Q. I obviously have an idea (and experienc)e of the capabilities of an Iphone, and this latest model (4s) too.
However, I don't have an idea or experiences with an Xperia arc S.
These phones are both very recent and I was looking to buy one of them.
Obviously Iphone 4s beats Xperia with almost everything, but I'm still interested in the arc because;
1) It is (especially) cheaper to buy. The cheapest and effective deal for me id £20 monthly for Xperia whilst Iphone 4s is £40 (double).
So money-wise Xperia would be greater.
2) I like recording or taking pictures. Xperia SEEMS better in this section, but you tell me.
3) I understand that the App Store has more apps than the Android Market, but still; please let me
know if it's a good idea to get Xperia even then. There are many apps great for xperia, and they may work better with Xperia? I also know Xperia has Adobe Flash, so how does that help?
Please just summarise the benefits of Xperia X10 over Iphone and help me decide because I'm more fascinated in buying Xperia rather than Iphone; the money is the main reason why.

A. xperia - 1.4ghz single core processor 512 mg ram.
iphone - 1 ghz single core processor 512 mg ram.
xperia - 4.3 inch screen.
iphone - 3.5 inch screen
both have 8mg cameras with led flash
xperia has flash that will allow you to view the internet until HTML5 is wholly adopted
iphone does not have flash so you only see apple version of internet until HTML5 is wholly adopted.
xperia - android OS
iphone - iOS
as far as hardware goes both the xperia & iphone4S are average at best with specs that were only just scraping by for what is expected from todays current line up of smartphones. both these phones are outclassed already & will be considered obsolete come 2012.
both phones however do still perform well & will suit the budget conscience that dont lust after the bleeding edge high tech phones from samsung, htc & motorola.
as both phones are very similar in spec & capabilty it comes down to personal preference. if you are a girl or have small hands the iphone may suit you but if you have no problem holding a slightly larger device you will love the larger 4 inch screen of the xperia. the xperia does feel very nice in the hand & is a nice weight giving it an overall quality build feel. the iphone feels small & fragile by comparison.
as far as apps go, apple claims about 100,000 more apps than android market but when you have several hundred thousand apps to choose from on both stores the difference is kind of pointless unless you intend to have 32 weather apps or 55 news apps etc on your iphone,,you can get every type of app on android to do the same things as what you can get through the app store.
operating system is a a personal preference as well. if you are computer literate & comfortable using a computer, adjusting settings etc then iphone OS will frustrate you no end. if you dont really know or care about how to use a computer & pretty much computer illiterate then iphone will be perfect for you, iphone's ease of operation & stability comes at the cost of limited functions & locked down settings. remember the old saying. "apple doesn't ask what it's customers want, apple ask's what it's customers can do without".as my son's friends at school say " iphones are for soccer moms who only know how to use a computer to play solitare" if your main reason is price for getting the xperia then you will have a win win. android will allow you to do every single thing an iphone can do plus lots more that iphone cannot do. fun stuff like widgets, live content etc. good luck & have fun.

A. Both phones share a lot in common as both run on the latest android 2.3 (gingerbread) os using 1Ghz processors. The Xperia sports a larger screen size 4.2" to 3.7" but has a lower ram 512mb vs 768mb.
One distinct advantage of the Arc is its 8 mp camera that produces good pictures even in low light condition. So if image quality and large screen size is important to you go with the Xperia Arc if these factors are not deal breakers for you then can't go wrong with either phone.
