What windows 7 phone is better? LG quantium or HTC Desire Z?

Q. taking out personal prefernce of coure.
dont bring in any other Cell because down here those are the only Windows 7 phone here

A. HTC Desire Z is a very good phone but it runs on Android, not Win 7. LG Quantum is a Win 7 phone. Specs looks very good to me but the only problem is, it has no card slot, so you can't upgrade the memory. You'll have 16GB internal memory though. If you need LG Quantum cheaper, you can mail me to manchurianp@yahoo.com

What phone is better : htc desire z, iphone 4,or samsung galaxy s and why?
Q.

A. Hahaha ^ Android does NOT have more apps than Apple's App Store. iPhone 4 has way more applications. The iphone 4 is by far a better phone than the HTC, or Galaxy S because of the app store, the over all UI (user-interface) is much cleaner and easier to use, its a faster phone than the latter, the retina display is amazingly clear and bright, the phone is more asthetically pleasing overall, the iPod/iTunes music organization is much more easy to use and did I mention more apps?

Which HTC Desire do I have?

Q. Okay, first off, I always wanted an android phone, and this Christmas I finally got one as a gift. I have heard of the HTC Desire Z and the HTC Desire HD. How do I know which one I got? And yes,,, I know it might be a silly question to some, but please, bear with me and be kind and help me out,,,thanks
Thanks Sebastien the image links really helped! I guess I should have added to my question,,,,,,which HTC Desire is the better one? Awesome profile avatar! Where did you get the wings?

thats the desire hd witch ever one looks like your is the one you got and also the desire hd doesnt have a keyboared the desire z does

Is the HTC Desire Z a good phone?
Q. I'm thinking of getting a new phone - my contract ends next month!
Just wondering if this phone is any good?
If not, which is a good phone?
I'm trying to avoid blackberry, iphone and samsung (have one now, and it just has SO many software issues!)
Thanks!

A. It all boils down to personal taste.
I've owned a BB, iphone, Nokia smartphones within the past 1.5 years and can absolutely tell that I love my Desire Z the most out of them all. It is also one of the better Android phones until now and the HTC Sense + physical keyboard is unbeatable. Most of the time I use the phone as a Wifi hotspot and tether to my laptop.
The only downside is the battery life which you most probably will have to charge every night - with intensive use it might last you only half a day.

If you ask me, this is my most satisfied phone to date.

can i upgrade the version of android in my htc desire z?
Q. ok i have an htc desire z which i love and heard that i can upgrade the software to the latest android version, can i? and if so where do i get it?

many thanks, adam

A. It might not be out for you. The update is launched at different times. Australia pretty much got it first with some countries to follow soon. You can check if the update is available on your phone. Normally, it would automatically tell you if the update is available or not, but if you think the update has arrived but your phone hasn't said a thing, you can check manually.

All you have to do is go into Settings, About phone and then System software update (or something similar to that) and then click the button on the bottom that says Check Updates (or something similar). Make sure your phone is connected to the internet (preferably to a Wi-Fi network). It will then check if the update is available. If it does find an update, it will allow you to download it. Once the update is downloaded, you have to go into the notification bar and launch the update installer, then follow the instructions and the phone will then reboot.

which phone, samsung galaxy s, htc desire z or blackberry bold 9780?
Q. which pphone should i get i need help im confused

A. It depends. All of those three phones are really nice. It's really more of a personal opinion and what fits your needs.

The Samsung Galaxy S phones (Galaxy S is a series of phones) usually have a 4-inch AMOLED touchscreen which are great. They are more vivid than most other touchscreens. They also use Android OS (the latest one is Gingerbread (2.3) although only the new Nexus S is officially using that, all other phones for now are on Froyo (2.2)) which is a very nice OS. It uses the Android Market which has around 100,000 apps and counting. The only difference between these phones from other Android devices is they are skinned with Samsung's theme along with the hardware differences (by that I mean physical differences of the phone). I find Samsung's theme a bit kid-oriented compared to the stock one. Also most Samsung Galaxy S devices feature a plastic build, which make it very light but also have a cheap feeling along with it.

The HTC Desire Z (The G2) is also an Android phone although it gives you the the stock Android experience (which is a good thing). No themes or whatever. Also uses the Android Market. Only difference is it's made by HTC, has a more metallic feel to it, and features a sliding keyboard although it's a bit thicker. It's also heavier and such.

The Blackberry Bold 9780 on the other hand, feature RIM's newest OS which is OS 6. It features the same internals as the Blackberry Torch (The 624MHz processor and 512MB of RAM) while being housed in the traditional Blackberry Bold casing. No touchscreen though, all trackpad and keyboard operated. The trackpad is really nice, the build quality is really superior, it has a very light but durable feeling onto it. Also the keyboard is amazing, one of the best you'll ever try on a mobile device. Still despite those nice perks it comes with some downsides too, the App World does not have as many apps as the Android Market (around 20,000) and it doesn't feature an accelerometer so games that make use of that are not accessible (racing games and such where you turn the device sideways to control). Still it's by far the best trackpad/keyboard based device I've ever used. I like it better than the Blackberry Torch. Another thing is, when you get a Blackberry, you can also make use of the Blackberry Internet Service plan (availability varies depending on network) which pushes all your email in real-time (meaning as soon as you get an email it shows up on your phone). It's a phone more oriented towards business, messaging, rather than fun and games.

By the way Android OS is a very flexible operating system. Most phones using Android OS can be modified several ways by using custom ROMS to use a build of Android from other phones (like an EVO Android build on a Galaxy S). XDA-developers is a huge community dedicated to modding Android and Windows Mobile OS. Let's just say Android is a very customizable operating system. Just keep that in mind. Still customization depends on the phone since some manufacturers put restrictions to restrict modifications however hackers usually break the restrictions soon.

If it was me I'd go with the HTC Desire Z but I really like the Samsung Galaxy S's display.

Samsung Galaxy S devices include the Captivate (for AT&T), Vibrant (for T-Mobile), and the Galaxy Tab (for all four carriers).

Super Bluetooth (hack) for android (htc desire z)?

Q. Am wondering is it possible to download Super Bluetooth onto Android phones (I have htc desire z) and if so what website can it be downloaded from??

A. Google is your friend....

http://www.mobiles24.com/downloads/s/14678-111-super_bluetooth_hack

It is highly unlikely that you will find many if any BT phones with actively discoverable BT, since the default is pretty much always off, unless pairing devices.

what are the minimum requirements for n64oid for android system?
Q. hi,i have a phone alcatel ot 990,and i want to install n64oid,but always when i run to install it,it shows error, while i installed it properly on htc desire z..could it be a weaker processor which can't handle n64oid??
alcatel ot 990 has 512mb of ram and 600 mhz qualcom processor
can you tell me is it problem with my phone specs,or im not installing corectly, thanks?

A. N64oid has been updated to version 2.6.2 with new features and fixes in this version. As we know, n64oid is a famous and popularNintendo 64 emulator for Android. N64oid is a portedversion of Mupen64plus with Ari64’s ARM dynarec. With n64oid, you can enjoy Nintendo games run smoothly on yourAndroid device. All you need is a high end Android device with high specifications Like Galaxy S, Nexus S, Xoom or any other high end device. N64oid, as one of many emulators which are available on Android Market, has good games compatibility compared to other emulators. With n64oid, you can save or start your game at any point, just like an in gamesave support. There is also a configurable on screen keypad that is easy to use. Also, there is an option to use the G-sensor as the analog stick. There are several settings you can set up based on your need.

To run n64oid 2.6.2, the requirement systems are Android 2.1 and higher version, ARMv7 compatible CPU and OpenGL-ES 2.0. On this version, what features has been added is that n64oid now supports up to 4 bluetooth gamepads through BlueziME, with true analog input support. On previous version n64oid 2.3, some bugs have been fixed and general performance was improved. N64oid 2.6.2 has light .Apk file size about 700 Kb. N64oid.Apk works on Android 2.1 and higher version.

Android phones with a qwerty keyboard?
Q. Was wondering if there will be any android phones coming out soon are are already out that have a qwerty keyboard, i really like the HTC desire Z but it is fairly old was just wondering if anyone knows if there will be a similar phone to that being released soon, or a second generation desire z?

A. There is a new from Samsung. I am not from the US and I can't remember the exact model. Here in S.E Asia the common is the Desire Z or the Samsung 551.

The Galaxy Pro is also a QWERTY phone.

HTC has the Cha-cha....In the US there's also one from Motorola.

Is it possible to upgrade Android OS on a smart phone?
Q. I'm planning to buy a smartphone - HTC Desire or SAMSUNG Galaxy S with Android 2.2. However I heard there is a new version of Android that will released later this year to the marked (version 3.0).

If I buy a phone now, is it possible to upgrade the OS later? Or is it suggested that I wait for sometime.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

A. So far there're just some phones with 2.2. As far as i know those are:

-Google Nexus One (just sold to developers)
-HTC Desire/Bravo
-Samsung Galaxy S

As HTC is seen as one of the main producers of Androidphones and the fact i own a Desire myself, i will take HTC as reference:
Considering that the most recently updated phone is the Desire (not the Droid) it's most likely that this phone gets an 3.0 update. Even though phones without an own software-package, like the Droid and Nexus One are "easier" to update since they got no own software to change, HTC phones seem to be sold more often and are therefore better supported.
BUT, and it's a big but, HTC produces alot of different phones in a rather short time. The Desire HD will come, a Desire Z was seen, so there might be a change of their flagship quite soon which will result in a change of their "update-ranking" as there has been with G1 and Hero before.

The Galaxy S is Samsung's first real hit on the Androidmarket and will most likely be updated as fast as they can, but even here you got the same problem, the I9200 will come and change the Galaxy S position.

Conclusion:
buy a "flagship" and you will most likely get a phone which will be updated to 3.0. If you want to make sure to get 3.0 (even though it's said not to change too much) you will have to wait. But then you will ask the same question about Android 3.1 or 4.0.

What are the advantages and disadvantages of rooting an android phone?

Q. I have a HTC Desire Z running Android 2.2 i wanted to take screen-shots of it but it's looking like i'd have to root my phone. so my question is; why should i do it? will i loose my nice HTC Sense interface and access to their apps? from looking i have only seemed to find advantages but i'm sure there must be a downside.

A. You will lose your phone warranty

Is it better to wait for Meego handsets or buy Android ones?
Q. I'm confused whether to buy Android handsets Galaxy S, Desire Z or wait for some Meego handsets from Nokia? Do you think Meego will be better than Droids?

A. Go for Android.

Meego isn't ready yet. A major way in which users evaluate the Operating System these days is through the number and quality of the apps developed for it. This means the Operating System must attract lots of app developers.

Android has taken a long time to become a proper competitor to the iPhone in this respect. When Meego hits the streets, it will not only have the iPhone and Android incumbents to contend with for the developers' attention, there will be the new BlackBerry PlayPad and any offering that Microsoft might come up with.

My bet is that Android will be the eventual winner of this particular race, so I should buy an Android phone now.
