How do i please my DAD to get me a new PHONE?

Q. Okay so my dad is going to delhi, india for 10-15 days i want him to get me a mobile from there which costs around 8k. The thing is that my father gets very angry at these things since he thinks kids shouldnt buy so many cellphones etc etc. When i was 14, i saved money and when i told him that iam going to pay for it, he argreed. The phone costs 7k so i gave 5k and my dad 2k. Then last year when i was 15 again i saved money and bought my first touch phone which costed 6k. This time also i gave 4k and my dad 2k. He agreed to buy me this phone after alot of pleading. But now i want a new android phone, all of my friends have new phones xcept me. Why i want my dad to get this new phone from india bcoz there it costs 8k and in my country it costs around 20k which is quite xpensive. I wanted to give him money bt i cudnt save any money bcoz of various reasons. But i will promise him that as soon as he gets bck frm india with the phne ofcourse, i will return him the money. If not the xact amount atleast 4k or 5k. I cannot sleep at nyt thinking that wat if my dad refuses to buy this phone as i havent talked abt this with him yet. Please help and i cannot do a job!

A. Perhaps it would be nicer if you were to suggest to your father, that you would really love a new phone, but would be so much happier if he was to give the money to the starving children of India instead. Think of it this way.. every time you use your old phone, you can think to yourself that you saved someone's life, instead of walking around with some new phone.
A phone or a life saved.. which will you choose?

Q. is there any mobile at this range that i could buy and have a good gaming experiences........!!

A. These games cannot be useful in playing games like A7 or NFS MW. These phones miss their GPU (Graphic Processing Unit). At the same time you can go for 2nd hand phones. And try to find Sony Erricson Neo or Neo or Play (these are good mobiles with GPU & an be available around 6k to 7k INR in 2nd hand)

Best tablet under $200?
Q. On my list I've had the Nexus 7, Galaxy Tab 2, Visual Land Prestige 10 and Coby MID8065. But every time I decide on one I end up finding reviews on other sites that put me off, or find out it's missing something crucial for my needs.

What I want:
Android 4.0 or higher
1.2 GHz
At least a 5000 mAH for battery
7-10" screen, though closer to 10" is preferred
1 GB RAM
At least 8 GB storage/capacity
Camera (pic & video), speakers, usual ports (HDMI, micro SD, USB, etc)
Bluetooth enabled is a must!
Google Play is a must!
Adobe compatible
Capacitive screen
Wi-fi capable

I'll be using it mostly for long periods of note taking so it needs to have great battery life.

My only way of connecting my husband's tablet (Asus EEE Slider - a bit out of my price range) to get online is through bluetooth. We usually tether the phone to the laptop since the only internet we have is on the phone (read: no wi-fi), so if he ever needs to get online on his tablet for basic browsing is by enabling bluetooth on my phone and sharing the connection. Bit of a pain, but it's cheaper that way.

Google Play capability is needed because I like their apps better. Also, if I so happen to be in an area with wi-fi, Hulu Plus has to be compatible - they took their list down from the site so I don't know which individual tablets are supported anymore.

A larger screen size is preferred for typing, though I like the compact size of the 7".

Please, nothing higher than $200, NO apple products and it has to meet all of the above. TIA!! =)
ETA: Visual Land is definitely off the list since it doesn't support Google.
@Devon, I'm an adult. I have bills to pay and I like to live within my means. So if I'm looking for a $200 and under tablet that means I'm looking for a $200 and under tablet.

A. Hi. I would recommend Galaxy Tab 2 7" from these options.

- Android 4.0 or higher: Yes Upgradable to 4.1 too
1.2 GHz: Dual Core 1Gh Processor

- At least a 5000 mAH for battery
4000mAH but enough for around 11 hours of battery backup

- 7-10" screen, though closer to 10" is preferred
7" would be better option since the budget you mentioned is best for 7" screen only

-At least 8 GB storage/capacity: Yes plus microSD slot

-Camera (pic & video), speakers, usual ports (HDMI, micro SD, USB, etc): Yes all those ports and Camera is there. Rear Facing 3.15MP and front facing VGA camera

-Bluetooth enabled is a must!: Yes
-Google Play is a must: Yes
-Adobe compatible: Yes
-Capacitive screen: Yes
-Wi-fi capable: Yes
-1 GB RAM: Yes

Galaxy Tab 2 7" - Review from an actual user:
http://www.amazon.com/review/R3P0PPZ6OKV1EW/?_encoding=UTF8&ASIN=B007P4VOWC&camp=1789&creative=390957&linkCode=ur2&nodeID=&tag=aajems-20

Nexus has front facing camera only
While the tablet you have mentioned is pretty unknown and I dont actually recommend something that you cant rely on.

Why do I secretly judge people that have Androids?

Q. The user interface of Androids is just so poorly organized and needlessly clumsy. I just feel like people that would voluntarily get an Android over an iPhone (given that they can afford both) are just kinda dumb.

Why do I do this? Is it bad? I can't be the only person that acknowledges the Android operating system straight up sucks, right?
I have an iPhone. Love iOS.

