ever came out.
she's been having a TON of problems with her droid in the past two years! example: email not working, phone breaking, touch screen not working.
i have an iphone and LOVE it.

so my question is:
should she get the verizon iphone or another verizon droid??

and also:
she doesn't use her gmail at ALL, she only had to make it so she could get the droid.

A. get a new android phone, like the galaxy s2, the one(2011) are far better than the ipone, and with a app called "double twist" you can sync all your itunes music to your android

I prefer android over apple for the reason that its open-source, that means that the majority of the apps are free, and you get more revolutionary and cutting edge apps. And do things are even only barely available on a jail broken iphone
The android market already has 250000 apps- closing in on apple 500000; some say it will surpass it before the year is over. Also any popular iphone game or game adaptation can be found in the android market for free.
Another great thing about android as that if you dont like something (keyboard, homescreen, etc.) it can easily be swapped without jail-breaking, unlike the iphones one-size-fits-all approach.

Other features only on android
Turn-by-turn voice GPS
Better and larger screen
No need to connect to computer to sync
Here is a big one, add a sd card
Live wallpaper
Better calls
4g
More customizable
More powerful hardware
Flash support, watch ALL the online videos

Apple lovers that say that the iphone is made of better quality material? They dont realize that Samsung, an android phone maker, supplys the screen, processor and memory for apple devices, so android has the advantage here.
The iphone is pretty, but not durable, drop it once- it breaks, all that glass around it? That was honestly a mistake. Android manufactures clearly saw that, and decided to do with something a little more durable.

And the iphones retina display is a huge scam. By definition a retina display is one where the human eye cannot distinguish individual pixels. But this is determined by several factors; most important being the distance between the screen and your eyes. The iphones retina distance is 12in, move any closer than that- say 7in and its no longer a retina screen because your eyes can now see the pixels, by that same token, if I move my android phone back, to say 16-17in, amazingly, it becomes a retina screen as well! (feel free to google this)

Also apple never invents anything, all they do is steal old technology, give it a fresh coat of paint and mass advertise it as magical and innovating, thus fooling the mass of the population into believing that apple offers cutting edge technology, that in fact has been around for quite a few years.
So instead of innovating, apple actually hinders technology- after 4 years they still have low-power single core phones, while android, an example of technology in overdrive, has rumored that, after their second year, the release of quad core phones that will surpass even some desktop computers in shear processing power.

Apple should now feel pretty worried; android has passed it in market share
http://www.businessinsider.com/android-iphone-market-share-2011-4

Then apple panics and sues
http://www.dailytech.com/Google+ExCEO+Apple+Doesnt+Innovate+They+Sue/article22190.htm
The funny thing is that apple cant sue for being the first touchscreen or tablet, because they werent,(Nokia fist touch screen, archos first tablet) so instead they sue for much more relevant things like, the rounded icon corners and having a flat screen or the square shape of the phone..

To top it all, if youve seen apples 2011 presentation, they blatantly copied over five "new" features that were previously on android.
http://androidandme.com/2011/06/news/five-features-in-ios-5-that-show-how-apple-is-now-playing-catch-up-to-google/

http://www.droid-life.com/2011/06/06/apple-introduces-ios5-with-notifications-ota-updates-and-tabbed-browsing-android-users-giggle-at-their-late-arrival/
1. Notification bar
2. Twitter integration
3. No need to connect to PC to sync
4. Launch apps from lock screen
5. Tabbed browsing

And not only are they copies, but apple didnt even bother to improve, or change some of them in any way- some even have LESS features than their android counter parts, its basically a cheap imitation with the ever-popular iphone skin.
According to Steve jobs, these "revolutionary" new technologies that android users had since 2007 will be available on IOS5, and it would not surprise me to see some more android features from 2008 on IOS6.But the truly sad part is that due to apples marketing, in a few months, apple lovers will really think that apple invented those features and call android the copycatsyet again.

Though I suppose Google shouldve seen it coming.

Good artists copy great artist steal- Steve jobs (apple CEO)

Windows Phone 7 Mango vs Android Gingerbread vs iOS 5?

Q. Compare each new version OS, and I would love personal experiences with all 3 Operating System's, and opinions on each one. Provide your favorite and why also, if possible. Thanks.

A. -Android -I personally don't like this because of the fragmentation. If you buy one form Motorola it may be entirely different from a Samsung Android. I don't know too much about Gingerbread, but I can tell you Android will be gone in the next 10 years. Its becoming like Windows Mobile 6. Which used to be a smartphone but is know obsolete.
-iOS 5- iOS in general is getting quite old, and is a grid launcher for apps. Of course it is very wide spread and you are more likely to see someone using this than a Windows Phone. iOS 5 is not really new amazing features, they are features that Apple is catching up with. A better Notifications system with cues from Android. The camera app has many cues from Windows Phone 7 too. For example swiping to the right to see the last picture you took. A hardware (sort of) camera button to take pictures, and a faster way to get to the camera (although this is different from WP7's, iOS will use a software button instead of a hardware button like WP7 uses). They are just trying to catch up with competition.
-WP7 Mango-This is probably the OS that I know the most about, while yes they are catching up witch competition like Apple with Multitasking and such, they are also bringing a plethora of new features. Local Scout which will show you nearby places and sightseeing attractions, Threads which let you switch between Facebook chat, Windows Live Messenger and Texting without the need of a third party app. Groups which let you see all your "Family" or "Friends" contacts in one place. Music Search which is like Shazam without an app (built in), Visual Search (which is like Google Goggles, except with Bing).

Personally I love Windows Phone 7, because it isn't just a grid of icons and icons, they use Tiles instead which update with the latest news. For example you may pin a Weather app to the Start Screen and it will show you the latest weather. You can pin a Sports app and it could show you the latest scores, you can Pin a contact and it will show you Social Network updates. The possibilities are endless. The UI design is so different from the compettiton, and it's just soemthing new to look at. Instead of going in and out of apps to look for info, all the Info is right there on the start screen.
If you would like to learn more about Mango, here is a great video:
