Finding unlocked Android phones under $100?

Q. The current phone I have is from sprint and by the time my prepaid card runs out, I'll probably need a new phone. This phone was only $60, it's a Samsung (dunno what it is EXACTLY). It has a qwerty keyboard, touchscreen, wifi, & 3.5 inch screen. It's an android 2.3. I just want a phone with wifi, a qwerty keyboard (if possible), & a decent size screen. I don't exactly have a big budget either, so preferably I want an android phone around under $100 to $140 at the most.

A. ok i have a smartphone android it has wifi, keyboard, and decent size like u said

i will sell it for $100

Q. My dad's friend bought an Android for $280.00, and he said it was too 'advanced' for him, so he's selling it to my dad for $100.00 and he's giving it to me. Are Androids good phones? And are they better than iPhones? Please help me!

A. Yes, Androids are good phones. There are thousands of apps and games available at Android Store

What are some cheap Android Phones?
Q. I already know about one which is the Samsung Dart. I was just wondering if there are any other android devices that run pretty smooth for about $100-$120.

A. anything android will eventually be glitchy. if ur set on android(eugh), make sure it has at least a 800mhz-1ghz processorfor top prformance. many mid-range devices have 1ghz processors now a days

Can an "unlocked" android phone connect to WiFi?
Q. If I buy a new unlocked android cell phone, can I connect Wi-Fi?
And would I be able to use an app like ''Text-Plus'' to text and make phone calls, when I'm in Wi-Fi range?

The situation is, I don't use my phone outside of my house very much. So if i just had a basic android phone that had a calling app (text-plus, Google voice, etc.) I think it would work perfect for me, and i wont have to pay a monthly phone bill.

Note: I do not plan on getting a SIM card... if i don't have to.

Thank you for any help!
Don't comment with something that's NOT an answer! if you have no information that will help me, I don't need it. Simple as that!
will it work even if i get something with android v2.2?
Thank you so much!

A. Im using a unlocked android phone right now so the answer is yes.

I've also been using my phone for wifi and using a free calling app, instead of paying $100.00 a month phone bill. The app I use to make calls is magic jack. I go to the play store (app store) and type in "free calls" in the search bar, and magic jack is towards the top of the list.

To turn on your wifi, go to your phone menu, click on setting, then click on wireless & networks. After clicking on wireless & networks, go to wifi settings and click on your account name and type in your password, then click connect. Also make sure you have a "check" in the Network Notification box under Wireless & Networks along with a check in the WiFi box.

What android phone should is good to these standards?

Q. an up to date touch screen w/ optional keyboard text.
are there any phones out there like this anymore? are they all 100% touch screen now?
i say android because im with T.Mobile. can android phones be jailbroken like iphones so I can be able to down apps for free?
an android phone I can slip my sim card and and start using right away w/o paying for internet

A. Ok... So... To the first question:

a) About the keyboard in latest phones.... Well that is definitely a tough one! But there are still a few options available. These are some of them that are relatively up to date... ( I interpreted an up to date phone (android) as one that is running on android Ice cream sandwich 4.0.x or higher with a fair hardware power) :

- Samsung Galaxy Chat B5330:
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_chat_b5330-4866.php

- Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere II I415:
http://www.gsmarena.com/samsung_galaxy_stratosphere_ii_i415-5124.php

- LG Mach LS860:
http://www.gsmarena.com/lg_mach_ls860-5032.php

- Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE
http://www.gsmarena.com/motorola_photon_q_4g_lte-4885.php

second:

b) Yes, android phones can be ROOTED (root = jailbreak for android, to make it simple), BUT you don't need to root your phone in order to be able to download *free* apps ( *cough google search for "alternatives to google play store" cough *).

third:
You won't be able to use data connection in a phone if you are not paying for that service to some carrier.
In order to be able to use any SIM card in your phone ( from different carriers) your phone has to be carrier unlocked, means that you did not buy it subsidized by any carrier via a contract. If your phone is carrier locked, you can still root it to unlock it or sometimes the carriers will let you pay some fee for them to unlock it via IMEI .

Hope this was helpfull! sorry if I didn't explain myself vastly but I'm in a hurry hehe! Good luck finding your phone!

Is there an Android phone that a "college student" budget could afford?

Q. I think Android phones look great but am overwhelmed by the options and only have a "college student" budget. Is there something for me out there or should I wait until I've graduated?

A. Go to a Verizon store and see what they have in stock. My fiance and I each bought an LG Ally, and it cost $50 for one and $0 for the other after $100 mail-in rebates. The cost of the phones and the MIR were both able to go to our bill, too, so there was nothing up-front.

Phones change out pretty fast, so there's probably a newer model that is already near/at the same cost.

How can i transfer iTunes playlists to my android phone?
Q. Pretty straightforward in the question
i want to transfer my iTunes playlists to my android phone for Free but i dont know how ?

A. You can actually do it. For the locked songs, it is a bit difficult but still doable. Check these videos. http://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=transfer+itunes+to+android&oq=transfer+itunes+to+android&aq=f&aqi=g1g-m1&aql=&gs_sm=e&gs_upl=30l3152l0l3358l22l17l0l2l2l1l707l4528l1.5.5.1.0.2.1l15l0

I really want the mytouch3g but should I wait for a better Android phone for T-mobile?
Q. The $100 coupon is sooo tempting and I am just about ready to give in and buy one but I need to know if it's worth it for contract. Should I wait for a better Android phone or just go with the mytouch?

A. It's mostly personal preference. There will be different "flavors" of android on several new devices for T-Mobile over the coming months. The Mytouch and G1 both use straight android with no modifications. The Motorola Cliq (coming out w/in 2 months) will be running android with a bit of modification from motorola. Samsung as well is supposed to be releasing an android phone in the near future running android. There will be many choices. I personally have the MyTouch, and I love it. The Motorola Cliq does look really nice and also has a physical keyboard if you prefer a real keypad as well. You can check it out via: http://www.t-mobile.com/cliq

Be aware though, that promotion ends when supplies run out, or on the 24th, so make sure you decide soon :)

What is the point of having a tablet if you have a laptop and an android phone?
Q. I have been looking into different tablets, but what is the point of having a tablet if I have a laptop and an android phone? Do tablets play music?

A. personally tablets are useless. they're a highly marked up fad brought on by apple because they have no real products to compete in the real world.
I have an android a laptop and tablet. My wife realizes now the tablet is useless. she uses it to play words with friends and draw something. it's easier for her to see. but mostly.. the phone is used more.
I prefer a laptop, I can do 100 times the things with it. yes, it's bigger and bulkier, but the laptop is more utilitarian for me. If I want to download a large file, I can! If I want to run a program I just downloaded, I can!
the tablet.. I have to transfer it to the laptop. It's easier to use a tablet if you're just reading news or ebooks or even listening to music, or chatting via skype or whatever.. but aside from that, I prefer a laptop.

How did my android phone calendar appointments make it to my iPad?

Q. I use a GalaxySII android phone and put all my appointments on my phone's calendar. I updated my first generation iPad to IOS5 last week. This morning, I noticed that all my android phone calendar items are now on my iPad calendar. I do not think I did any 'sync' set ups between my phone and iPad (maybe I did something inadvertently). Does anyone know how this sync happened? I don't mind it, just wondering how it works. Thanks for your help!

A. If you had set up a sync option between your phone and your google calender and your iPad and google calander, that would do the trick. See whether that's what happened. If you are new to the android world, I would suggest the amazon ebook: 100 Ways you can use your android device.