A. Unfortunately independent reviewers do NOT mark Apples iPhones highly
Also this must be a reason also that iPhones fail to win awards

The SGS 2 the multi multi award winning phone of 2011 which has a 1.2Ghz Dual Core processor, the IP5 18 months AFTER the SGS II has the same speed

The SGS II has won 4 top award in 2011-12
The Quad Core SGS III COPIED COPIED the multi multi award winning phone of 2011-12 [SGS II] the SGS III won THE SAME 4 top award in 2012-13 most recently on 26/02/2013 Global Mobile Awards in Barcelona

Considering the IP5 only has 3 NEW features on it not on the IP4S and the A6 chip optimised to work best in the IP5

Iphone
1) http://www.gsmarena.com/apple_iphone_5-review-822.php
2) Note the source http://finance.yahoo.com/news/8-things-the-iphone-5-still-can-t-do.html
the best ever iPhone since the Iphone the ad states

Both the SGS II and SGS III HAVE 8 more features NOT on the IP5, 9 if you include BLUETOOTH, Despite this the IP6 will still NOT have most if not all the 8 .

Windows 8 phone are coming in at 1.5 Ghz Dual Core processor as standard, they also appear to have 8 more features NOT on the IP5, 9 if you include BLUETOOTH

BlackBerry Z10 also 1.5 Ghz Dual Core processor as standard, it also appears to have 8 more features NOT on the IP5 9 if you include BLUETOOTH

The price paid or tariffs commanded (no demanded) by iPhones...on any every network defy logic and gravity!

"I have an iPhone. Love iOS."

You may love IOS but instead of meandering in the ORCHARD do do a little research (I know)

Apple prior to the APPLE -V- SAMSUNG case lost big time to NOKIA
IOS breaches many of Nokias patents so much so that Apple conceded defeat to NOKIA ..... and APPLE PAYS NOKIA ROYALTIES for each device that use IOS (every device sold! since iPhone)

IOS is NOKIA, all, all APPLE have to do to avoid paying Nokia royalties is to make an OS that Nokia did not design
Love iOS. Sorry Love Nokia

Nokia were making smartphones when SMART & PHONE were TWO separate words and.... "Smart" actually applied for a TRO against "Phone"

So NOT bad just like the maps misguided !
You do know know what today, 14/03/2013 S IV, intravenous SAMSUNG?

I don't have an iPhone but love what competition brings

What's the best phone on verizon that doesn't need a data plan?
Q. State the phone and the pros/ cons

A. The good: The HTC ThunderBolt offers incredibly fast 4G data speeds. The Android 2.2 smartphone also supports simultaneous voice and data over 3G and boasts a large 4.3-inch touch screen, ample storage, and an excellent camera.

The bad: Battery life takes a big hit when using 4G. There is no way to toggle between 3G and 4G.

The bottom line: The HTC ThunderBolt lights up with blazingly fast data speeds, but those who want 4G now should be aware that it takes a big toll on the smartphone's battery life.

Photo gallery: HTC ThunderBolt (Verizon Wireless)
Photo gallery:
HTC ThunderBolt (Verizon Wireless)

Introduced at CES 2011, the HTC ThunderBolt is Verizon's first 4G LTE, and it's finally available for $249.99 with a two-year contract. The Android 2.2 smartphone might not offer the latest and greatest (e.g., dual-core processor), but with the carrier promising average download speeds of 5Mbps to 12Mbps and upload speeds of 2Mbps to 5Mbps, it's no surprise why many are clamoring to get their hands on this device. This includes us, which is why we were so excited to take the HTC ThunderBolt out for a test-drive. The lightning-fast smartphone delivers on many fronts, but it also comes at a cost.

Design
The HTC ThunderBolt is cut from the same cloth as the HTC Evo 4G and the HTC Desire HD, so if you've ever handled those devices, then you have a fairly good idea of what to expect from the ThunderBolt.

At 4.75 inches tall by 2.44 inches wide by 0.56 inch thick and 6.23 ounces, the ThunderBolt isn't for those who prefer dainty devices. The smartphone is large and actually slightly thicker and heavier than the Evo, but it's manageable and the tapered back and soft-touch finish make it comfortable to hold in the hand. As we've come to expect from HTC, the phone is solidly built and has a nice, premium feel to it.

On front, you've got the same 4.3-inch WVGA (800x480 pixels) touch screen as the Evo. There are higher-resolution displays out there, like those on the Motorola Atrix 4G or iPhone 4, but the ThunderBolt's screen still holds up, with clear and bright picture quality. Text was easy to read, and Web pages and video looked lovely on the large screen.

The touch screen is also responsive. Apps launched as we tapped them, and we were able to smoothly navigate through the home screens and menus. The display also features a proximity sensor and built-in accelerometer, which was quick to change screen orientation when we rotated the phone.

The front-facing camera sits right above the screen on the right; below the display are the home, menu, back, and search navigation buttons. Meanwhile, the 8-megapixel camera and flash are located on back, but we really wish there was a dedicated camera button on the phone. Instead, you'll have to use the touch screen to snap photos.

On the bright side, the ThunderBolt has a sturdy kickstand so you can prop the phone on a desk to watch videos, conduct speakerphone calls, and the like. There's a Micro-USB port on the left side, and a volume rocker occupies the right side. Finally, on top of the device, you'll find a power/lock button and 3.5mm headphone jack.

