you now need a "shared" data plan for all your devices
smartphones are $40 a month, and the data plan required vary in price depending how much you want.
if you don't want a data plan, you can get a Samsung Galaxy Player, or you can get a variety of tablets.

Should I wait for upcoming 2012 Verizon smartphones?
Q. My upgrade is mid-January 2012 and I was wondering should I wait a bit for a better phone? I was thinking of getting the Droid RAZR but 2012 phones might be better so I'm not sure.
A. you should either get the RAZR or Rezound or Galaxy Nexus now... or wait till CES 2012 in January, the mobile tech show in Las Vegas where they will highlight the newer phones... I do know that quad core phones with tegra 3 and klor-el will be highlighted... as well as other phones with Android ICS 4.0 preinstalled