The HTC ThunderBolt comes packaged with an AC adapter, a USB cable, a preinstalled 32GB microSD card, and reference material.

4G features and performance
Before we get to the phone's more-basic features, we thought we'd address the HTC ThunderBolt's whole raison d'etre, and that's 4G support. As mentioned earlier, the ThunderBolt is the first smartphone to work on Verizon's LTE 4G network, which promises average download speeds of 5Mbps to 12Mbps and upload speeds of 2Mbps to 5Mbps.

Given the impressive results we got using Verizon's LG VL600 LTE USB modem, you'd think we'd be a little more prepared for what we experienced on the ThunderBolt, but we were still blown away by what we saw. It's fast. Real fast.

Running Ookla's Speedtest.net app on the handset yielded some erratic and suspicious results (upload speeds were registering up to 39.79Mbps), so we also measured speeds using the phone as a mobile hot spot and as a tethered modem. With the ThunderBolt connected to our MacBook Pro as a mobile hot spot here in New York, we were able to get average download speeds of 7.41Mbps and upload speeds of 6.56Mbps.

By comparison, the HTC Evo 4G from Sprint averaged 3.42Mbps down and 0.93Mpbs up; the Samsung Galaxy S 4G on T-Mobile averaged 4.17Mbps down and 1.68Mbps up; and the HTC Inspire 4G on AT&T averaged 1.75Mbps down and 0.31Mbps up.

We got even better results when we had the ThunderBolt tethered to our Lenovo T61 ThinkPad. We averaged download speeds of 15.58Mbps and upload speeds of 3.44Mbps.

is it safe to purchase things online using an android smart phones?

Q. I just bought my Sony Xperia arc and I have been browsing on my phone on the 'adroid app market' and I want to buy games, music etc but I need to use my credit card but Im just wondering if its safe to make purchases online on my phone.

You hear all these stories about peoples phones getting hacked into so was just wondering what steps I should take to make make sure my purchases are sae and secure.

A. Nothing is 100% secure but the android market isn't just some small website asking for money it is google's app market. As long as you haven't downloaded any fishy applications or rooted your device it should be secure.

What android smartphone is best right now and which ones would you suggest if I were to get one?

A. Sony Ericsson Arc, Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro (Small and great), HTC Desire, Google NEXUS

How can I lose 40 pounds or more before Summer 2013?

Q. I am 16 years old. My favorite thing to do during the summer time is to tan and swim. But since 2010 I have gained a lot of weight. I am currently 164. It's embarassing to go out in public and swim with my skinny friends. I just wanna go out during the summer time without having to worry about my weight. I understand I have to excericise and eat healthy, but I can't afford to go to the gym. I wanna lose atleast 40 pounds by June 2013 and tone up so I can just have a good time with friends and not feel blah. Can someone please tell what kind of excercises I can do at home and what kind of meals to eat? Please.

A. First of all, you have to change your diet.
Eat lean protein + starchy carbs + fibrous carbs.
http://burn-fat-how-to.com/articles/bodybuilding-food-lists

Start exercising every day. If you have an android phone, look for workout trainer. There I found a great exercise "Fat burner deluxe".

If not, just google for "fat burning exercise at home", and find something suitable.
You have to burn less calories than you eat.
Eat more smaller meals, and the most important thing is that you don't lie to yourself. Count everything you eat. Snacks, chocolate, sweets etc. You shouldn't eat these anyway.

And don't blame it on your metabolism.

How to watch football live from android?

Q. Does anyone know how to watch college football live from android phone? Please help me!

What Verizon phone should I get to work in Poland?
Q. I'm going to Poland for 2 weeks. Would love to have my smart phone fully functional. However, my first-gen Motorola Droid will be a brick as it is CDMA-only.

I know there are some "global" Verizon Android phones, but I haven't tried any of them. Anybody have experience with one of the newer, GSM-enabled Droids in Europe? Will the HTC Thunderbolt work in Poland?

Thanks!

A. Ben, do not take any Verizon phones with you to EU. If you need a phone get one of the unlocked 4 band phones from Ebay ($25 or more) and than activate in Poland with one of the providers there. Use prepaid service. Cost from $5, this includes free incoming calls and may be 30 min outgoing plus SIM card and activation..

Which phone is better the T-Mobile wing or the G1?

Q. im having trouble deciding in between these two phones can anyone help me plz

A. As per my opinion i would suggest u to go for T-Mobile G1 as its very demanding now a days in market than T-Mobile wing. I have T-Mobile G1and i didn't find any problem till as i have taken it before 4 months from UK.

T-Mobile G1 has good features as under

+ The T-Mobile G1 features a full QWERTY keyboard, 3G support, Wi-Fi, GPS, and Bluetooth. The Google Android operating system offers good integration with Google applications as well as access to the Amazon MP3 Store and YouTube.

+ Android looks to be the real deal, Almost everything is customizable, Keypad is one of the best out there, Large, responsive touchscreen, Open platform + Android Market = infinite possibilities, Device is large, but ergonomics are good, Great battery life

+ Solid "telephone" and interesting operating system.

+ Nice size screen, responsive touch control, good camera, feels good in your hands and the "chin" doesn't get in the way of speedy typing, overall easy to use and very customizable.

how are ext. numbers created for Numbers Such As business phones is it like a port . port fowarding are these.?
Q. extensions able to be created for a house phone just for giggles "for fun"!!?? what are the supplies i need to create such weird procedure? what are the steps to creating a ext number ..exp..4449
If this is in the wrong category can you tell me which one to put it in please

A. Extensions are typically in PBX systems, or IAX systems. In the case of the home, extension 100 may ring the garage, while 101 is for the kitchen, 102 is for the living room, and so on. This can be done relatively cheap (as compared to thousands per extension on old PBXes). However, this will involve some technical workings with a computer (preferably a dedicated computer).

You would want to install an IAX system (PBX in a Flash) comes to mind. This will be free, but will wipe a computer's hard drive, so you would want a dedicated PC for this. Once you done this, you would want to get a SIP service. Most SIP services will work, and you would want to make sure at least one supports

E911. Google Voice is also supported which will give you free calls in US/CA.

You would set up all SIP services you would be using. You would set up dialing rules (such as using one SIP carrier for UK calls). The phone numbers you would port should port to one of your SIP providers. The calls will go to the IAX server. You would set up a Ring Group so that any calls to that SIP service will ring all of the appropriate phones.

In example, if you went to Broadvoice and ported your phone number to them from you telephone company, you would then set up the credentials that Broadvoice gives you into the IAX system. You may then set it up to ring Group 1 which will ring all of the phones on the first floor. You could also set it up to ring a particular extension.

You would also need SIP phones, or ATAs. Android, and iOS has SIP clients that you could use to make calls with the IAX. Each SIP client should have its own extension. For some phones like the Siemens Gigaset, there is an RJ45 connection at the access point, and can support multiple SIP accounts, therefore you can set up multiple phones to talk to the same access point. An ATA is an analog telephone adapter which has a RJ11 (phone jack) and will connect to the home network.

For the old fashion POTS or if you have a proprietary VOIP (like Vonage), you would need to install an FXO/FXS card in the PC.The FXS will connect with the carrier, while the FXO connects to the home phones. If you go all SIP/ATA option, you would not need an FXO.

If you want to greet your callers with the option to press 1 for this person, or 2 for that person, then you would need to have the IAX server to use an IVR (Interactive Voice Reception) which some SIP services may have a hard time dealing with.

Now, if you are scared of doing all of this, but want to take the services in, you could use a hosted services such as PBXes.org, or Toktumi. PBXes is more technical, and less features than a full fledge IAX, but you would get basic extension support, and SIP control. Toktumi supports IVR, but will forward callers to either voice mail, or a phone number.

Should i upgrade to the iphone 4s or android?

Q. Ive owned every iPhone, and have always loved apple products, but android phones have recently seen large improvements. The operating systems are awesome, large screen, excellent camera quality. I sold my iPhone 4 and bought a Samsung galaxy s 2 until the iPhone 4s is released which one is better. Is ios5 better than androids latest software. Im so confused :(

A. get the Samsung android galaxy s2

-worlds thinnest phone (certain models are a bit thicker)
-most powerful dual core processor (1.2ghz)
-wifi tethering- turn your phone into a portable hotspot.
-best battery life (several days with light usage)
-super AMOLED plus screen, best screen out their
-8mp camera with 1080 recording capabilities
-built in FM radio
-gorilla glass, same glass used in military helicopters.
-voice talk- apple basically copied this and called it “siri”

good android apps

What is currently the best phone to buy for Sprint?
Q. okay, so my carrier is Sprint. I plan to get a new phone this December. so, what is (in your opinion) the best phone on the market for Sprint and why? I want a phone that I can put music on as well. I'm aware of the HTC Evo, but is the Epic better? or is the Evo 3D worth buying over the original Evo? please help. I want your opinions.

A. the evo 3D hands down, not only is the 3D cool as hell but the phone just works great its running threw newest android and the newest HTC sense. the new htc sense has an app that comes on the phone that will let you lock your phone, track your phone, erase it, also lets you make it ring incase you lose it at home. things like that its free and well if i ever lose my phone its great to no thats tehre you can lock the phone so when the person that has your phone looks at it you can have your own message on the screen like "hey dude you got my phone call me" then the only number they can dail is the number you put in (on your computer) ok moving on to the phone its self. well the phones great is has a 3D camera for both video and photos which yes you can turn off to shoot normal videos and photos, also the camera works real nice i had the old htc incredible and it had a 8MP camera which i loved the evo only has a 5MP camera but still works great. video looks nice and smooth then you have the front facing camera which works with apps like qik which allows you to video chat with people wether there using android or iphones i use it to talk to my wife on her iphone when we are apart. then you have the speed of the phone its running a 1.2ghrz dual core proccesser if you dont no that that means people talk about how fast the droid 2 is well thats running a single 1.2ghrz proccesser the evo 3D has 2 of those meaning the phones operating system (android) will run off one of the processer along with some other apps leaving you to use the other proccessor for gaming surfing things like that so your phone wont slow down. i watched a video of a guy testing the evo 3D vs the evo 4G and another phone i think it was the droid or thunderbolt or something and he had an app that would test your phones speed by running a test the evo 3D finished the test and showed results before the other 2 even finished the test and the evo 3Ds numbers were alot better. there are lots of apps and well i just love the phone im not the biggest fan of sprint but so far i have no issues i had verizon but it cost way to much sprints doing the job just wish there 4G was faster sprints 4G was tested the other day and other carriers 3G speeds were as fast as sprints 4G but thats off topic hope this helps i no i went on but sorry

Does the iPhone 4 compare to the new 4G Android Verizon Phones?

Q. I'm eligible for an upgrade and Im leaning toward the Samsung Charge because I heard Android phones are amazing and the new 4G network is pretty awsome other than the cutting in and out problem.

I understand that as far as features go the Android phones are better and more advanced.

I just want to know which phones are better overall.

A. any top android phone,

http://www.androidcentral.com/best-android-phones-june-2011

I prefer android over apple for the reason that its open-source, that means that the majority of the apps are free, and you get more revolutionary and cutting edge apps.
the android market already has 250000 apps- closing in on apple 500000, some say it will surpass it before the year is over. and only the oldest of android phones cant use the latest apps, like 2008, and earlier

Security
both Iphone and android offer equal security, though they have different means of doing it.
iphone, verifies all the apps so you cant get a virus through an app, but the rest of the phone is semi-vulnerable.
Android does not check the apps, but the apps are run in a isolated way, as to not affect the system in event of a virus.
so both phones are equally prone to viruses (and if this a big deal for you, android has a antivirus app, which iphone does not)

other reasons for android
turn-by-turn GPS
better and larger screen
no need to connect to computer to sync
heres a big one, add a sd card
better calls
more customizable
more powerful hardware
flash support, watch ALL the online videos

Also apple never invents anything, all they do is steal old technology, give it a fresh coat of paint and mass advertise it as “magical” and “innovating”, thus fooling the mass of the population into believing that apple offers cutting edge technology, that in fact has been around for quite a few years.

I'm buying my first smartphone and I've narrowed down my choices to the iphone 4 or the Motorola Atrix?
Q. The decision I'm trying to make is between an Android phone versus an Apple phone. Can someone breakdown some of the major differences between them for me? Even searching the internet for comparisons came back uninformative and too biased.

A. get the atrix, and with a app called "double twist" you can sync all your itunes music to your android

I prefer android over apple for the reason that its open-source, that means that the majority of the apps are free, and you get more revolutionary and cutting edge apps. And do things are even only barely available on a jail broken iphone

Apple lovers that say that the iphone is made of better quality material? They don’t realize that Samsung, an android phone maker, supply’s the screen, processor and memory for apple devices, so android has the advantage here.
The iphone is pretty, but not durable, drop it once- it breaks, all that glass around it? That was honestly a mistake. Android manufactures clearly saw that, and decided to do with something a little more durable.

And the iphones “retina display” is a huge scam. By definition a ‘retina display’ is one where the human eye cannot distinguish individual pixels. But this is determined by several factors; most important being the distance between the screen and your eyes. The iphones retina distance is 12in, move any closer than that- say 7in and it’s no longer a “retina screen” because your eyes can now see the pixels, by that same token, if I move my android phone back, to say 16-17in, amazingly, it becomes a retina screen as well! (feel free to google this)

Also apple never invents anything, there never “the first”. All they do is steal old technology, give it a fresh coat of paint and mass advertise it as “magical” and “innovating”, thus fooling the mass of the population into believing that apple offers cutting edge technology, that in fact has been around for quite a few years.
So instead of innovating, apple actually hinders technology- after 4 years they still have low-power single core phones, while android, an example of technology in overdrive, has rumored that, after their second year, the release of quad core phones that will surpass even some desktop computers in shear processing power.

Apple should now feel pretty worried; android has passed it in market share
http://www.businessinsider.com/android-iphone-market-share-2011-4

Then apple panics and sues
http://www.dailytech.com/Google+ExCEO+Apple+Doesnt+Innovate+They+Sue/article22190.htm
The funny thing is that apple can’t sue for being the first touchscreen or tablet, because they weren’t,(Nokia fist touch screen, “archos” first tablet) so instead they sue for much more relevant things like, “the rounded icon corners” and “having a flat screen” or “the square shape of the phone”……..

To top it all, if you’ve seen apples 2011 presentation, they blatantly copied over five "new" features that were previously on android.
http://androidandme.com/2011/06/news/five-features-in-ios-5-that-show-how-apple-is-now-playing-catch-up-to-google/

1. Notification bar
2. Twitter integration
3. No need to connect to PC to sync
4. Launch apps from lock screen

Though I suppose Google should’ve seen it coming….

How can i buy a used iphone and still keep my current cell phone carrier?

Q. So i have Metro Pcs, and i really want an iphone. Right now i have a Samsung admire, its an android thats 3g. Metro Pc doesnt sell iphones, and i was thinking of buying it used off of amazon or ebay. how can i buy a used ipone and connect it to metro pcs?

A. The iPhone (play /ˈaɪfoʊn/ EYE-fohn) is a line of smartphones designed and marketed by Apple Inc. It runs Apple's iOS mobile operating system, originally named "iPhone OS". The first iPhone was released on June 29, 2007;[14] the most recent iPhone, the sixth-generation iPhone 5, was released on September 21, 2012.[15] The user interface is built around the device's multi-touch screen, including a virtual keyboard rather than a physical one. The iPhone has Wi-Fi and cellular connectivity (2G, 3G and 4G (iPhone 5 only)).

What is the best type/touch-and-type phone in the market as of Dec 2012?
Q. It's Christmas time and my father and I decided to gift my mother a beautiful new smartphone. Since my mother basically uses her phone for calling, messaging and music (a lot of music)...and maybe even a little bit of photography (though not a lot), we were looking for a mobile phone that excels in these areas. Another very important requirement is that the phone must have a QWERTY keypad - for my mother does not like touch phones. However, a touch AND type phone is acceptable.

Our current contestants include BlackBerry, Samsung, Nokia and HTC. However, my father has an HTC phone that discharges in a matter of two days. So, we were a little unsure about it. iPhone is out of the contest because it doesn't produce phones with keyboards - to my knowledge.

As for costs, I don't really have a specific range. But it better be below the cost of an iPhone (which is about a 1000 USD here in the Philippines). I would say between USD 240 to 600. But it's not set in stone - the quality and the features of the phone are more important and the range can be extended if necessary.

A. The best: Samsung Captivate Glide It's a lot like the popular Samsung Galaxy S II (4.5 stars, $199.99), with the addition of a full, slide-out QWERTY keyboard and a slight bump down in specs. It's our Editors' Choice for keyboarded smartphones on AT&T.

Physical Features, Phone Calls, and Internet
The Captivate Glide measures 4.9 by 2.5 by 0.5 inches (HWD) and weighs 5.2 ounces. Made out of lightly textured black plastic, the Glide looks unassuming, but feels well built and comfortable in your hand.

View all 6 photos in gallery

The 4-inch, 800-by-480-pixel Super AMOLED display is gorgeous. It has fewer subpixels than the Super AMOLED Plus display on the Galaxy S II, but it still looks excellent. The screen can get very bright, but darker colors maintain a luxurious depth and richness. Four haptic feedback-enabled functions keys sit beneath the display, which are suitably responsive. Typing on the on-screen QWERTY was fine, but I suspect most people are looking to the Glide for the real thing. The phone slides open to reveal a large, four-row physical keyboard. The keys are large and backlit, with comfortable, even spacing. They're a bit flat, but it shouldn't take long to adjust to typing on them.

The Glide is a good voice phone. Reception is average, and calls sound rich, clear, and natural in the phone's earpiece. The speakerphone also sounds good but volume doesn't go loud enough to use outdoors. Calls made with the phone are clear, though voices can sound thin and background noise cancellation is just average. I had no trouble connecting to a Jawbone Era Bluetooth headset ($129.99, 4.5 stars) and calls sounded great. Thankfully, voice dialing works better here, using Android's native voice-dialing app, than it does on the Galaxy S II, which uses a version of Vlingo that had difficulty recognizing names.

The Glide is a world phone that uses AT&T's HSPA+ 21 network and 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi. It also works as a Wi-Fi hotspot with the right service plan. Download speeds averaged 4Mbps down, with peak speeds of 8Mbps, while uploads were around 1Mbps up. Those numbers are good, but they're no match for AT&T's blazing 4G LTE speeds on devices like the Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket ($249.99, 4.5 stars). This isn't too big a deal, though, because AT&T only has LTE in 14 cities right now. Battery life was excellent, at 10 hours 3 minutes of continuous talk time.

Processor and Apps
The Captivate Glide is powered by Nvidia's 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor. It scored well in our benchmark tests, easily overpowering single-core devices, though not quite at the top of the dual-core heap.

The phone runs Android 2.3.5 "Gingerbread" with Samsung's TouchWiz extensions. There are some useful add-on apps, including Media Hub, a downloadable music and video store with reasonable prices, and Social Hub, a combination Facebook/Twitter client. There's also some bloatware from AT&T, including FamilyMap and the U-Verse Live TV app, which are both deletable. Other apps, like AT&T Navigator and an AT&T 'Featured Apps' store, are not. The Glide should be compatible with most everything in the Android Market, which currently has over 1250,000 apps.

When you have a At&T android phone dose it cost extra to download the apps from android market and use them?

Q. When i say download apps i mean free apps, like dose at&t charge extra for the download and use of them? What about blackberry? And Iphone? Do they charge extra too? Which one is better, Android, blackberry, or iphone?

A. it depends, some apps you have to pay for, but you dont have to pay to download them- they only use data from your data plan which you pay for. (but you can use wifi instead).
and no you don't have to pay to use them, that is unless their online/multiplayer games, but the again you can just use wifi

how good is the htc inspire compared to the iphone 4?
Q. I'm thinking about either getting a iphone 4 or htc inspire. im not sure which one is the best. I have an itouch and I have an android powered phone now. Update for Galaxy Note?

Q. Hi People, I posted this yesterday and everyone seems clueless about it.

Does anybody know when there will finally be ICE CREAM SANDWICH for galaxy note?

I can't stand Gingerbread...the most simple of actions either make the phone lag/ crash and the UI is even worse! It was meant to be a so CALLED "Upgrade" from the S2 which has ICE CREAM SANDWICH and runs games/ apps flawlessly with no lag and can easily manage apps, doesn't get hot ect, ect.

Websites keeps saying it will be release Q2 2012? what the hell does that even mean, even google can't define it? I love samsung phones but they are just terrible at promising updates then stalling behind.

Regards

Shane.
Android phones do update like IO phones (apple)

I recently upgraded my Galaxy S2 from 2.3.4 to android 4.0.3 (ice cream sandwich) mid april - If you want to be helpful atleast get your facts right before making blunt answers

A. Android smartphones won't update like iOS.
You're stuck with what you have.

Do i have galaxy nexus or nexus 2?
Q. How do i know if i have galaxy nexus or nexus 2?..if i type nexus 2 in google its the same

A. There never was a "Nexus 2". All of Google's Nexus devices have been named differently. Here are the names of each device.

Google Nexus One - Made by HTC and released around Q1 2010 - Q2 2010 (3 year old phone now). First of the Nexus phones and had extremely high end specs during its release. All aluminum design, 3.7" AMOLED display (or SLCD display depending on the model). Has a circular trackpad that glows when a notification is received.

Google Nexus S - Made by Samsung and released around Q4 2010 - Q1 2011. Introduced the Android 2.3.x Gingerbread OS. Has capacitive buttons and removes trackpad that Nexus One has. 4" SUPER AMOLED display and a plastic design.

How long does your battery on your Android usually last?

Q. I know every phone will be different, but I worry about mine. I usually get over 8 hours when I use it a lot an more than that if I don't have wifi on and things. What's the battery like on your Android phone?

A. my Sony Xperia S (Android 4.0 ice cream sandwich) battery lasts about 1.5 days. And I am a moderate user.

Is the samsung galaxy s3 mini a good choice if not what are some goo ones with front facing camera?
Q. I need an android phone. Touch screen with 5 or more mp rear facing and a front facing camera for taking pics and videos and to skype must be android 4.0 4.1 4.2 for a ten year old must be must be 2500 TTD or less prepaid

A. Why not iPhone? iPhones have a really nice camera and it will get an awesome (free) system update this fall that maks it faster and has a really simple yet beautiful design. And if you think an iPhone is too expensive then you might consider waiting until apple reveales their next iPhone because it is roumors that they will launch one cheap model and one more expensive.

Can you change your phone halfway through a 2 year contract.?

Q. In January 2013 I had an upgrade on my phone, I upgraded to an iPhone 5 (I'm with EE UK provider) I found out the iPhone 5 is really basic to use and cannot customize it at all, I'm very geeky at IT.

I really want to change to an android phone like the Samsung S4 because you can do a lot more on an Andriod then an Apple iPhone. My question is can you change your phone after 6 Months of having it on a 24 Month contract.

A. Yes you can but be assured it will cost you plenty of money to do so.

Which phone should I get thhe Samsung Galaxy s3 or Iphone 4s?
Q. Im gonna get a new phone this month and im torn between these 2. Its my first smartphone and I want it to be a really great phone.
Which phone do you think I should get?

A. Hi, I recommend to buy the iPhone 4s, rumors says that iPhone 5 will appear on december or march 2013, but it appears that will not have innovations maybe the processor will be a little faster but thats all.

You can buy the Apple iPhone 4S 16GB for AT&T here:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B005VGFQXE/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B005VGFQXE&linkCode=as2&tag=acomprar-20

You can also buy the Apple iPhone 4S 16GB Black - FACTORY UNLOCKED this is the best price for it:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006FMDVDK/ref=as_li_ss_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B006FMDVDK&linkCode=as2&tag=acomprar-20

I had both phones and at first i thought the galaxy was gonna be better cause it had the larger screen and the swype text mode and other little features

but......

The iphone 4S is actually better I was shocked

the 4G that the galaxy has is very fast.....its faster than the iphone 4S but its not that much faster.........the screen on the galaxy is bigger than the iphone...however the iphone is still the better phone

the reason why is because the set up.......iphone has 1 home screen button that brings you back to the main screen it is much easier to navigate through the iphone than the galaxy....if i need to get to something fast i can do it much faster on my iphone than on the galaxy...also if i need to do something without looking on the screen i can use the siri function which although it is overrated , it is very useful sometimes....also because there is a bigger screen on the galaxy you also have more clutter..which means you have to fish through icons to find what you want to get to...the video display and pictures on the iphone are amazing...

Overall

Android has nice phones but there are sometimes too much stuff on them......keep it simple with the iphone you will be happier...easier to navigate on the iphone 4S

What is the best android phone out right now?

Q. I just got rid of my DROID X and I want something better. The Motorola Defy looks cool but it lacks other stuff.

I want something with 4g and a high resolution camera like 8mp. And all of the standard android available apps.

The perfect phone would be a mix of all, indestructible, 8mp or better camera, 4g, and a large touch screen. Size of DROIDX. Maybe even face time camera on the front.

A. Samsung galaxy s II

Can you still use a non activated smart phone?
Q. I am looking to replace my iPod touch, I was wondering if I could use a smart phone that is not activated to use apps from the android market and use the rest of the phones utilities except calling. The reason that I don't want to activate it, if you must know, is simple: I have a phone and I don't want to pay for smartphone Internet. Nor do I want a no contract phone.

Also what smart phone would you recommend? Preferably onewith an 8mp camera.

A. Yes, most phone do not need data plan to activate, most can activate through wifi. If they do, just do a little research to find a work around. I would recommend the new Droid 3 coming out in a few weeks.

Check out the guide below on how to do the work around: http://www.androidsim.net/2009/08/how-to-5-how-to-registeractivate-your.html

Should I buy a graphing calculator or a phone?

Q. I'm buying some randoms and I'm considering either a graphing calculator or an android phone (Sony xperia ray. I already have a ti-83 plus graphing calculator and a android smartphone (galaxy nexus). Which one should I buy?

A. Whichever one you want.
The TI 84 is barely any different than the TI 83.
The TI 89 is not that better.
The nspires are great, if you how to use it.
The nspire cx is better, if you know how to use it.

And don't phones cost for service?

Get whatever you want or will use.

I would not use a phone because I have few friends, but I program my calculator all day long (maybe that's why I don't have friends)

What are some fun apps and games for android?

Q. What are some fun FREE games and apps for an android phone? Also if you could, explain what they are.

A. There are lots of free games out there. Depending on what type you like to play...arcade, puzzle, racing. Being little more specific in your questions will help too. Try Angry Birds, you grab a bird, fling it across screen, and hope to land on the bad guys (pigs). Bubble Blast 2 is a puzzle game in which you burst bubbles to trigger a chain reaction in order to eliminate them. My kids like Raging Thunder, free and paid version. You can tilt you phone to steer...check out https://market.android.com/ you can view free and paid apps there.

What do i need to know to keep my android phone viruse free? i starting to download a few things.?
Q. I downloaded Versagram and I downloaded a game from Playstore. I download files and pictures but I haven't download any videos yet. What shouldn't I do to prevent viruses on my phone and what should I know? I want to keep my android phone viruse free. What shouldn't I download or avoid?

A. Get Lookout. It scans everything you download to make sure it's safe. (:

It also will let your phone scream if it gets lost, backs everything up, and sends you an email every week to let you know everything is fine.

A. the evo 3D hands down, not only is the 3D cool as hell but the phone just works great its running threw newest android and the newest HTC sense. the new htc sense has an app that comes on the phone that will let you lock your phone, track your phone, erase it, also lets you make it ring incase you lose it at home. things like that its free and well if i ever lose my phone its great to no thats tehre you can lock the phone so when the person that has your phone looks at it you can have your own message on the screen like "hey dude you got my phone call me" then the only number they can dail is the number you put in (on your computer) ok moving on to the phone its self. well the phones great is has a 3D camera for both video and photos which yes you can turn off to shoot normal videos and photos, also the camera works real nice i had the old htc incredible and it had a 8MP camera which i loved the evo only has a 5MP camera but still works great. video looks nice and smooth then you have the front facing camera which works with apps like qik which allows you to video chat with people wether there using android or iphones i use it to talk to my wife on her iphone when we are apart. then you have the speed of the phone its running a 1.2ghrz dual core proccesser if you dont no that that means people talk about how fast the droid 2 is well thats running a single 1.2ghrz proccesser the evo 3D has 2 of those meaning the phones operating system (android) will run off one of the processer along with some other apps leaving you to use the other proccessor for gaming surfing things like that so your phone wont slow down. i watched a video of a guy testing the evo 3D vs the evo 4G and another phone i think it was the droid or thunderbolt or something and he had an app that would test your phones speed by running a test the evo 3D finished the test and showed results before the other 2 even finished the test and the evo 3Ds numbers were alot better. there are lots of apps and well i just love the phone im not the biggest fan of sprint but so far i have no issues i had verizon but it cost way to much sprints doing the job just wish there 4G was faster sprints 4G was tested the other day and other carriers 3G speeds were as fast as sprints 4G but thats off topic hope this helps i no i went on but sorry

will the android phones be able to upgrade to the 4g network?

Q. i just got the HTC droid incredible with verizon, and i was wondering if, once verizon gets the 4g network, with there be a mass android phone upgrade that will upgrade all the android phones to the 4G network? i know that there was an update that gave the droid the pinch feature for making screens bigger. So will there be an upgrade that does this?

A. No, how it works is for the phone to be able to utilize said connection of 4G, it requires certain hardware similar to how some computers are not able to access wireless, they need a hardware chip and can't just simply install a program/set it up. Which is why Sprint only has the Evo able to use 4G and why the others can't due to not being a software upgradeable compatibility but a hardware requirement able to use the signal.

An example is T Mobile's HSPA+ rollout. T Mobile is rolling out HSPA+ a 3G network with enhanced speeds fast as and faster than Sprint's 4G, although their devices are able to receive a boost because it is still 3G, the hardware is not capable of utilizing the full power, therefore the need for an HSPA+ device to show off their network which is where the HTC Vanguard/Vision comes in with the hardware capability - soon to be released this summer stated by T Mobile via Twitter feed, although thought to be October/November.

So you will need a new cell phone for 4G, and even then it has to be in your area, I recommend mid 2011 since it's planned to roll out end of 2010/ beginning of 2011 I believe.
